Well the Gk options aren’t particularly great are they? Our current number 1 was Brighton’s number 2/3 under de Zebri for like 12 months ago. For whatever the actual reasons were, was it his ability on the ball, making glaring mistakes or both etc… who knows but yeah. Jorgensen well… whilst he doesn’t look like he will be a top top GK, for whatever reasons hasn’t been deemed less of a bombscare than Sanchez so that tells me more than enough of what Maresca thinks of him. Who else have we got at the club? Bettinelli? Bergstrom? HG quota players. Then Petrovic, Penders (not sure if hes been signed and loaned bk or agreed to sign in the summer), Kepa, Sharman-Lowe on loan…. in all honesty we would be better sticking Willy Caballero in goal for the rest of the season because the options are wank.
-
Results keep going this way he will get sacked. Simple as. And throwing his weight behind Sanchez and Jackson every week will contribute to that unfortunately as they will cost us points frequently. He is the one making the team selections, it is worrying. The club have signed so many GKs too, obviously none of them good enough for an aspiring elite club (which is where we are now really) but even the boy Jorgensen… granted he isn’t the best or the answer clearly but fucking hell surely he cannot do any worse at the moment… Also, again something that seems to happen every game, what is Maresca saying to these players at HT? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Chelsea team come out in the second half and play so badly as frequently as this one does. It is incredible. Like how bad was that second half? Not Maresca related but Marmoush’s age, experience and profile is exactly the sorts of player we should be targeting to add to this group. Not fucking Garnacho or Bittens or whichever child prodigy CF who was born yesterday and can kick a ball straight we will be linked with tomorrow. For the love of god.

Granted still has to learn but definitely further along and a better prospect than he is getting credit for. There have definitely been moments where he has made poor decisions but he has also had a lot of positive moments and performances for United since breaking in. But with young players this is natural - although at his age to have over 100 appearances for Man Utd “in the best league in the world” and 8 caps for Argentina, there is clearly something there. Has probably already achieved more in his career at 20 than Mudryk at 24 or Noni at 22. He is definitely not who we should be going for due to his age, we need someone a few years older, further along and more proven in attack to help lift the burden on Cole for me given that we wont go and buy a CF. But I think people are getting blinded by the fact AG’s playing in a poor United side, who haven’t won a lot of games in recent months. Same way like Mainoo was getting it when we got linked to him, instantly folk are thinking they are very bad/overrated players because they are in a struggling side. Regarding not looking like a £60m player right now, do a lot of the buys we’ve made under Clearlake look like what we paid for them? Honestly I think not. The strategy is buy young and betting on potential. I think for £55-60m in todays market (for each of Mainoo & Garmacho) there are a lot worse options out there than them guys. Definitely. But its whether they are the right age or profile we should be going after. Back to the point I was trying to make re prices, we signed Mudryk for more and he’s awful. Also look at what we’ve paid for Enzo Fernandez & Romeo Lavia, irrespective of their potential, you can’t tell me £106m & £55m has been or may ever be good value for money for them…
-
I don’t buy the folk wanting us to sign Diblibg but not Garnacho. Like Dibling has played like 30-35 games his whole career for club & country. I mean I think that would be so stupid it would be incredible, even for this club. Garnacho is obviously a much much better player and more what we need given he is more someone who plays off the left, particularly given the whole Mudryk situation/ban. If Garnacho wasn’t a United player as well folk wouldn’t be as worried, I think the idea of us giving them £40-60m for a player is worse than the fact its Garnacho. I mean look at the outrage over the Mainoo links…. which again, incredible. I mean ideally we would go out and get someone aged 24-27 who plays that left wing position instead but cannot see it.
-
Its difficult though because we risk running players into the ground in MF due to constant injuries to Lavia especially. And those situations were different. We didn’t recall Courtois because we had Cech who was always available, same with Christensen as we had Azpi, Cahill, Luiz & Terry who were always available. Even Ake was recalled for 6 month with Conte. If Ugo is better than Santos ok recall him. But he is probably isn’t. But yeah whoever’s better and the managers preference, recall them as their will be a lot of minutes given the likely sales of KDH & Casadei on top of Lavia’s injuries. Not to mention we cannot afford to run Caicedo into the ground if Lavia is going to be out every 3rd game. Maresca is almost doing this to Cole as well basically because he doesn’t trust Nkunku or Felix. It will bite us on the arse.
-
Yeah he isn’t going anywhere, his pals from Brighton are still at the club, Ben Roberts and Paul Winstanley. Who apparently both had huge pull in recruiting him….
-
Thats the whole point in feeder clubs though. I mean for example if City did it with Girona and took a player mid season that could help their squad, it would be lauded as a great move. Leipzig also do it with players a lot. They tried to do it with Haaland in the January in particular before he went to Dortmund. Plus I doubt Santos returning is going to derail the rest of their season, he is a very promising player who has done well but he isn’t Messi or whoever, he isn’t carrying them. If he is capable and good enough to play here with Lavia always unfit then why not? Or was he another pointless signing who was bought with the intentions of selling for profit? The fans in France hate BlueCo, the ownership shouldn’t be too worried about the backlash now given the shit they got for previous decisions there. They really need to worry more about the main club in the portfolio because our fans are clearly not happy with them and the guys they have in charge of football operations.
-
Quite frankly if Santos is as good as folk make him out to be its a no brainer to recall him over Ugochuwku. Given the injuries. Strasbourg & BlueCo relationship will never get better anyway. Their fans have protested and objected to the partnership for almost as long as BlueCo have owned them so I don’t think that will be a sticking point. Its if there is a viable way to do it as some loan deals don’t have these options or have financial figures to make these recalls happen. Chelsea is the main club in the BlueCo portfolio/multi club model so everything that will be done irrespective is to benefit us. Even though its been an absolute mess from day 1.
-
He’s an absolute wank. I don’t get why opposition fullbacks aren’t just nailing him every chance they get, like he comes across as a pure and utter fanny every time he does an interview…. the club should keep him off of all press/pre & post match duties 😂 I get why he stole the goal, it was an easy one for him to nick and adds to his stats (plus a goal from an attacker can mask how average they playes) but he has like 6 goals in the PL, he’s not exactly lighting it up, is he? Why would anyone tell their NT manager they scored a hattrick in a reverse fixture about 6 months ago? Does he think that means something in the present moment or? Is it him just waxing his own ego 😂?
-
Yep still think its more than likely because he is profitable in their eyes. No injury crisis and he wouldn’t of been recalled. And we would likely still be worse off. I mean Trevors skillset and also versatility (has played as a CB, RB and DM in various spells at clubs) screams out very useful squad player, no? For instance, was the same reason people were blowing up about Veiga “oh he can play as a 6, a CB and a LB” despite having probably never seen him play.
-
Anyone who is willing to play Sanchez as often despite signing 2 new GKs and having another 954 guys in that position on the books is obviously a yes man… But yes your right, he should have been retained. Much better option than Tosin, Disasi & Badiashile. Sometimes better than Levi who has been up and down. Was so evident last season with Pochettino never mind now but yes, Maresca maybe should of fought harder if he really rated him.
-
Why we loaned him out is beyond me. Looked very comfortable all game, ok not perfect but still very very comfortable. Shambolic decision to loan him in the summer 👍
-
Look Garnacho isn’t a bad player (in another window and with other options in attack, would of 100% taken him) but the whole thing for me is he is another u21 player who is learning the game and won’t immediately improve what we’ve got. The age group of what we are looking to recruit for has been wrong for 12 months at least now. We need good established and proven players to help the younger guys along. Why we keep being linked to these u21 players is absolutely beyond me - obviously the sporting directors think having the lowest average age of match day squad is better than winning trophies….
-
Fagioli… he doesn’t even start regularly for Juventus for fuck sake 😂 The desperation to get rid of some of these guys like Disasi, Veiga and Chilwell is going to land us with even more shit players from swap deals/PSR loopholes/FFP loopholes.
-
It’s obviously been the goal since day 1, because well why else would they do these retarded moves??? I mean if they want us to become Southampton or a shitter version of Brighton, they are going the right way. And another GK? Are we going to become an NFL team or what? Fucks the point?
-
Means nothing given it is clear he has no immediate or long term future by the looks of Maresca’s comments and Italian club’s are reportedly offering just above half of what we paid for him in loan to buy/option to buy deals. Maybe he still has a bright future but not here and it is increasingly likely we will take a loss, like with many, although a future sell on fee is a very good move.
-
We will not get what we paid for either Felix or Casadei because they aren’t worth what we paid. Simple as that… folk were creaming themselves over the Felix signing for the price we got him at, fuck me we cannot even break even on him now hes effectively up for sale. Great deal….
-
No idea but we already had Nkunku and Cole as number 10s before we signed him anyway. So yes why did we sign him?
-
Glad someone’s said it. Been waiting for 6 months, in that time he has been an ever present and important player for Atletico…. Santos loan recall may be next option if Lavia is gonna be struggling to keep fit? Cole is out so I do hope we see Nkunku playing off the frontman (which I assume will be Michael Jackson). And I hope he plays well and shows Maresca that he should of been using him there much more frequently. Instead of running Palmer into the ground this last 6-8 weeks.
-
You seem shocked. The co-sporting directors are idiots & should be held accountable. I mean loaning Chalobah then recalling him 6 months later when he was better than Tosin from the get go is the most recent one. KDH signing in general - sooner he is shipped out the better as was a waste of time and money. Signing Veiga and now looking at selling him, apparently Maresca didn’t want from the get go & now off the field issues… do the club not do their homework on that side of things also? And looks even stupider given the managers frozen out Chilwell and the club let Hall go to Newcastle too. Felix as well now looking likely, signed for £42m and now going to be sold. Again, Maresca didn’t want him if reports are to be believed. Anyone who tries to say they are competent are having a laugh. Thats just some iffy decisions from players signed this summer alone. Not to mention that again now all the manager will be talking about the whole month is outgoings, just like the summer. Can see him getting irritated even more given how bad results have been the last 5/6 weeks. Personally would get shot of the fucking pair of them co sporting cunts in the summer and go a different way, cannot keep signing u21 players and expect to be competitive and win trophies. Absolutely shambolic. You can see the team lacks know how and leaders - yet its always u21 kids we are after. Been banging on about them for at least 1 and a half years now - absolutely out of their depth and ruining any chance we have of getting back to competing at the top end of the table. Also big no to Garnacho and Gittens. Good prospects but sign a good, established player who will do it week in week out for the next 4/5 years. Someone who is going to bring some much needed goals and assists to help Cole out.
-
Not trying Nkunku as a 10 more has been a huge issue for me. Or even m as a 9 to take Jackson out for a rest/when underperforming/struggling to convert big chances. Palmer is the best player we have but he cannot compete every game at that level, we’ve already seen it. He was also heavily used under Poch last season and he is starting to look leggy at times in this last 5 weeks. Really not surprised at the lack of minutes for Felix though, he is the biggest definition of a luxury player and if the rumours are the manager didn’t want him then I can see why he’s maybe not played a lot either from that side, like KDH and even Jorgensen. Completely agree on Sancho, can be severely lacking at times and tends to drift in and out of games far too often (but I think all of our attackers tend to do this barring Cole without considering this last month to 6 weeks). For me, like Felix, Sancho is more of a luxury player than someone you can count on every week to show up, do the business and put a shift in. I am a bit worried that Maresca sees him as a key part of the team in the long run. Don’t get me wrong prefer him to Mudryk, least he can provide some moments of quality but needs to take himself to the next level and be consistent if he wants to make good on his potential.

The club went down this path before though with Costa and Morata although slightly different due to Morata’s perceived qualities as a footballer. Costa scored a lot of goals for us and was a lot more physical but apparently he didn’t link up play well enough at times for peoples liking, particularly on here the amount of moaning about that side of his game was frustrating. Then Conte binned him, we got Morata who was a much more technically proficient, neater, bit more clever/quicker upstairs to connect with Eden/Pedro/Willian etc but he ultimately didn’t do enough in front of goal. Then people questioned why did Conte let someone who was a really efficient player in front of goal go for someone in that mould. It’s a hard conundrum but goals win you games. Jackson does things well but his finishing is so erratic and the polar opposite of some of his approach play/movement at time, its borderline pathetic watching him when he goes through a lot of the time. And if we could get someone who you know is 90% likely going to score 20 goals a season but maybe not do as much but it helps the team move up the table, then what do you do? It makes me wonder if he ever will find that clinical edge and become a good CF, not even a top top CF. Because he is right now an up and coming CF who could be a good one but only with some real real real hard work on the training ground with a bag of balls, a goalkeeper and some goalposts. In comparison, it is a similar case to Darwin Nunez at Liverpool for example. Probably should score more but too erratic. Either way if he stays or leaves or whatever, another CF is 100% required. Or give Nkunku an actual run out for 4 or 5 matches in a row in the PL and see what he does.
-
United been poor but Amorin definitely has something about him, which I didn’t expect as was skeptical when were linked to him. Speaks well, not afraid of bruising egos clearly, made multiple subs early tonight and in other games when players perform badly/miss easy chances (wish Maresca would take a leaf out his book at times regarding the subs). Get the feeling RA is going to need to completely gut that squad in the summer and bin as much shite from it as he can though and until he does that Utd going nowhere fast.
-
Tosin will leave? Good. I know he was a free but another stupid signing by the club. We needed to replace Thiago Silva and ended up signing a 4th choice/squad filler CB when we already had Chalobah (funnily enough had an important role in the second half of last season under Poch when he came back in). I get Tosin’s a more experienced player in comparison to some of the other boys in the defence but that makes no difference, we needed someone who would be good enough to come in from the get go and be authoritative and lead the defence in the way that guys like Thiago has done in the past, or van Dijk, Dias, Saliba etc elsewhere. Not his fault but why bring him in after losing Silva? Same with KDH to replace Gallagher effectively given the club were pushing to get him out ASAP, why? Both players aren’t up to it. If the club ever thought they were, I would be incredibly worried but have repeatedly said that the sporting directors need to be held accountable and answer a lot of questions regarding various signings. Particularly with guys in the summer window, all of Tosin, Jorgensen, Felix, Veiga, KDH & Kellyman are very questionable signings with regards to their ability/playing time/consistency.

Whilst the performances at the beginning of the season were better and more clinical in the final thir, I still think we were lucky that teams didn’t punish us at certain moments of games as we were still conceding some guilt edge chances. Now things have sort of evened out (not as clinical for sure) and we are being punished but this is a trend that Maresca should have noticed long before it happened. The club should have also been actively looking for a player who is a lot more experienced and with leadership qualities for the defence - this is killing us every week. Not to mention a GK & CF. Re game management and all that - the manager needs to be a bit quicker with his attacking subs for sure in games, if he does make a sub before 70th minute it is normally putting another midfielder in and changing Caicedo to RB or taking Caicedo back into MF and bringing in a RB. Has done that too many times for my liking. Like the other night, waiting to 81st minute to change attacking players when your 2-1 down is absolute ludicrous. The collapse after HT was also so clear (happened several times now), I don’t know what he is saying to the lads or what the lads are thinking - we cannot keep putting it down to inexperience of the players now some of these guys have been here for 3 seasons now, know the league, how games can go etc. I think if things keep going as they’ve gone the last 5/6 games and the likes of Newcastle, City & Bournemouth keep picking up points, he may find himself in a more vulnerable position than he would want to be come the summer. As I said in thread previously, the club and leadership are adamant this is a CL level squad. Not being there come the summer after sitting comfortably in there for a while will be deemed a failure. The idiots up the stairs are also trigger happy, despite this notion or not wanting to be, this much is clear.
