Like I said before, I would not be surprised if City have their game of their life. They already beat Bayern last season. So let's see before jumping the gun.

Jose Mourinho insists he is not motivated by the thought of matching Roberto Di Matteo's achievement of winning the Champions League with Chelsea. Instead the Portuguese wants to set about building his next great team at Stamford Bridge, one that is capable of challenging for the trophy which has so far eluded him during his time in west London. Having delivered European Cups whilst in charge at Porto and Inter Milan, Mourinho so far has not been able to repeat the feat with Chelsea - whose one and only success in the competition came under Di Matteo's stewardship in 2012. But this season has started promisingly for the Blues, who are unbeaten in all competitions and sit clear at the top of the Premier League. Progression into the knockout stages of the Champions League can be attained with a victory over Di Matteo's Schalke side in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday evening but Mourinho is not thinking about having to equal the Italian's triumphs during his spell at Chelsea. "Don't ask me to speak about him," said Mourinho when asked about Di Matteo. "The history is the history - he was on the Chelsea bench when Chelsea won the Champions League and he is a historic name in this club, I have nothing more to say. "My name is in the history of this club. A football club is made of many, many names not one or two names or one player or one manager. I did my history here and now I have the chance to make more history here and he was Chelsea manager and he did his history." Mourinho even said that winning the competition was not necessarily evidence of managerial brilliance. “The Champions League, many, many times I say, is not a consequence of a great work,” Mourinho said. “Sometimes it is not. You can win the Champions League in the worst season. You can finish fifth and win the Champions League. "Right. Liverpool did, and Chelsea, too. A knockout competition is something that always has a big percentage of unpredictability. "I can do nothing to win it. I can only work to improve my team all the time, make a very good team like we are doing. "Me working on the pitch, the board working at other levels to make a great team like we did in 2004/05/06." Mourinho has targeted victory in Germany to secure safe passage at the first opportunity and avoid tricky fixtures in amongst important domestic games in December - warning his players not to take qualification for granted. The teams drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge in the first round of fixtures before Di Matteo replaced Jens Keller as Schalke boss and even another draw on Tuesday would go a long way to keeping Mourinho on course to bring his first European Cup to Chelsea.

Yes but it's only a few. While Liverpool supporters are a lot more worldwide and media favors them. If Liverpool wins, more deluded thoughts from media. City won last year not many fanfare. Imagine if Liverpool would have won? A million books been written and all that. So for me it will always be better City to win when we can't win it then instead of Liverpool. But speaking about City, today their last chance to stay alive in the CL. It could well happen where they have their game of their lives. Too much complacency on Bayern I see. So let's see if we get a good match or just a total blow out.

Well I never bought the whole Mourinho thing about youth. His record is not that great and you know what, it's okay. For a club as ours where we can afford to buy players it's alright. I'm just glad that our club is not stupid enough in paying 30 million LB just because he's "English" when we have a player in that same role that ain't good enough to take over what we have. Ryan good enough for the Saints, but not good enough to be our number one starter like it was with Ashley and currently Azpi.
-
Common shared opinion? Maybe if your English, but not to me. It's about the same to me. The top teams totally destroy the smaller teams. Chelsea record of goals just like Barca and Real.
-
Ronaldo was actually killing the EPL before he left. People was saying that same thing you said, that the EPL defense is shit and all that. Ronaldo is just too good, simple as that.

Well that's the logical choice. Because Liverpool will give Rodgers one more year, United will keep their coach. So it falls between City and Arsenal. Weather City is serious enough to sack Pellegrini if they win nothing this season and weather Arsenal are really letting Wenger go. So I see it a high chance that Klopp will come to EPL and even higher chance of him taking over Arsenal because FFP favors Arsenal then City. And he's a very smart manager to choose the best choice long term. If that all happens next season then more then likely as well that Reus follows him to Arsenal.... Ah speculation at it's best.
-
Not according to @Term-X, where we should have spend every penny on him just because he's English.
-
Should give him a new contract this new year a long with Hazard as well.
-
I still wonder who was our target if we didn't get Fabregas. Mourinho said they had another target if he didn't come. Imagine we could have probably been with paulinho or something like that. ?
-
He's a big time diver. I don't like this.
-
To Chelsea players? Yes I know, but not to Milan. That's a big criticism to how far they have fallen.
-
Sell him to Milan since that's the new pensioners house.
-
I think Roman tried and he snubbed us. So no point in going over that anymore. We turn to Mourinho and he came running. And for that we are grateful to this man.
-
Cech did it to Cudicini. What goes around comes around.
-
Wow amazing. And to think atlético had those 2 strikers in their books plus Falcao. Men Atletico has a good scouting system.
-
Why make a whole thread of rumor? Plus shouldn't this go to the transfer section?
-
Would be a great buy for 20 million. I do like the idea of giving them one of our players to sweeten the deal.
-
Well Spain didn't want to believe us and now they have to in both cases. I think this is good as next time they will be more incline to listen to us when we warn them. Mourinho said it's better for Spain to have a fully fit Costa. I will add the same for Fabregas. So is best they get a rest while having some injuries.
-
But that's the thing. People like Terminator X want English players at all cost. No matter if they are shitty. You can't have it both ways. Mourinho is a manager that is hired to win, and in winning he picked out the best prospect in between Azpi and Ryan regardless of the nationality. That's why it will continue to be like that even if Mourinho stays here for a decade.
-
It's the second season. We should have at least seen some promise. If by next season we see nothing, then we will never will no matter who is at the club. That's the reality if this day and age of PL dominance. As @Joker10, said that big money in the PL is also making it hard for even lower clubs to develop youth. Because they can now afford to buy ready made foreign players from another league and what not.
-
Yeah Ryan would be a better English LB then Shaw. But our problem is that we didn't give him much chances and thus used Azpi. While Azpi is good, but when even Mourinho prefers Azpi over then Ryan then you know how tough it is for English players. So not also the club problem but managers as well. Here clearly Mourinho preferred a foreign over an English player. And it's the right move at the moment since Azpi is much better then Ryan. Can't have it both ways @Term-X,
-
Non, it has to come from our youth academy. But mourinho isn't giving much chances at this moment. So it's hard to envisioned that.
-
Good stuff. Now where's hazard? I'm getting worried that it's November and he has yet to sign a new one. ?
-
Well we are winning with a lot of foreigners and nobody is mentioning about our lack of English players....
