  1. I would say that only accentuates the getting ripped off. Being European champions just means we have more cash to spend, so they'll charge us more.
  2. But then what do we do in the General Transfer Talk thread?
  3. Damn it, they've made a great signing.
  4. Because LDN Blue is probably Punjabi I think Mohammed Ali Jinnah is very underrated by Indians, probably because he founded Pakistan . He was a British style gentleman like Nehru, served as a great foil to Gandhi's anti-modernist rhetoric. One thing worth noting is that nearly all Indian Independence leaders were educated in England, most as lawyers.
  5. Robbed by the ref. We should have been 2-0 up, that would have changed the game entirely. Also this is the worst Socceroo team in 25 years. If we get to Brazil, we'll be a laughing stock.
  6. No, and the government here can get fucked. They're overly anti-smoking; or so they claim, they don't care about our health, they just want our money. They don't care when we give them our hard earned money when we buy smokes (taxes on cigarettes in Australia constitute 63% of the total price of a pack, and earned the government $6.5 billion in 2007, the latest year I could find figures for; which accounted for 3% of all government income), but they stop us smoking inside our own vehicles, inside our own homes. They stop us from bringing in duty free cigarettes from overseas, their logic is "If they purchase 250 smokes overseas for just $20, we're missing out on a lot of revenue". We're now limited to a maximum of 50 cigarettes that can be brought into the country. They fool the general non smoking public into thinking they're cracking down on smoking by introducing plain packs- which will achieve fuck all. Cigarettes are not permitted to be openly displayed in any Australian shop, a first time buyer would have no idea of the range of brands available, therefore the aesthetic design of a pack would do very little to influence their decision. Also all it does is make it far easier to counterfeit smokes, if all packs are plain, all you need is some olive green cardboard and a few warning images and you've got yourself an authentic looking pack. A pack of 25 smokes here costs anywhere between 16 and 19 dollars. The same pack in a country that doesn't treat us as a gift that keeps giving, for example, Singapore, costs about $6. That makes it easier for black market tobacco dealers to operate. I've been able to buy 20 packs (of some dodgy Chinese brand, but whatever, tobacco is tobacco) for as little as $5. Smuggled cartons from overseas will set you back about $10. A legitimate carton over here costs about $150. Who's not going to risk buying dangerous/tampered cigarettes from the black market if you get a 94% discount? I'm not going to care if my pack looks like this: Or unbranded. On an unrelated note, I think its time for me to cut my nails, they look pretty big in that picture
  7. I already said that Cole would be the problem. We would have to purchase a proper wing back, with a lot of stamina plus being equally good going forward and in defence. Cole possesses the stamina, but I think he's not that good at attacking as say Lahm.
  8. Lolol. http://www.guardian....ll?CMP=twt_guac The irony is amazing. All is well and yet all is cancerous in Spanish football. Records are being broken and yet teams are going bust. It's eating itself alive and it will be delightful to watch when La Liga will consist of 38 Clasico's and nothing else. I wonder why the other 18 teams won't stop investing in players. Doctors are the way forward. Find better doctors than the big two, beat them.
  9. Rival fans already compare him to Heskey.
  10. There's no benefit in that whatsoever. He may as well rot on our bench instead of theirs. If the loan contract doesn't say in writing that he'll be starting 20 games over the course of the season, it's a waste of time.
  11. It's not all doom and gloom. He could stay in the game as a coach or a scout or something.
  12. And he's retired. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/9874915.Muamba_retired_from_professional_football/
  13. Another one? Why don't we just move Stamford Bridge to downtown Liege or Brussels? The problem with dealing with Portuguese clubs is that they hang on to their star players like their balls. We're not getting him for anything under 35, I reckon. If Paulo Ferreira, bless him, cost 20 million 8 years ago, it's only to be expected to be more stupidly inflated than ever today.
  14. Ah yes, the nanny state. Or the nanny airline, as it were. http://edition.cnn.com/2012/08/14/travel/unaccompanied-children-flights/index.html What's with the sensitivity? Are we not supposed to be a nation of Mick Dundee's?
  15. A pinch of salt from Dandi Beach? Lol wtf? You don't get thrown out of anything in the Australian educational system for not having high grades, unless you take an accelerated/extension subject; as far as I know only 5 subjects in NSW run accelerated programs: Music History Information Processing & Technology (basically, computing studies) English Maths And then you can do Uni accredited courses at tertiary education centres (NOT universities) which can be used as units of credit when/if you go to uni, thus speeding up your graduation process, and there's a huge range of subjects you can do that in.
  16. You know, I'm starting to think he won't turn out that well. He monstered the Belgian league, but that was down to him being bigger than 99% of the world's strikers at the age of 17.
  17. Getting bullied by a younger brother... I am disappoint.
  18. I don't think Liverpool will do that well under Rogers. He seems to be a long term investment. Perhaps in 5 years they'll be a big threat again.
  19. The first one is the likely outcome if we do become a republic.
  20. Inb4 Kakuta becomes world class at Marseille.
  21. Robbie just looks so dodgy in that photo. AVB did a good job pretending he wasn't looking though
  22. US foreign policy has always been enormously pragmatic, though. They saddled themselves with ideological enemies many times, first with the USSR, then with pro-US dictatorships, finally with anyone anti-Soviet.
