  1. I'd swap him for a half-finished can of lager.
  2. Very good point. But even so, the figures mentioned... £15m back then, and now we are talking £40 million? Obscene money. Such pressure on young English players...
  3. He literally ruined the money shot of our CL final triumph with the fucking monobrow of his.
  4. I know he was older and he has severe limitations, but £7m for Gary Cahill looks an absolute steal now, doesn't it?
  5. Exactly. Judge him after his first start.
  6. Agreed, his first 4/5 matches were outstanding, then he faded away as results got poorer, I seem to recall.
  7. Yes and we can make you admin, if you like.
  8. In 2011/12 we had the League Cup game where Turnbull got sent off and Cech came on and saved Baines' penalty. We wore white that night as well. However you are quite right when you say we wore the black kit for the away league match there.
  9. I don't think we have a lack of depth, tbh. Goalkeepers: Thibaut, Begovic, Blackman Full-back: Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Baba, plus Ramires and Zouma if necessary. Centre-back: Terry, Cahill, Zouma, Ivanovic, plus Mikel and Matic in an absolute emergency. Plus Stones looks likely to join us at some stage. Midfield pivot: Matic, Fabregas, Mikel, Ramires, RLC, plus Zouma and Oscar if necessary. Attacking midfielders: Hazard, Willian, Cuadrado, Oscar, Ramires, Fabregas, plus Remy and RLC if necessary. Strikers: Falcao, Costa, Remy. For me, the squad size and versatility is good enough. My concern is that the quality of the back-up players is actually worse than this time last year. Schurrle > Cuadrado (goes without saying) Cech > Begovic (Begovic is outstanding and has been our best player so far this season, but Cech is still one of the best in the world) Luis > Baba (I've never actually seen Baba play, but let's be frank, Luis is still one of the best full-backs in the world...) Falcao = Drogba (both are decent enough for 3rd choice forwards) Now if we'd have replaced Luis with someone like Dani Alves (I know we weren't linked with him; I'm speaking hypothetically in terms of replacing players with better/similar quality footballers), Drogba with Griezmann, Schurrle with Reus, etc., we'd still have the best squad in the league. I maintain our first-choice, when in-form, starting XI is the best in the league, but our options from the bench have changed from being Cech-Luis-Ramires-Schurrle-Mikel-Remy-Drogba to Begovic-Zouma-Cuadrado-Falcao-Moses-Remy-Loftus Cheek. Our squad is suitably sized but the quality of our reserves just isn't if you want to defend a league title. Signing Baba and Stones gives us greater defensive options but our issues lie in midfield right now.
  10. I agree, I don't think he is a Real or Barcelona-type player. He certainly fits the Bayern Munich mould, however.
  11. I don't like how Mourinho has basically scapegoated Terry for our first-half performance on Sunday with that substitution. It seems José has officially Casillas'd JT and hung him out to dry.
  12. I've lost all faith with him. Not cut out for the Prem.
  13. He started last season slowly as well. Same in 13/14 and 12/13. Leave him be. He'll come good.

  15. It's a calculated risk. If he plays for us for 10 years, like Luke Shaw will for Manchester United, it's a worthwhile investment. If we sign him, he shows no signs of improving and we dump he after 2-3 years, then it's money down the drain. It really can go either way with young English players because most of them have their heads up their own arses. Stones doesn't strike me as being that way. He seems quiet, unassuming, and dedicated to improving his game. I don't think I've ever even seen him do an interview. He has his feet on the ground and that's the type of kid we need; more players in the Zouma mould, rather than the Sterling one.
  16. If that's the case then if I were a United fan I'd want my money back; it's fucking minging. I hated our home kit at first but now I love it, since buying it. IMO, our home kits under adidas, from best to worst: BEST WORST
  17. Not happening. Should have gone for him when we had the chance.
  18. As much as I love Willian, when you have to admit that either he or our second-choice goalkeeper have been our best players in the three (well, two, nobody gives a shit about the Community Shield, which is an overblown friendly), you know we're having a shitter.
  19. But then in 12/13 when we had the black third, we wore the white away:
