Hernandez one of most overrated LBs in Europe. So poor defensively. Always has been.

Footballs a game of opinions. I don’t think it would be wrong to say we’ve made no real progress under Potter. A handful of games aside, performances haven’t been good enough. Not at all. But yeah lets use 2 CL games against AC Milan 4 months ago as a good barometer as opposed to a lot of performances since then where we really have struggled against poor sides - not even considering the big teams. If we want to make real progress not only quicker but with the aim of becoming a top top team over a sustained period, we will need to replace Potter. 100%.

Hes never played as a number 9 before ever though. When will we learn? He’s always played off a CF…. Feels like we’re just gonna end up repeating what we did with Havertz all again. Same way Felix has never played as an actual 9 either with any real success. People seem to think Nkunku or Felix are gonna solve our CF issues. They wont. Because they arent CFs. Simple as that.
-
And people thought he was gonna be our number 9…

Tbf anyone with eyes can assess his work. Not good enough

I dont necessarily think so. Rice isn’t necessarily just a sitting midfielder although neither is Casemiro. Both have more to their game and Rice has started chipping in with goals and more offensive contributions. West Ham played both Rice and Soucek who are actually quite similar and it worked well. Even if Rice played here, he wouldn’t be just sitting in front of the back 4, he’d probably be in a more box to box role with Enzo deeper pulling the strings. He predominantly plays in a midfield paring as well as opposed to as a pivot.

What punishments can the independent commission impose on a club? Suspend a club from playing league matches Points deductions Recommend to the board that league matches be replayed Recommend to the board that the league expels the respondent club Order compensation Cancel or refuse registration of players Conditional punishment Order the club to pay costs Make such other order as it thinks fit Well I reckon from there, its its going to be compensation/conditional punishment more than likely. Because well its the PL and I doubt they will want to jump through all the hoops to make the league weaker by relegating City for example. People thinking titles will be stripped (alongside relegation) are living in cuckoo land for me. So if the PL as a product is the “best league in the world” why would they expel one of the best teams in the world? With the best players? Best coach etc? It just weakens the PL. City will probably pay some daft figures and that will be it. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12804623/man-city-premier-league-charges-explained-what-are-they-what-could-punishment-be-whats-the-timescale

Walk the league…. Optimistic

Do we look better? We were a much better team last season and people still complained we were poor. We don’t look better in any facet bar the fact we’ve lowered the average age of the squad by recruiting younger players on long term contracts. Performances aren’t there. Results aren’t there. When this seasons done we are all gonna sit down and say we’ve spent £600m and look worse for it. Because 1) the manager isn’t at the level 2) we have a huge fuck off sized squad that will have some very unhappy personnel by the end of the season which wont help things and 3) its going to take time for these signings to come in and deliver consistently. The footballs shite. The managers shite and way way way way out of his depth. Even if Liverpool and City change managers its not exactly a good thing is it? Because they will undoubtedly get competent replacements and undoubtedly their players wont play as badly/inconsistently as this season either. ”City might get relegated” crack the next joke. Do you really think the PL is going to relegate a team that has a £1 billion squad and has won 11 trophies in the past 7 years? That has the best manager of the best managers out there in club football at the helm? And has some of the richest club owners in the footballing world? 🤣

Even if they get what Juventus got. They’ll still be above us. On goal difference. By about 31 goals. Would say we should focus on ourselves and not Man City because at present we are, for a lack of a better word, honking. That bad to watch that I am gonna steal a Roy Keane saying “probably wouldn't watch us if we were playing in my back garden”. I mean other clubs getting point deductions not gonna make us a good team is it? So why theirs a huge obsession as if its gonna improve our fortunes is ludicrous. In fact, I will gon on a limb and say City could get a 15 point deduction and still have 90% more of a chance of making the top 4 than we will.
-
It wont happen. They will wriggle out of it or it’ll be a fine. Plus even if they got a point deduction not gonna improve our chances of making the top 4. We need to do that by improving ourselves.
-
Precisely. Him playing here as a 10 and ending up any better is an absolute no go for me. If he was going to be much much better player as a 10 do people not think he would be playing that position regularly?
-
Have to disagree, their squad definitely wasn't a weak one. Their starting 11 was also pretty good most games, consisted of players such as Unai Simon, Rodri, Laporte, Busquets, Gavi, Pedri, Asensio, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo. For their starting 11 and squad, the standard of football barring against Costa Rica who were shocking was piss poor. No penetration. Played a poor Germany team and Japan, weren't convincing at all. Even against Morocco, again poor and boring to watch sideways and backwards a lot. Played nothing like his Barca team who won the treble, now they were incredible to watch. He won’t come to the PL anyway I’d imagine.
-
Jump in performances but not results. No thanks. And for year 1. Well we’ve not seen any ideas this season bar using Sterling at RWB and continuing as the best team in the world at passing the ball around the back 4 needlessly and aimlessly, with no goal of getting up the pitch.
-
You would think some progress would’ve been made since he came in, not like our squad was a bad one before.
-
Wont lie people saying about 2 weeks before next game coming up. Its not gonna make a difference, we have literally got no cohesion or patterns of play that are noticeable and we don’t press. At all. Funnily enough I get theres a lot of new players but there isn’t any noticeable improvements from Tuchel at the season start to Potter. Dortmund gonna be a very tough game - wouldn’t be surprised if Boehly & co are looking elsewhere come the summer for a coach. Lot of reports we are keeping an eye on the Austrian guy at Eintracht Frankfurt…
-
Either Willian or Paulinha in MF for Fulham, he has also been excellent. Just seems to know where the ball is going all the time. Hes been pretty good all season too from what I’ve read.
-
Gallagher has been for the lack of better words, absolutely honking. Never seen somebody do the hard bit in winning the ball back then fucking give it away so many times in my life. And then other times he’s just chasing his first touch. Is he Chelsea quality at present? No. Will he ever be? Not sure. Did he just take a corner and hit the first man? My god another one joins the club.
-
Think Mudryk coming off? Would of taken Sterling on if he’s fit tbf. Even Ziyech would of taken him off. Wingers been unproductive.
-
Would of took him in instead of Mudryk if I was honest. Nothing against Mudryk but I think BB has been pretty exceptional since he’s come in really. He looks like he’s been here for ages. Plus him and Silva look like they are our best pairing already. Why not take that in Europe?
-
He played as a 10, as a CF and as a RW/wide 10 in a 3421 at Bayer. Either way he has no excuses for producing what he produces week in week out. Also hes played as a CF for Germany too as well as here for almost 2 years now. He doesn’t strike me as someone with any obvious creative traits either so better upfront than a 10 here Id say. And even then he’s not much upfront.
-
Think theres been 2 or 3 good passes through the lines from Enzo but I am a bit concerned with how easily Fulham were getting into their frontman through their MF. Wouldn’t say anyone’s been hugely impressive. Nothing looks hugely different from the other games. And I don’t know if we are playing with a 2 man pivot or 3 man MF with a single pivot. Either way defensively the MFers, Enzo included, not protecting or doing enough off the ball barring the odd 2 or 3 tackles.
-
Fulham also looking more likely to nick something with the amount of recoveries their making in the final third. Although our press under Potter has always been non existent. And I’m all for playing out but daft passes like that one from Mudryk into Enzo when someones literally a millimetre behind him in his own half will kill us against a team like these. Never mind against a proper good team. Just begging for him to be dispossessed in a dangerous area of the park, then Kepa wtf lol. Also Kai, thats why we need to sell him, will never ever ever be reliable as a 9.
-
Not pressing high with this group of mobile and athletic players is a mistake. Also Fulham managing to find passes beyond Enzo and Gallagher (not disciplined enough for a 2 as we look more 4231 than 433) with far too much ease first half. Big gaps. Cucurella also struggling but Mudryk not really working back either with Tete.
-
Really? Would say that chance for Havertz there is as much proof that somebody like Enzo who is willing to look for runners in behind teams could suit someone like Mason who is a willing runner. Quality of pass there too, bit of defending and bad miss from Havertz.
