I remember (while I was awake) that a few of the players tried searching him with through balls, but he didn't make the run or the pass was shit. I also remember the chested chance. I read that he was anonymous at the end when we were pushing for the winner... is it true?

What he did was wrong definitely, he has screwed up in his life, but everybody makes mistakes. Everybody, you and me.. We all are scumbags to some degree. Anyway, it's just my view.. I don't consider myself a saint therefore I don't judge others too much. None of us really knows how John is personally, we can only read about him in papers - not the best way to learn about a person.
