  1. Not necessarily. The worst thing is with these contract talks being shelved it can just linger like a cloud over the player. As it did with both Courtois (who eventually ended up forcing a move) and Hazard (who again had no intentions on resigning here despite several offers being made). It was clear once we shelved their contract talks for whatever reasons, be it focusing on the remainder of the season or whatever, they would be leaving. Plus Mason’s apparent wage demands have already been used as a stick to beat him with so this will just provide more ammunition for folk despite it being the club wanting to shelve them to the summer due to no breakthrough in prior negotiations. Who’s to say he will want to renew in the summer? Its more than likely a reality that we are going to finish mid table this season and no doubt him and his agent will be looking out and about for alternatives. Suppose it could also be very dependant on if Graham Potters still in charge next season too because I will put my neck out and say we will likely be mid table again by the end of that season. Seeing very little to indicate that he can do anything to change the tide regardless of how many players we sign. I have a pretty strong feeling Liverpool will ramp their interest up in Mason come the summer. A sale would again throw some big questions at the owner plus the ramifications for the academy if he’s willing to shift one of the biggest success stories of it because he wont put his hands in his pockets to pay a wage similar to what he’s given other players. There should already be concerns for anybody trying to break through the academy to first team in the next 18-24 months as it is with say 60% of our signings being 22 and under. I don’t see how there is a pathway between the academy and first team for a lot of players now based on the last 2 windows. Not that it was hugely strong beforehand but it was easier to see I think more so than ever over the last 3 or 4 seasons. And then if the reason is we need to sell players for FFP then maybe Boehly and co shouldn’t of been so prominent in spending £600m in 1 season without fully understanding the ramifications of FFP.
  2. 2 days off? We’ve been fucking shite for months who’s thought the best thing to do is give the players 2 days off? Not surprised one bit this team is a soft touch. Days off for doing shite?
  3. He only had the greatest front 3 in modern day footballing history though who scored something like 300 goals in 3 seasons between then. And even then, he left after the third season for whatever reasons when performances were very very bad. Plus lets not forget his transfer record was abysmal at Barcelona, he is credited with signing the likes of Turan, Alcacer, Andre Gomes, Dennis Suarez, Jeremy Mathieu, Aleix Vidal, Lucas Digne. Really, Luis Suarez and Rakitic were really the only successful buys he made. His Spain team were also one of the most boring sides I’ve seen in forever. One game against Costa Rica who were awful wont change that. Personally would let Atletico Madrid appoint him as is heavily being speculated. I know Potter is out of his depth but Enrique isnt the answer. Pochettino is more likely to fit the clubs strategy and I would expect him to do better here than the likes of Enrique or Zidane but still have doubts over how successful we would be with him.
  4. Jurys still out but he looks much better than what Mudryk has if I am honest. Not been impressed with him at all bar 10-15 mins v Liverpool.
  5. That interview, about making changes, wow. The guy is just deluded. We were hopelessly and hilariously outplayed by a team who are 20th. The longer Boehly and co back this guy will only be more detrimental to this clubs long term success. Barring a few good January signings their repeated faith in this guy is laughable and makes me very very nervous. How far will they let us fall off the cliff?
  6. Yep Kovacic having to do a lot of extra work in there himself. Enzo again not too aware of whats going on behind him but don’t think thats naturally his game. Kante is a huge loss. Think he would be the best partner for him.
  7. 🤣 shows how long you’ve been on here have had that name since we signed Mo back in 2014
  8. Havertz on. Oh god. Cause hes going to change the game for us. We need to sack Potter ASAP jesus christ
  9. We weren’t exactly hugely consistent v Dortmund though either. Maybe played good for around 20-25 minutes. All the changes we’ve made you would think the team would be fresh but they aren’t showing it at all. Outfought to every first or second ball. Every header. Everything. Only side I’ve seen make Southampton look reasonably good in a while.
  10. @YorkshireBlue are you writing out the give Potter time posts in preparation for another loss? Lets hope Potter gets angry at half time….. be a usual change from strolling around doing nothing.
  11. Yes because Mount and Mount alone is the reason we are playing shit as a team. Also, this is one of the sorriest first halfs of football I’ve ever seen from a Chelsea team. Making Southampton look good. Despite having £500m + worth of players on the pitch.
  12. 3 attempts 1 on target. We are the home team. Playing Southampton…. Jesus
  13. Mental how Southampton have looked shite all season yet when they play us all of a sudden they look good. Yet people think we will make progress under Graham Potter. Embarrassing.
  14. Wow you really are a strange one aren’t you 😂? I mean he was here for 18 months. Where as Sarri one season. Di Matteo 9 months and Grant also was in charge for 9 months. You’ll pick holes in his win ratio yet for months you’ve been coming up with every excuse under the sun for somebody who has the second worst win rate in the clubs history after 24 games. Embarrassing really. I mean Potter could be here for 5 seasons and wont achieve what Tuchel did in 18 months.
  15. Selling the homegrown players that are/could be regular fixtures here would be a catastrophic mistake IMO. The likes of James, Chalobah, Broja and Mount are shining examples to the academy and I thought Boehly had wanted to sustain the academy influence in the squad also? I mean it took years and years for us to finally integrate academy players now people seem particularly desperate to see us sell Mason and Trevor who can definitely offer something here? Plus the current influx of players signed under 21 and selling academy/homegrown players like those isn’t going to really paint a positive picture for any of the young guys wanting to break through here either is it? We have to get the balance right.
  16. Also had a fully fit Kante who was basically MOTM in what like 4 games in the run you to the final, also had Rudiger, Jorginho, Christensen, Mount all flying and playing extremely well. And as you mentioned an elite manager. I get optimism but I think it will be a tough tough ask.
  17. I think giving Auba a chance is a fair shout tbf. I mean how much longer are we going to persist with Kai who usually occupies the same areas as Felix and is usually far too deep despite playing as a 9? Granted Auba is past his peak but he is the sort of guy who would thrive off some of this service we should be able to provide with these attacking players.
  18. Wouldn’t say he’s necessarily made it any easier for the guy to score. But suppose there is always going to be a minority who will say he should do better for everything. I do suppose rather than blame a 100m+ player who may as well of not been there, doing his best “Jorginho impression” as people may want to put it, lets blame the GK who did everything right by coming out and trying to put the striker off. Or rather than blame the managers kamikaze idea of leaving somebody in a position where they could be 1 v 1 at a corner also. I suppose Kepa could have scored the chance Joao Felix hit the bar with the too so that’s his fault also?
  19. Didn’t play great but still had countless opportunities to run beyond our MF 2 with ease (particularly first half, along with Can) who looked more concerned about playing with the ball and forgetting about protecting the central defenders when we didn’t have it. On another day he could of played much better and affected the game more so hopefully we don’t afford such opportunities. Kante is a huge huge miss as this sort of thing is his bread and butter. Getting back and getting a foot in.
  20. The midfield situation needs addressing also. We have got a good mix of players for playing in there but Enzo and Ruben as a pair, without the ball, honestly… they look miles off it. Particularly when guys start running off of them. I don’t know how many times the likes of Can and Bellingham ran into spaces behind them (particularly first half it was like every time they got the ball) but it certainly seemed a lot. Kante is a huge miss for sure. That ability to recover 5-10 metres and get his foot in is a huge huge bonus. I know Enzo is still getting up to speed with his new team mates etc but I am beginning to think maybe having Paredes and De Paul in alongside him for Argentina certainly helped him do his thing. Not sure about at Benfica as didn’t see as many matches but we certainly need to find that right balance and partner for him
  21. If Conte stays at Spurs why would he sign him when he has Kane 🤣
  22. Here he goes post match with the over complicated answers and the interviewer talking about luck etc too 😂 for fuck sake
  23. I wouldn’t go that far, we’ve improved a bit but hardly completely played them off the park. Few big chances but you’d expect that with the players we have. Overall performance was meh. Parts that were better than games we’ve had but means fuck all if we lose such a silly goal to a counter from a set play. Still firmly in the Potter out camp, sooner the better. Aspects of this performance will buy him more time though in some peoples eyes
  24. Playing Felix and Havertz together is pointless. Both just drop deep and leaves us with nobody in the positions a CF should be in. Still cannot believe Havertz is starting every week
