  1. OK, the main point here is putting the odd crosses here and there is not good enough. An example or two of players who consistently put in good crosses are Baines and Valencia(or as Seb would say, Matt Jarvis). Those crosses don't necessarily have to find a team mate everytime as sometimes something can happen as a result of it. Just put in more good ones than what we are producing now.
  2. While we all are laughing at Liverpool, I hope they get a draw against City today.
  3. A couple more pointers to add from last night: 1. We have now kept 2 clean sheets from the first 3 league games this season. Took us 11 games to achieve that last season. 2. The previous 3 times we won the Premier League, we won our first three league games of the season. 3. We won 3 straight league matches for the first time since December 2011 and beat Newcastle for the first time at home since 2007. 4. Somewhat strange to see Mata hasn't scored or even getting an assist yet. He is still playing a major role in our attacks though and at least there will be others who can share the creative burden and add that spark upfront with him this season. 5. Hazard should be the main man to take the set pieces especially free kicks. Watching Luiz and then Meireles taking them was annoying because their effort are usually way off target and doesn't have much technique in it when you compared to somone like Hazard, who has taken them from Lille! 6. UEFA Super Cup to come next Friday and I desperately want to see us win it. Strangely enough, just found out awhile ago that Atletico Madrid's game against Athletic Bilbao is on tomorrow rather than today, meaning they'll only have 3 days then to prepare for it. Doubt it'll matter much though. And a stat has already gone against us with regards to that game. The last 9 UEFA Super Cup winners have been alternated between the Champions League winners and UEFA Cup/Europa League winners and the current holder of the UEFA Super Cup is 2011 Champions League winner Barcelona. So, either we stop the trend or it's gonna continue[i'm scared of Falcao(and 1-2 others) from their team]. Also, worth remembering that Atletico Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup two years ago when they defeated Inter Milan. 7. And oh, we really need to start creating a bit more chances and test the opposition keeper more. Although we are efficient and taking our chances at the moment, we need to be producing more. Otherwise, can see us coming unstuck in certain matches. Don't think we've had many corners too in the 3 games so far.
  4. It's not because he doesn't want to but because he can't. Oppositions know that with Torres or without any physical presence upfront, we won't win many aerial challenges and that is why they now press us more at our CBs and goal kicks to force Cech go long with it.
  5. Well played to Meireles today. Was solid and disciplined in that double pivot role alongside Mikel. Did what was required of him. And as some have pointed out, don't think we should let Meireles go just yet. He is a useful squad player who can do us a solid and proper job when called upon especially when we have so many games to play this season.
  6. Make that 4 easy games - Man City(H), Arsenal(H), Sunderland(A) and Man United(H).
  7. Credit to RDM for that and bringing off Mata for Ramires in the second half. Mata was coming inside too often and left Ivanovic exposed at RB to Ben Arfa, Santon, Gutierrez etc. Ramires came on and provided a little more stability and protection down that right side.
  8. Found it strange to see Pardew started with 4-4-2. Was overrun by Spurs in the first half last week with that against their 4-2-3-1 before switching to a 4-3-3 to even things up a little. A bit harsh there. He was mainly brought in to stifle Ben Arfa and did his job well as the latter was almost annonymous in the entire game. And also, don't think he's used to be playing higher up the pitch on the LW.
  9. I did. They did improve in the second half when Pardew changed things around but overall, they were hardly impressive as the media seem to making them to be. Didn't exactly like create anything great and they only won the game through a moment of individual brilliance from Ba and a penalty from Ben Arfa.

  11. Have to say, as much as we controlled the game & didn't let Newcastle get into their stride, they were quite disappointing. Had expected a little bit more from Newcastle really. Not taking anything away from our solid performance though.
  12. Another great game from Hazard once again. That 32m looks like a bargain now and it's scary to think that he's nowhere near a finished article yet and can only get better. And surely, he will win the PL 'Player of the Month' award.
  13. Was a rock today in front of the defence. Solid, calm, composed and was disciplined all around from start to finish. Hope he can continue it. However, just wondering though is that because of the somewhat defensive & counter attacking approach? It suited Mikel's game from the looks of it because he has looked poor in games when we have to attack and play at a high tempo. OR is it because he played alongside an equally solid Meireles? Think that sentence might just stir up the 'Mikel-Lampard' double pivot debate again.
  14. Just never ceased to amaze me that sometimes people want a player to come on more for their own pleasure and joy rather than thinking anything about the team.
  15. Deserved win over Newcastle. 3 wins from 3 games and a second clean sheet of the season to boot. Top of the table with 9 points. Not the best of performances but it has been a controlled, professional and solid one all around. Hazard was great once again but think the MOTM has to be Mikel. A calm, composed, solid & disciplined performance from start to finish.
  16. Lampard on the bench. Cech captain according to Chelsea TV.
  17. #NUFC (4-4-2) v #CFC: Krul; Simpson, Steven Taylor, Coloccini ©, Santon; Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Anita, Gutierrez; Ba, Cisse. #epl
  18. On the bench. Should be coming on in the 2nd half.
  19. Plenty of rain and lightning down in London right now. Match may be called off...
  20. Villa have been very poor against Everton. 3-0 down HT and just 1 shot in the first half and 37% possession at home from Villa says it all.
  21. Apparently, the guy has made a mistake. That was referring to their Europa League match.
