I think we will get a real taste of title challenge and how strong our competition are in the christmas-new year period (december-january). That's usually the hardest time to play and the season will have gone on long enough to see how far squads can be stretched, fatigue kicks in and no doubt some more injuries and setbacks for the teams. It's important to start growing momentum in autumn to go all guns blazing during the new year's period, that's the way I see it. And if we do well enough during that time, then we can be in a more comfortable position during late spring when every point counts and every league game is like a cup final.

Mata has proved to be handy in breaking down defensive and "park the bus" type of teams... exactly what we were thinking about before we signed him and exactly why we were struggling before to move the parked buses.

I think Mata should have his IQ tested like the rest, I seriously think he'd come near Lampard's MENSA-esque result. A lot of players frustrate during games because they don't have that good pitch vision, we from tellies can see where they could give the perfect pass but often they decide to play it safe. Mata on the other hand makes the right decisions more often than not. The Sturridge and Ramires goals were 50% Mata. I remember when we signed him someone in this forum compared him to Malouda... lol Florent would've probably taken a shot in the Ramires goal situation and instead of lobbing to Cole.

yeah what happened to woods? he came with all the hopes and potential in the world, even played in 1st team at some point i remember, and now he's disappeared. i believe he was even branded as the next lampard.

If they are "worried", then something's wrong with the selection policy... only the best should play, not price tags and reputations. I don't think that's the case, I think it's down to the fact that we have no better options for the wing, unless we play Malouda, Kalou or Anelka there. When Drogba, Anelka and Kalou leave and we get Kakuta back and sign a winger or two, I reckon we could see Torres, Sturridge and Lukaku fighting for the CF place, while Danny can offer us versatility as he will be able to play in every position in attack.

It's like playing a lottery thinking anyone would want him now that he has a new contract... in fact, winning a lottery or coming out of the Sahara desert alive would be more realistic.
