  1. Cech Azpilicueta - Ivanovic - Terry - Cole Ramires - van Ginkel de Brunye - Hazard - Schürrle Lukaku Need to have a dynamic midfield against Aston Villa and Ramires & MvG will offer just that. Don't want to see Cahill against Benteke again so Azpilicueta should start if he's fit and ready, allowing Ivanovic to play at CB. I'm sure not many of you will agree but I would give Schürrle the chance to shine on his natural position and try Hazard down the middle. Oscar did great against Hull and wouldn't mind him starting but we mustn't let Schürrle rot on the bench either and we have important games next week too so Oscar should rest. Mata didn't even come on as a substitute against Hull so I'll just assume he isn't ready yet and he should be rested for the harder games as well. Lukaku up front a no-brainer.
  2. Bale, selling him will get them enough money for all these new signings.
  3. Are you for real? How many times have you seen Willian play if you're ready to make such a bold claim? This guy's not fit to lace the boots of Mata or Hazard. I started watching Shakhtar Donetsk somewhat regularly in the 11/12 season when this guy was strongly linked to us and back then I would have taken him without a moment's hesitation even for around £25-30m because at the time our squad was severely lacking in quality as well as quantity. As it turned out he was nothing special, even against the low-level Ukrainian teams and now we have four players (Hazard, Mata, Oscar, KdB ) who I would take ahead of Willian any day of the week so I couldn't be happier that we didn't get him in the end. He's good but not an exceptional talent like Hazard, Mata or Bale, the one he's going to replace at Spurs. Willian's good at dribbling and he's fast but not much else. Bad finisher and not much of a crosser either, is it just because he had his best games of the season against us in the CL last season that some people rate him so highly?
  4. Nah, it's Arsenal who should be worried not us. Even with Willian, I can't see them finishing any higher than fourth when they lose Bale. And is Willian really worth £35m, more than any of our current attacking midfielders? Anyway, they've done some decent signings this summer and may even have more coming in if they get Coentrao and / or Lamela. Their centrbacks apart from Vertonghen are still shit though and they have even lost Caulker without replacing him with anyone.
  5. Avenged Sevenfold's new album Hail to the King will be released later this week but it's already made available for free streaming on iTunes in case there's other A7X fans out here who might want to listen in. Just tuned in and the first few tracks sound amazing. Can't wait till November when I get to see the band live again!
  6. City looked good, although I will wait till they face a proper opposition before making any judgement. They're playing against United in a few weeks, aren't they? Once again very impressed by Dzeko even though he couldn't find the net today. Cheeky bid for him if we fail to get Rooney?
  7. Talking out of your ass again, it seems. If you're going to complain, at least go through the trouble of getting your facts straight. Our record with Martin Atkinson (20 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses) is way better than with any other active English referee and there's nothing you can say to make this any less true. Unlike you think, it was in fact Atkinson who took charge of both our wins against Arsenal last season and the one who officiated the 3-5 in 2011 was Andre Marriner. So far Atkinson has refereed two of our games against Manchester United and both of them have resulted in a Chelsea win, the latter of which even involved a very dodgy game-winning penalty awarded to Chelsea following a 'challenge' on Yuri Zhirkov. Also, he's the one who awarded Mata's ghost goal in the 5-1 FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham. I could go on but I have a feeling everyone got the point already and I'm not one to keep repeating myself to make my intentions clear. Source: http://www.thechels.co.uk/analysis/referees/?ref=ATKINSON,MARTIN Feel free to browse through the referee analysis on that site and come back when you can come up with someone who from our perspective would've been a better choice for next Monday's game.
  8. Nice, our record with Atkinson as ref is very good. He took charge of both our wins against Arsenal last season if I'm not mistaken.
  9. They also have Javier Hernandez who's a very, very good goalscorer. I'd say van Persie, Hernandez and Welbeck is more than enough for them if they keep playing the same formation. Obviously RvP will start the majority of their games up front while Welbeck is capable of playing in any of the positions in their front four and Hernandez is very much an adequate backup for van Persie. They also have Shinji Kagawa to play behind van Persie and because Rooney played a lot of games in the #10 position last season they haven't in my opinion seen the best of Kagawa just yet. I feel they would be just fine if they sold Rooney, maybe even better off if he's really causing trouble in the dressing room like the media seem to think.
  10. Mourinho sure seems optimistic that we'll have a new striker before the window closes. It may not be Rooney but it sure as hell will be a player who's better than Torres. And my remark was more of a joke than anything because I don't believe for a second that we could actually offload Torres to Roma. On loan to some Spanish or Italian club is pretty much the best we could realistically hope for if the club finally decide to try and get rid of him.
  11. Is the money really that significant when compared to the Premier League's previous tv deal? I know the deal is much better and more evenly distributed than it is in the La Liga but enough to make bottom half club able to spend over £50m on transfers in a single transfer window? Not that I'm complaining, personally I think it's great that even the clubs outside the European places can attract such high profile players. Makes for a much interesting competition when there are for example players good enough for the Italian national team playing for clubs such as Southampton and Sunderland.
  12. €15m is what I'm hearing. Wonder where Southampton got all the money for the signings they've made this summer. Wanyama, Lovren and now Osvaldo have all cost them well over 10 million each. Roma are now lacking a striker. Maybe we could offer them Torres in a direct swap for De Rossi?
  13. There's no smoke without fire. Surely Mourinho wouldn't 'confirm' anything like that if there weren't advanced negotiations taking place with some club for a forward. Whether it's Rooney, Eto'o or some surprise player I'm growing ever more confident that by September the 3rd we'll have a new striker in the team.
  14. Wow, didn't see that one coming. Southampton have made some very impressive signings after their promotion last year. Clyne, Ramirez, Lovren, Wanyama and now Osvaldo just to name a few.
  15. You didn't see the massive trollface? Jose could start Hilario up front for all I care and I won't ever question his decisions, he's a wiser man than me when it comes to football.
  16. Another 8-0 against Villa maybe too much to ask for?
  17. Not an easy situation he's in when he has to compete with Hazard, Oscar, De Bruyne and Mata who all seem to be performing to a very high standard but I still feel Andre will come good when given a chance. He did okay today but he only came on when the rest of the team had already stopped playing after the game was won so there wasn't much more he could have done. There will be plenty of opportunities with around 60 games still to play this season and his attitude seems great so yeah, I have faith in the guy.
  18. Can't stand this joke of a league, don't know why any neutrals still bother watching the two giants play against these teams whose annual budgets are not even 1% of what Barcelona and Real Madrid have at their disposal.
  19. Jose out if Torres starts against Villa.
  20. Couldn't really hit his shots on target today but other than that a good performance for Kevin. I know his shooting technique is great, just have to be patient with him and he will get us some important goals from range in the coming games. Same with Schürrle really.
  21. Great first half, could easily have been five up after the first 45 minutes. Second half understandably not as good as the first but three points all that matters. Oscar man of the match for me.
  22. £300k a week my ass. It's not the player that needs convincing, it's Manchester United so why the fuck should we offer the already highest paid player in the Premier League a 30% pay rise? If we can get United to accept the offer, I'm absolutely sure he will come even if we just matched his current wages because this time him wanting a move is by no means motivated by money.
  23. 30 points so far with JT, Zabaleta, Hazard, Lukaku and Dzeko yet to play. Hoping Zabaleta or Dzeko won't feature cause I have Coleman on the bench with 13 points.
  24. Didn't even pretend to look happy when van Persie made it 0-3.
