Comfortable win. Tough to expect anything else though against a team that poor but Maresca isn’t out of the woods yet. Have to keep a place in the top 4. Bit embarrassing that Pedro Neto is coming out with the “we are not experienced” and “part of the process” shite post match though. Says that then says that the club belongs in the CL. No doubt the mixed messages from the manager and players will continue depending on results but it really does seem as if nobody from the coaching staff to the players are entirely surely what the expectations are for this season… or thats how it looks from outside. Almost like it is a “if we get there, we get there, if we don’t, we don’t” sort of mentality…
-
Thats the sort of things a data driven scouting and recruitment team would eat up though. Which explains why we were so keen to get him. And Sanchez as well probably.
-
Palmer pretty poor today. Has been same for a few games now, when he doesn’t perform, he is a passenger off the ball - like blatantly obvious. Not his fault he is a bit less athletic as the likes of Neto and Mudryk for instance. Same can be said for Enzo Fernandez and Jadon Sancho.
-
The argument was that statistically he made most saves or something in La Liga last season. Something stupid like that. But yes was never good enough from the get go. Took Sanchez to fuck up for him to start… says it all. Then he does equally as bad.
-
Yes but Jorgensen was apparently one of the best in La Liga last season also. Not one of them from Sanchez to Petrovic are good enough. Their all shite, second choice standard GKs.
-
Sancho sleeping. Jorgensen hopeless. Be a third yet. Pathetic showing again.
-
What the fuck is that lanky streak of pish Tosin doing there??? Christ almighty
-
Bit late to the party but still not sure what to make of this line up. I mean is Reece playing in central MF and Nkunku on the left wing 😂
-
Suppose the question on most peoples minds will be, if we don’t get CL this season, will there be teams snooping around this summer? I know he signed a new deal last summer but how long do we get away without playing in the CL before Cole starts looking around and going WTAF? Talk of some players considering this as it is so is there a chance one of these will be Cole?

Rugby player? For football player support? Is this another move that is incredibly naive? Trying too hard as usual. This is like the medical staff, appointing Dave Grohl’s personal physio to head up an elite level sporting teams medical staff. Or having 2 co-sporting directors. Or whatever else they will do next… It’s like they are trying too hard with everything they do. I mean folk keep saying it isn’t as bad here as at United or Spurs but honestly its really not that far off. The results are better here but the toxicity and decision making here off the field is just as bad as Spurs and United if not worse. And its more noticeable given the slump from when they came in to now.

If Caicedo & Enzo’s fees weren’t going to be paid over 7/8 years like they are (was the massive argument behind why signing them for those fees was a great idea) then we wouldn’t of done it. Same with Mudryk. 100% convinced by that. And even then irrespective of the fees and structures we overpaid for all 3 still. Not only that - will they ever be worth £115m, £106m and £72m? Absolutely unconvinced although Caicedo looks much better than he did this time last season. Either way the project has been a shambles. And people cannot disagree or defend the indefensible now - people argued the owners put their money where their mouth was, that Tuchel was at fault, that Poch was at fault, that the recruitment would set us up for best part of a decade…. can remember reading on here that a MF of Enzo, Caicedo and Lavia would be of the best in the PL and Europe before Caicedo and Lavia even kicked a ball for us 🙄🤣 I have been vocal about this ownership and the structure they’ve put in place since they sacked Tuchel - the downwards spiral has been wild and absolutely self inflicted through incompetency at every level. I would say recruitment has been our biggest and most consistent issue since that first summer window under Boehly-Clearlake and it is still our biggest and most consistent issue… I mean who is greenlighting us signing players like Felix (TWICE!!!!), Sancho, Jorgensen, Disasi, Tosin….

I think Santos will be integrated for sure but Veiga not so much. Mainly as the club seem to be firm believers in Badiashile over the long run based off various reports. Maresca also reportedly not wanting Veiga, usually playing him as a LB, the issues with discipline and him now going and playing his preferred position at a big club like Juventus, makes it incredibly more difficult for us to keep him IMO. If we change manager, maybe more of a chance but I am 90% certain he will be off. But I think at the same time, whilst he has started well at Juventus that it is not an absolute given he will be this elite level player. Remains to be seen. But I think we will sell.
-
Veiga will be signed by Juventus I feel. Clearly he is making a massive impression already and they are in the race for European football. I think around 25m euros and a sell on clause would probably be seen as enough for the club. I’d also imagine staying at Juventus would be a massive lure, not to mention he’s played as a CB mainly since going there which is what he see’s himself as in the long run. Definitely could have played minutes ahead of Colwill there for us but not sure what the thing was with Maresca. Reports were that it was discipline related. Then that he didn’t want the player - like many we recruited in the summer….. Or mix of both?
-
Short answer is Boehly and Eghbali are clueless. Really I think they think making us into Brighton will be deemed as successful. All this money we’ve cut off of wages and lowering the average age etc will ultimately mean nothing if the club doesn’t win trophies. It won’t be remembered. Said something similar about this the summer when we signed Caicedo, Lavia etc, folk were ranting and raving about how we got good young players on long term deals, lower wages, lower ages, how Boehly, Eghbali, Winstanley, Stewart, Joe Shields were all amazing and all that bullshit. The Abramovich model wasn’t perfect, far from it, but it was much much better than the current one because it was aimed at sporting success. Not spreadsheet success. This mob have done nothing but completely destabilised the club - we are on an incredible slope from a 15-20 years period that were incredibly successful despite the odd spell of turmoil every now and then.
-
Incredibly poor performance. Not one player can hold their head high. How can we have spent nearly £1.5 billion and be this fucking bad? Sporting directors have to go
-
This club is run by fucking cowboys. That list if accurate, for the bomb squad, how many were signed in the past 24 months? Absolutely ridiculous. Those 2 charlatans in charge of sporting direction need to go. Some of the players we are being linked to as well, abysmal. Not in a million years would some of these players be good enough for the club.
-
Well well well, Maresca and the club look like pillocks now. Going into the season thinking Jackson, Guiu and Nkunku (not even a CF) was going to be enough from match day 1 was amateur. Look, 2 of them are out and not at the elite level and the other has rarely featured in more than one game every fortnight for whatever reason. Bad result here and I can see the heat cranking up on Maresca. No CL and I don’t think he will be here for next season in all honesty, his half time team talks must be legendary given how shite we are in every second half as well as his constant baffling substitutions. Few teams within touching distance - a bad result is no good to us. What difference would a proper CF, CB & GK would of made last summer eh?
-
Not Jacksons fault but Maresca being over reliant on him will shoot us in the foot now barring Nkunku somehow getting into match rhythm from the get go with this injury.
-
Another young midfielder to go with the other 500 young midfielders we have. And not an attacking player or permament departure for the likes of Nkunku and Felix (loan is disappointing) who Maresca clearly doesn’t rate/trust. Few other guys out like Veiga, Chilwell, Disasi but if Cucurella gets injured who plays as LB? Big big gamble.
-
Colwill has to be one of the softest CBs we have had in years, genuinely, like I swear he gets outmuscled or looks flimsy as fuck more often than not.
-
So we want £60m for Felix…. after no team in Europe bar us were stupid enough to pay £42m for him last summer????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 These sporting director cunts are a joke
-
He will be too old now.
-
Are we considering recalling Kepa as well? Amateur hour if so boys. Know the managers denied it but still …
-
Should of dropped interest as soon as Villa quoted anything over £50m. Absolutely mind boggling. Good player and prospect but this apparent £70-80m valuation they have on him is insane. Not even their main striker…
-
Nah I don’t think the two of them have the brains to pick a team consisting of 11 players. They are muppets. They and Clearlake really have set this club back a good couple of years on the pitch anyway. Every manager seems to have these sort of 1 or 2 guys though where you ask why they the fuck are playing them regularly despite poor games/mistakes/missed chances costing us points. Disasi was usually always in with Poch last season despite being a mixed bag. Been Sanchez and Jackson with Enzo this year. Mourinho with Ivanovic when he was utter dog and dropped off big style. Tuchel with Werner & Havertz. Conte with Morata, Bakayoko….
