Somewhat ironically, Khalid Boulahrouz has again been good for the Dutch. I know he's only played one game, but he instantly reminded me of how well he played in Euro 2008. I rated him when he was with us but he just didn't seem to be consistent enough. I remember him keeping Ronaldinho quiet one game and then getting raped by Robbie Keane two or three matches later But for Holland I've only ever seen him to be a good player!

I hope his international career isn't over, as well. He deserves his final swansong at the European Championships in 2012. -

Best of luck to him, great professional and a brilliant player. -
I disagree there, our best players are both 32...

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that Nicolas Anelka has signed a one-year extension to his existing contract that will keep him at the club until 2012. The 31-year-old forward said: 'When I first came to Chelsea I wanted to stay much longer than what I did in the past with other clubs. 'It is a big club, you play with big players and I like this club, I like London. There is no need to move anymore and so I am very glad to sign a new contract and I know we will play in big games and win titles. I am very glad.' Manager Carlo Ancelotti added: 'Nicolas is a fantastic player who has good technical qualities and movement. 'When I was coach at Juventus I wanted to buy him, so it is good now he has signed for me and I think Chelsea is his home. I look forward to working with him for one year more.' Anelka has appeared 123 times in Chelsea colours, since arriving from Bolton in 2008, scoring 42 goals. Chelsea TV has an exclusive interview with the forward on Sky channel 421 from 6.30pm this evening, along with the rest of the Blues News. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2077870,00.html

They can spend as much as they like, it won't change my opinion. My view is they ought to ask for a refund.

Sami Khedira has been excellent in my opinion.

Official: Ballack and Joe Cole released!
BlueLion. replied to We Hate Scouse's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I'm not, saw it coming to be honest. The tosser wanted more money, suppose it must be awful sitting on the bench doing fuck all and getting £90,000 a week for it. -
Do you believe Aguero will sign for Chelsea this summer?
BlueLion. replied to Swoopz's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I'm not sure. I don't think we would have sold all those players without being confident of bringing in another player. -
You're coming up with all these exotic analogies... I just think it's shit, personally.
-
Can't believe he's 32... I remember us signing him
-
I don't quite think we were paying Deco £96 million... that would make him the world's most well-paid footballer...

Champions Chelsea would appear to have been handed a significant advantage by the Premier League computer with yesterday's announcement of next season's fixtures. Carlo Ancelotti's Double winners will have home matches on the weekends that follow midweek group stage matches of the Champions League five times out of six. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/chelsea-have-most-to-cheer-with-release-of-next-seasons-fixtures-2003447.html

Holy shit... it's apt Lyon are known as l'OL because those kits, bar the home one, are fucking hilarious.
-
Strange one. However with Belletti gone and Carvalho and Ferreira set on following suit you can imagine Ancelotti wanting as many potential prospects as we have; namely van Aanholt, Bruma, Hutchinson, Rajkovic.
-
Typical Sky not knowing fuck all about a player That is what Wikipedia is for

If we're top at Christmas, we'll more than probably win the league, but that final month could be a bitch.

Benayoun set for £5.5m Chelsea move as Mutu row rumbles on By Mark Fleming Chelsea were last night close to agreeing a £5.5m deal with Liverpool to sign midfielder Yossi Benayoun as replacement for Joe Cole. The Double-winners, who last week announced they would let Cole and Michael Ballack leave on free transfers, hope to confirm the signing of Benayoun by the end of the week. On the face of it, the move is a puzzling one. Benayoun, 30, is two years older than Cole, and has failed to cement a regular first-team place at a Liverpool side that finished seventh last season. Yet Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti clearly believes the Israeli international is a better bet in Chelsea's midfield next season. Benayoun has verbally agreed terms on a four-year deal worth around £55,000 a week, and is due to have a medical at the club's training ground later this week. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/benayoun-set-for-16355m-chelsea-move-as-mutu-row-rumbles-on-2000563.html

With Fener he is guaranteed a lot more money and playing time. The reports indicate en masse he was being offered around £40,000 a week, which is a hell of a lot of money for a youngster! It was a case of him wanting to move.
-
I watched him first in Werder's run to the UEFA Cup final a few years back; he was stunningly good then. Was also brilliant in the U21s Euro Championships last summer and impressed me once again. This is the type of player we need, not fucking Benayoun!
-
Spot on. If Benayoun was about 23/24 I'd say yes because I really do rate him as a player... but I see no logic in selling three players well beyond their best in Ballack, Belletti and Joe 'More Money Please' Cole, as well as selling a youthful prospect just to bring in another 30-something? Let's sign Totti and Beckham while we're at it.
