That's because he was a goal machine and a lot more popular globally than Hazard. Real don't need big game players, they have only 2 big games per season + a few in CL, they need flat track bullies and the likes of Ronaldo is perfect for that.

No, I was watching the same game and playing slightly better for a part of the game means shit. Everything you said is how we could have been better if we did or did not do this or that, but we weren't and have not been. Fact is Caballero is part of our team and he let that howler happen, we didn't punish them for their mistakes and we let them punish ours like has been the story of our season game after game. My point stands.

I agree. I have been an avid Conte supporter, but this just takes the cake. No fresh ideas, same stale tactics each game, and worst of all the thing you mentioned - not reacting AT ALL to in-game situations. Bringing on like-for-like players with 10 minutes to go and not changing formation, playing 5 defenders chasing goals in a must-win game, WHAT THE FUCK DOES HE EXPECT? Giroud's fresh legs to do a miracle??? The Einstein quote of madness being repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... well, by that definition Conte is mad! Seriously, I thought he was smarter than that, a more proactive hands-on leader. They are not a team of the highest caliber, don't think anybody thinks that other than spurs fans at the moment. For us it is enough that they are better than us. City are in a league of their own, no point talking about them.

Not fair comparisons tbh. All those transfers were made in recent windows when the market had become ridiculous. Azpi of Marseille in today's market would cost at least 20m for English clubs and he wasn't an established player back then, wasn't that good as he is now. Initially a bench player for us, we made him. If we sold him now, we'd ask for 50m too the least. Really good scouting and smart business for sure, possibly the best business we've ever done, but not really comparable to the circumstances under which those mentioned record signings were made.
