The true danger in my opinion, is that groups like QAnon distract from real conspiracies making the wider society view ANY conspiracy theory automatically as untrue and every theorist a loony bin candidate. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if movements like QAnon and others are purposefully fed lies with sprinkles of truth by real conspirators, in order to distract and diminish the credibility of anyone who might be onto them (lol, guess I just created a new conspiracy theory 😄). It gives them a nice safety net of "oh they're just right-wing conspiracy nutjobs" even when they sometimes actually touch a real subject, no-one will believe them.
In general it ties to the spread of misinformation like in every aspect of media. The point is to muddy the waters enough so that people wouldn't know truth from fiction anymore, and that is a very fertile breeding ground for corporate criminals.

I never saw him as a player that could "run the show".   At best, he was a system player at his previous club and the coach knew how to get him motivated and do the basic things well.
I think the other issue with Mudryk (which he spoke about during his time with the national team) is that he was hoping to move to a club with his international team-mates to help him settle down and adapt to the league.  That's the reason why the links to Arsenal were so strong and Zinchenko was one of his close friends and then the Chelsea transfer happened and he doesn't have that friendship here.
Ideally, he needs a loan to a different league, fresh start, play without the pressure, have fun again and then come back.

Interesting was thinking back on his time here  and what he’s done after when I seen him play earlier for United.
I know his career hasn’t exactly kicked on since he left us but he has nearly 100 goal involvements for United - 50 goals and 47 assists - in 271 games so basically a goal or assist every 2.8 games or 3 whatever your pick is. Not amazing but considering he hasn’t really ever been a regular there bar under Moyes prior to his sacking and Van Gaal for a bit but again in and out, it’s still not exactly been a career wasted so to speak, just has maybe underachieved (say that lightly though based on the trophies hes won still).
It still does pain me to think what he could have continued to do here although he did have his limitations but at the same time the technical ability and quality that so many others didn’t have who lasted a lot longer than him here. For example Oscar and Willian.
Overall though throughout his career, 618 club games, 137 club goals and 157 club assists. Basically a goal or assist every 2 games or close enoigh. Plus he’s won the World Cup, the Euros, the CL, Copa del Rey, 2 Europa Leagues, 2 FA cups and the EFL/Carabao Cup. So all in all not done too badly which is why maybe a waste of a career is a bit harsh although United being piss poor over a long period has largely contributed to a lack of medals. If he had gone somewhere else or stayed he’d have bound to have won more.
Would say his playing style and lack of athleticism has made him a victim to how football over the last 10-15 years has seen this continuous emphasis and rise on everyone being even more athletic and even more extremely fit to play in these top teams. The majority of them all now seem to be associated with this relentless gegenpressen or counter pressing approach or whatever you want to call it and doesn’t look like its going anywhere any time soon.

I personally wouldn't have signed him. For sure, he was good at Dortmund the first time around but Germany is an attackers dream with the high lines. Since then, he has appeared completely disinterested at Utd and even in his second stint at Dortmund he didn't set things alight. For me, once we brought Felix, that should've been the end as we didn't need two 'could be great, could be awful' signings at AM.

I think there are clearly players who are brought with a view to churn through the loan system and makes small profits on, with a potential they explod.
I am fine with Angelo type buys, he hasn't really cost us anything - although there is a danger someone like Washington is going to just get lost in the system, but that is another conversation.
The bigger problem for me is when we get Disaster and Sanchez level players to play in the first team.

    Couldn't agree more.
Flamengo actually has the best striker in teh country, Pedro, who flopped in Europe (Fiorentina), but is still better than what the other sides have there. He is recovering from a hammy, but should be back soon. So, it's likely Deivid wouldn't be starting too many matches.

If we are serious about his development (or upping his value), then loaning to Brazil makes no sense.

Think it's still early on Mount, but it is looking that way; looks like another James/Kante with hammy issues, which will take a toll. I'd feel more conformable with your statement if Lavia played football tho.

Kai and Palmer don't play in the same position. Kai is a second FW or Striker, never a mid (much less a winger) as he is not mobile enough for that.
I like Jackson and I like Kai, even though they are completely different players in terms of characteristics. They'd complement each other very well too given that Kai is much stronger in the air and in tight contested spaces, while Jackson can dribble and beat players with pace.
Some of our swaps aren't really "net positives" at least just not yet; folks have personal preferences about a player vs another, but it's all about competitive advantage as in actually beating the other teams and acquiring silverware.

We often focus too much on individual performances in a team sport.

That's the thing, technically he just isn't good enough. His lack of technique and decision making are his major weaknesses and you don't improve those a lot at age 23. If he was a random academy player, he'd be loaned or sold a long time ago already. The only thing keeping him in the picture is his price tag - the investors want to minimize their losses, but with each game he devalues himself more. I don't think he'll be here next season.

Righto just watched the replay - missed the game live as I was busy with my partner having our first baby delivered :)
Lovely to watch how dangerous we are going forward - Neto and Palmer both look excellent and we know they can do it in PL. Great game from Madueke as well obviously.
Coaching will sort out Caicedo's performance(s) in the pivot imo, he's just rushing things a bit when he doesn't need to and other times not rushing it a bit when he does need to, but he'll totally get it. Hope Lavia is back soon though, he is in better form (and had a proper preseason).
Earlier in this thread there was some talk around how toxic it is on this forum and in general in the Chelsea fanbase now, and how lots of people are becoming disengaged and lurking instead of posting. I feel this! I also lurk a lot simply because the toxicity is so strong and it feels a bit like going to an opposition's forum sometimes, when you check out the threads they have about your club. Unfortunately this will only go away (a bit) if we go on a sustained winning run, we saw the same from Arsenal and lots of clubs when they were shit and poorly run for ages. Winning is the best tonic.

My biggest fear when Maresca came was that we would play that weird, turgid, ponderous pass orgies we see from leicester but if the game vs wolves is anything to go by he wants us to play a lot more vertical and release the runners early after collective, coordinated movement has create the spaces. I really hope - and it sure does look like it - that many of the moves leading to the Madueke goals and the Felix one were indeed rehearsed with more to come. I do not expect us to be as clinical as yesterday every time from now on but having the excitement and optimism back is already worth a lot.

Does anybody even care who we sign anymore? I don't, they're all average mercenaries anyway. I couldn't care less about anybody in the squad once Gallagher and Chalobah leave, the last carriers of Chelsea DNA (Reece also but he's not gonna play a lot). A team of average mercenaries is what we've become and no signing is gonna change that.

I desperately hope that is not true. He really is not that good and absolutely useless as 10.  When he is not giving it his all and putting his body on the line like he did at the Wc, he really is just an average player tbh. Neither his technique, nor his athleticism nor his football iq are anywhere close to that of a 100m player.

Recently I was thinking how Clearlake promised excitement and all we get is frustration and your optimism seems to prove contrary and that's unironically a comforting sign.
Don't know about others, but personally I'm not depressed, just fed up. A short bursts of doing basic footballing stuff on this level isn't quite the thing to get me going. All the good things are overshadowed by the fact that we still carry the same glaring issues we did last season, two seasons before or even towards the end of previous ownership.
    Also:
Yeah, maybe so, maybe not, but if you scroll this board back you will read exactly the same sentence year before, two years before and three years before. Also four and five probably.
I don't care we lost to City (or rather 65% of actual City's power), I care I didn't quite see us being remotely a threat to them and didn't see anyone willing to eat the grass to make us so.

The alleged Dodgers strategy won't help either. If the club operates with idea of flipping players asap there is no incentive for them to actually care for the club but rather try to show off as much as possible for their next move.
Funny how fast we are losing the reputation factor also; for last 15 or so years we were in line with Juve, Barca, United etc - playing for Chelsea was nobilitation and aim in itself. Ever heard of some abroad player dreaming to play for Southampton or Crystal Palace? It's a job for them and this is what we are becoming, smaller club mentality.

I think the statement was wrong. Particularly with the timing yes. Was it his idea or his teams idea to release it then though? Who knows? Both should know better though.
I can see why he would be frustrated. He was told he was a part of Maresca’s plans when pre-season started and maybe a week ago, if the rumors are true, the club offered him to Juventus in a swap deal for Chiesa… that and leaving him out, maybe put some wheels in motion in his mind. Its pretty obvious the club are looking to shift multiple players on.
I know I keep going on about the new owners and the 2 clowns running the show but this sort of thing wouldn’t have happened under the previous regime. Just like the Gallagher and Trevor situations and them being expelled from the first team and the facilities. There is a real sense of uncertainty and a bit of toxicity around how players are being treated at the club and it definitely has came from the top.
These owners and footballing director guys are making Maresca’s job a nightmare from day 1 with this shit. Its not like he has publicly said about Raheem its best if he leaves like he did with Chilwell. He is answering more questions on things he cannot control as opposed to the most important thing: coaching.

Tosin to replace Thiago Silva and then offloading Chalobah (who again isn’t an inferior player to Tosin at all), Stewart & Winstanley masterclass.
Then appointing someone with 1.5 years managerial experience based on a Championship promotion and time he spent working with Pep as a coach on a 5 year deal 😂
Been saying it for ages now - they are fucking clueless.
Feel sorry for Maresca because he will be thrown to the wolves in the same way Potter and Poch were - albeit Potter was way out of his depth and a daft appointment from the get go.

That's what happens when you let your best CB leave for Brazil and you don't sign another leader as a replacement!
It's like we are expecting Fofana/Colwill to become great CB's overnight but there's no experienced CB at the club to help show them the way (like a Cahill, JT).
