  1. Shelvey may have demonstrated the ability to control games but the issues, he isn't or can't do that on a consistent basis. He may have been in decent form in the last few months but there's no guarantee he'll maintain that especially in a whole different environment. Plus, let's not forget he's a bit of a hot head. Can't blame Southgate for wanting players he can trust and rely on to do a job.
  2. Pardon me for being petty but I'd like to see the captain a tad more inclusive when it comes to the trophy crowning moments and it's not about Azpi here. Sure, Terry didn't do to begin with but he did so eventually. Would like to think Cahill should show some self awareness and share the glory moment with the vice-captain. As for his post-match comments, it's something I already alluded to and even you agreed with it.
  3. Show Courtois/Hazard we're ambitious, trick them into signing new contracts and we'll end up with Andy Carroll instead.
  4. Not sure you can say his time in France was a success...
  5. Who knows. Mourinho reportedly spoke with Hazard about signing players in the past.
  6. Wonder the board will consult Hazard on who should the next manager be...
  7. Terry may have done trophy lifting by himself at first but he eventually did it with Lampard. Maybe I'm just being harsh to expect Cahill to be like Terry but I'd like to think having played with him for a good number of years, he would have learned from Terry and let the vice-captain share the glory in lifting the trophy, especially when he ended the season playing less than Azpi. Heck, if he has any self awareness or respect for others, he would have shared the trophy lifting moment together. Plus, if his post-match comments - talking about proving people wrong etc - is anything go by, then he definitely was only interested in his own personal glory.
  8. Easier said than done. What about the Champions League factor then? He's turning 30 in August and Champions League is the one trophy he hasn't won. He would surely want to join a club who are in it and have a good chance of winning the whole damn thing. Speaking of turning 30, how long does he even have left at the top? Plus, given the board's stance on 30-year-old+, I find it hard to believe we'll go after him...unless the board are completely losing their shit after Hazard's comments.
  9. Why would he want to join a club who are not in the Champions League and aren't exactly competing at the highest level right now? It wasn't too long ago that he was complaining about the lack of spending at Bayern(!). Imagine what he would say about us!
  10. Couple of weeks ago, I'd say probably not. But he's played himself back into form and might just stay. Depends on who the new manager is, I guess. He's also somewhat fortunate that he's English/homegrown.
  11. He probably doesn't care at all but my point is, if you're the captain, at least have some decency to offer the vice-captain the chance to lift the trophy with you (something Terry used to do with Lampard because the latter was the vice captain and out of mutual respect as well), especially when you sat out for like half of the games played this season. I might be wrong and maybe Cahill did ask Azpi and he refused but from the look of things, it appeared Cahill just went all by himself on the trophy lifting.
  12. Not even sure if he was asked to begin with given the mayhem up there and I believe Terry used to make sure both he and Lampard lift trophies together as opposed to just doing himself.
  13. Remember the days when Terry AND Lampard - captain and vice-captain - used to lift the trophy together? Cahill didn't even do it with Azpi yesterday. It was all him alone.
  14. He already mentioned something along those lines.
  15. If anything, feeling more exasperated about this club - the board, manager and/or players - having the tendency to constantly create headlines for the wrong reasons. So sick and tired especially after having to endure a season of endless moaning from Conte. Need to get rid of the dead weights and start fresh again.
  16. Oh the irony of wanting continuity in management and not happy with the manager's defensive tactics.
  17. The stupid thing in all of this is the journalists framing Conte's inevitable departure as another case of Roman sacking the manager because he didn't meet expectations, when Conte has spent pretty much the entire season begging to be sacked. Roman being a trigger happy owner when it comes to sacking managers is one of the stupidest myths ever.
