Agree there. I know it's easy to talk in retrospective, but both hiring and then sacking him are such big mistakes. The first overlooked ability to avoid the fan's fury and seconds did exactly that except ten times worse.

It's because we need a LB here not an winger. Ryan is playing on the wing only in case of emergencies and for tactical purposes. Ryan is much better Lb, imo. PVA would be perfect if we ever switch to 3-5-2.

But the thing with Malouda is that he chose this. He was clearly told by the club in the summer that he is no longer needed and he got several offers to leave but he chose to stay and not play instead of taking a pay cut. Just like he has the contractual right to stay and see out his contract, the club has the right to not play him or let him train with the first team.

We've always known he can be brilliant on the attack but his defending is questionable.

The difference is purely in the attitude. Malouda goes and whines to the media and moans constantly on twitter about not playing despite him being the one who refused to take a pay cut and go play in Brasil while Paulo helps everyone on the training ground and has never said anything bad about the club. I agree that Malouda has the contractual right to stay and receive his pay, but once he makes that choice he does not have the right to moan and make the club look bad. And Paulo is a model professional, completely unfair to compare him to Malouda.

It's frightening how much better the whole team plays when Juan comes on. He can lift the whole team and change the game with a few touches. It may be my blue tinted glasses, but I think Juan is head and shoulders above any other number 10 in the league, even Silva. I don't want to stir up the discussion again but saying we did him a favor is very biased in my opinion. Regardless of his status at the club, it was extremely unfair to sack him two months into the season. We should not have given him the contract in the first place. I don't think he is good enough to be our permanent manager, but once we gave him that contract we should have given him until the end of the season at least. Sacking him and getting Benitez made absolutely no sense back then and is making even less sense with every passing game. Yes, he benefited from leading us to winning the CL, but after that I think we treated very harshly by offering him a contract then sacking him a few months later. We certainly didn't do him any favors there.

Never understood the issue of work permits in the UK. I mean if we want to hire him and he wants to work for us, where is the problem?! Anyway, on Omerou, I think he'll be with us in preseason in the summer and then the manager (whoever he turns out to be) will decide if should loan him out or not.
