I would like to apologize for my recent recent !

Top man.. Your discontent on the issue was valid, many fans would agree, but the lack of respect (or the way in which you chose to express your discontent) was not. However, apologizing is the closest thing reconciliation -
What should be our defence against Manchester City?
manpe replied to Tomo's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Whatever the defensive line, Silva must be kept at bay at all times.. we must mark the shit out of him. He's their main man, leave him too much space - it's over. -
As long as Malouda is kept as far away from action as possible, we have a fantastic chance
-
A hard one... last month there were many worthy candidates, however francozola's, RZA's and KieranVogel's names somewhy got stuck in my head. Gonna go with KieranVogel.

Again, why do you count Kalou's appearances total while only counting Ferreira's league apps? It's not a biggie, but factual inconsistency bothers me a bit (shit personality, I know). Anyway, Ferreira has at least 200 apps total.

agreed... but if it was a major resource hog, then I can deal without E: It seems it's back

Drogba keeps getting better imo, he should start this one

I just read this on wikipedia After playing for Porto for two years, he decided to sit on the bench and joined Chelsea for €20 million (£13.2 million)[2] at the beginning of the Premier League 2004–05 season. wtf @UB - The difference between Paulo and Kalou is that in first 2 seasons Ferreira was instrumental part of the team, an important player in Jose's system. He was very highly regarded and contributed much to our cause. He earned his money back then. Ferreira is considered a legend by some for all the right reasons (I don't consider him a legend per se), but Kalou is considered a bellend more than anything. And I read on wikipedia now that his contract lasts till 2013 not 2012... is this true?

Oh, and a small correction of little importance... The number 133 which you, I presume, got from Wikipedia.. it shows only league appearances.. you have to take into account CC, FAC and CL appearances too.

I think stories like that are blown out of proportion

I've thought about it myself, but I can barely blame him... It's the club who offered him a contract and it will expire next summer. There might be 3 reasons why he hasn't left: A) the club didn't receive any offers for him (does anybody remember any rumours involving him?), B ) the club didn't want to sell him, C) he has refused to leave. If it is indeed the latter, then I could blame him. But the fact that he keeps training with the 1st team, is all smiles and confidence when on camera, gets occasional bench appearances, isn't talked about in the press... it probably rules out the possiblity of him pulling a Bogarde. So it leaves options A and B, which you can't blame him for. Although yes, he does lack ambition... you can look at it in 2 ways: he loves the club or he's just a lazy ass and is fine with the situation of getting paid for participating in world class training. We don't know for sure which one is true.

I assume they won't pay the money if Romeu rejects their approach or contract offer

If we get a right winger, where will it leave Sturridge? He must play, but in this case we will either buy a benchie or Drogba and Torres need to be dropped in order for Studge to play CF... I can't see Danny being benched, he's been too good and it would be injustice to drop him. At the moment our wings are covered (true, Mata isn't a winger, but he is listed on the team sheet on the LWF spot).. but we have no backup for them. With Anelka and Kalou leaving and Malouda soon following their footsteps, we will have to sign at least 2 wingers... Either way I'm afraid one of them will push Daniel aside.. and with a 50Million non-striker ahead of him, he would struggle to get into the team. Although maybe having more competition wouldn't be so bad..

Pompey doing bad in championship... good draw. hope it will be more of a spectacle than it was in pre-season though.

WHS Exclusive - Another Player Leaving
manpe replied to We Hate Scouse's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I hope this isn't bollocks... In a way I'll feel sad, in a way I'll feel happy He has become like a cult, if something goes bad, even if he's not on the bench.. we could always turn to one man, the one man who will take the stick and who we can blame - Kalou. It's a hard job, but he did it well. Now, who will be his successor? Obviously the (Anel)Kalouda will split into Malouda, but he will leave soon aswell. -
I'm really surprised to see that JT is leading. I was 99% certain that Mata would collect majority of the votes (defenders usually get overlooked in convincing wins). I will give honorary mentions to Mata, Sturridge, Drogba and Romeu. But in a clean sheet I was always going to vote for the outstanding defender - JT

How many fks has Alex actually scored for us? I can remember 3... liverpool, middlesbrough(?) and rosenborg(?).. anybody else?

What should be our defence against Manchester City?

Bartron, Nate and Romeu are definitely out of the equation, I doubt AVB even considers them... I would bet all my possessions on that unless freak injury crysis occurs. -

yeah, the best attack in Europe really showed its might against München and Napoli Ivanovic - Alex - Terry - Cole -
Haha Yeah... Well I can say this: Anelka is probably the best striker/winger/playmaker/anchor man/goalkeeper all in one ever to step on the pitch of SB. And Alex will be remembered as... the most good looking baldie.
-
I absolutely LOVE Mata's personality.. humble, polite, down-to-earth. Even if he starts sucking suddenly, I still couldn't bash him because he's so simpatico
-
True blues? hmm... it's debatable. But nevertheless, I wish them well in their careers, except if they by accident go to one of our rivals.
-
I would take him
-
Agreed.. although he's not that old, 27 he should be enjoying his peak.. although the financial risk would be too high
