Mourinho sure seems optimistic that we'll have a new striker before the window closes. It may not be Rooney but it sure as hell will be a player who's better than Torres. And my remark was more of a joke than anything because I don't believe for a second that we could actually offload Torres to Roma. On loan to some Spanish or Italian club is pretty much the best we could realistically hope for if the club finally decide to try and get rid of him.

Is the money really that significant when compared to the Premier League's previous tv deal? I know the deal is much better and more evenly distributed than it is in the La Liga but enough to make bottom half club able to spend over £50m on transfers in a single transfer window? Not that I'm complaining, personally I think it's great that even the clubs outside the European places can attract such high profile players. Makes for a much interesting competition when there are for example players good enough for the Italian national team playing for clubs such as Southampton and Sunderland.

€15m is what I'm hearing. Wonder where Southampton got all the money for the signings they've made this summer. Wanyama, Lovren and now Osvaldo have all cost them well over 10 million each. Roma are now lacking a striker. Maybe we could offer them Torres in a direct swap for De Rossi?

Not an easy situation he's in when he has to compete with Hazard, Oscar, De Bruyne and Mata who all seem to be performing to a very high standard but I still feel Andre will come good when given a chance. Like I said, Lukaku is only for the first gameweek because we have two home games against low-end clubs and then I'm going to replace him with a more permanent striker. For GW1 only I'd say Lukaku for a minimum of 120 minutes against Hull and Aston Villa combined is a much better option than any other striker out there, even Van Persie because he has a tough away game against Swansea.

Not going to happen, though it would be some transfer window if it did. Stranger things have happened and moving two times in the same transfer window is not completely unheard of, just look at Anzhi and their transfer activities this summer. They bought Denisov and Kokorin but due to their unexpected money problems they sold both of them as well as our old Yuri Zhirkov to Dinamo Moscow. Here's mine at the moment. Been mixing things up way too much today, a while ago I still had Lambert, De Bruyne (DGW gamble) and Kolo Toure but now I've replaced them with Dzeko, Walcott and Terry. My strikers give me a headache. As of now only Anelka is untouchable and maybe Lukaku for the DGW too but other than that I have no idea who to go with. Lambert, Giroud, Soldado and Dzeko have all been in my plans at some point but for the first gameweek I can pick only one of them and maybe get one to replace Lukaku from the GW2 onwards. At the moment I've got Lukaku and Dzeko who may both be good choices early on but a more permanent plan is needed. Anelka - Giroud - Lambert, maybe?

Ligue 1 actually kicked off last week and Falcao scored in his debut.

Spanish newspaper Marca are saying Monaco have already transferlisted Falcao because they can't afford to keep him. Personally I don't believe it but maybe it's time to re-open the old Falcao thread we all loved?

Someone on Twitter started a rumour that we've submitted a bid of £40m + Lukaku for Rooney and the Manchester United fans who saw it got all excited. To believe that is almost as deluded as believing that our first bid was £20m + Mata.
