  2. I genuinely think it will. He had a lot going against him at United. He joined on deadline day, so didn't get a pre-season with his side. Secondly, he was being constantly rotated with van Persie and Rooney and Welbeck, and simply didn't get a consistent run of games to prove himself. It didn't help that van Gaal was changing systems every game as well. I accept he was very poor for United, but I believe we are a side that would suit his abundant qualities more so than United. I don't expect him to thrash in 40 goals next season, but he's certainly an upgrade on Drogba as a second/third-choice forward. Mourinho has confidence in him (clearly - otherwise he wouldn't have negotiated the deal) and I trust his judgement. I think he'll surprise many people because fans such as yourself are already writing him off before a single competitive football is kicked.
  3. Haha, looks amazing mate, glad you enjoyed the experience! As for today, you can't blame him for celebrating. The difference is he's celebrating winning a Community Shield, not a European Cup.
  4. Imagine a player's touch not being there in a pre-season match after having next to no time training with his side because of partaking in an international tournament over the summer? Incredulous.
  5. Not at all concerned, if anything I'm quite encouraged by the second half. Arsenal took their one good opportunity; we created plenty but unfortunately couldn't take them. Falcao had some good moments and I think, with time, he will settle in to play a decent role for us this season. I was also happy with the performances of Willian and Ramires, and Oscar also gave us some extra flair and verve when he came on. Courtois couldn't do anything with the goal, which was a smashing finish, but was otherwise excellent. I couldn't care less about the result; it's a glorified friendly that Arsenal are celebrating as if they've won the Champions League. We improved as the game went on, and with every passing minute we looked slicker and fitter. This was a very, very useful pre-season test for us and I'm encouraged by the second half performance. What you have to consider is that Arsena l have been back in pre-season training for some time - by the time we played our second pre-season game, against PSG, Arsenal had already played four matches. They started the brighter and probably benefited from being back in England for some time, whilst one or two of our players might have been struggling with jet-lag. I'm not going to criticise any individual player because it's pre-season and all we need to take out of these games is fitness. It won't be until two to three games into the season before the players even start to attain mental sharpness, so one or two loose passes here and there can be forgiven as well. Overall a satisfactory afternoon - if anything I'm looking forward to Arsenal wetting themselves about winning a pre-season competition. Only seven times in the last 23 years has the Community Shield winner gone on to win the Premier League. It'll be seven times in 24 by May. EDIT - I just saw someone say they were happy with this performance in this 'big game'. Big game? Next weekend against Swansea is the big game, my friend.
  6. I'm sorry to say, but some of you should probably just save yourselves the embarrassment and log out now. According to some most of you, we're not going to have a good season based on 45 minutes of a glorified friendly.
  7. I've been impressed by Willian, Ivanovic and Ramires. Azpi looks physically, but not quite mentally, as sharp as usual. Unusual backing off from him for the Arsenal goal. But, as I said in my previous post, I've seen enough to think we have a superb shot of getting back into this.
  8. Nothing to be overly concerned about, the boys grew into the game as it went on. Arsenal started the better and look slightly sharper than us, but we came right back into it with those two Ramires chances. Take off Remy for Falcao and I think we have a route back into this.
  9. I'd imagine so, we're hardly ever going to have to change our blue GK kit (only when playing City I'd imagine) so it won't be anything special.
  10. Disappointed with the third kit. Have you got any photos of that yellow GK kit?
  11. Has no-one broken the news to you yet, Jakey?
  12. I'd compare a mod role on an internet forum to that sort of thing, in all honesty.
  13. If you are interested in becoming a moderator, PM me explaining why the staff should choose you, in no more than 50 words.
  14. It is incredible that so many of you - ironically most of whom have been baying for the youngsters to be given their chance - are now crying for signings. You can't have both.
  15. He won trophies in a single year. I highly doubt he'll ever regret these past twelve months.
  16. I've always been a fan of Moses. His ability to play in any of the four forward positions in the 4-2-3-1 makes him invaluable, IMO.
  17. On the contrary, our financial position means we can sign, arguably, any player on the planet. We're just choosing to be prudent.
  18. I know it's only pre-season, but Christ. I've never felt so hopeless with regards to a player, and I've seen Winston Bogarde play football. Yes, seriously. Even with Torres, he'd do something special that empowered you with confidence. With Cuadrado, if he stays on his feet after a tackle it's a small victory. He needs to up his game considerably, because I've never before been at a stage where I've been willing to write off a player's career at this club after just six months.
