It would take major fuck ups from all of United, Liverpool, Spurs and even Everton for that to happen. Honestly, right now, they probably have as much chance of getting relegated as finishing top 4.
-
On a different note, Solanke and Boga start for the U21s tonight so they will most definitely not be part of the squad tomorrow. EDIT: The youngsters that have traveled with the squad, as expected, are Ake, Christensen, Brown and Baker (and Zouma if you count him as a youngster).
-
Is Rami fit? If he wasn't fit yesterday I don't think he'll be fit to start tomorrow. Think he'll be on the bench at most.
-
Forget Fellaini, old man Dowd had him in his pocket all game: https://vine.co/v/OhLZrDBbe1l !
-
Speaking of Dowd, I think this should have been a yellow card for deliberate blocking! https://vine.co/v/OhLZrDBbe1l It is something that we have been struggling with for 2-3 seasons now. Yesterday we were particularly poor in that department because the transition was too slow and because our midfielders all had low passing accuracy (Fabregas had 63% in the first half!).
-
Gone for a second? We couldn't take advantage of the massive spaces in the united defense throughout the match because of our bad decision making in the final third. What on earth makes you think we would have been more likely to score than united had we gone for the second?! All that would have done is leave us more exposed at the back like we clearly were in the first half and united would most likely not have needed the ref's aid and added time to grab the goal.

Hermits don't have internet access!
-
So next big game we should just have our players shoot from 40 yards at every chance and our CBs to keep passing it between each other for as long as possible so that the stats show that we controlled the match by your definition? Because that is what united did for most of the second half. Yes, you are control when you have the lead and your opponents are having zero chances to score. But any team can concede from set-pieces, especially after having a man sent off. You can never have 100% guarantees that you won't score you can only take the approach that gives you the highest likelihood of success and we did that.

Been injured for a while. He was actually back in Cobham to receive treatment for a while. Think he went back to Arnhem a few days ago.
-
Understatement of the month, that! I'm gonna go with he didn't know/forgot that he was supposed to be marking Fellaini after Iva went off. Free header from 8 yards out. What a stop by Thibaut!
-
"Matic, in the middle of our pitch, Matic..."
-
Below average performance yesterday just like Cesc and Oscar. What was with our central midfielders yesterday? Thankfully Matic had a great game or we would have been in serious trouble.
-
I reckon that no more than 2 youth players will start, namely Ake and Zouma, in addition to a couple of fringe players in Salah and Mikel. I think the suspensions at the back will mean that both JT and Cahill start. Brown, Solanke and Baker likely to be on the bench.
-
But they did execute that perfectly. It was just lack of defensive organization on a (non-existent) FK in 94th minute after one of our players was (wrongly) sent off. If Iva was still on we most like would have defender the FK. But since Iva was sent off, the players were still trying to work out who is to mark who. Cahill let Fellaini (who was originally Iva's man but he was covering for him) slip and young inexperienced Zouma was ball watching and let RVP to the ball first. Simple as.

West Ham put in one of the best performances I've seen this season in the first half against City. They utterly and completely out-played them.
-
Pissed off Torres? I like him already!

You're too idealistic, Dion. Let me give you a snap shot of the state of the Lebanese government right now to make you feel better about Brasil -The strongest presidential candidate is a war criminal who killed and massacred thousands of Lebanese during the civil war based on religion only and helped Israel invade Lebanon. Since his opposition can't come up with a stronger candidate all they can do is block a vote so we have been without a president for over 6 months. -The parliament has for the second time "renewed for itself" against all laws and constitution for "security reasons" destroying any remaining resemblance to democracy. -The term of the council of ministers has ended over 6 months ago so right no there is literally no one to take or implement any executive decisions in the country and support our army in its war with extremist ISIS-related groups in several regions of the country since right now they are having to settle for compromising and letting the terrorists go every time because of the lack of political decision to end those terrorist groups. So basically, right now, it would be a step in a positive direction if our unconstitutional parliament got together to elect the the traitorous war criminal so that he could form a new council of ministers that is able to decide that we need to kill the terrorists in our country. Feel better?
-
Good, then they should see no problem in coughing up at least 35m for him!
-
We opened the scoring in the 54th minute. Name 2 united goal-scoring chances in the 40 minutes that followed. When you're in the lead and you stop united from creating literally anything in their own stadium for 40 minutes, then that is basically the definition of controlling the match.
-
Close second for MOTM after Thibaut for me. Did absolutely everything from defending, to holding and linking up to scoring our only goal. Can't belive people were moaning about him starting when we've had to put up with Torres for 3 and half years! What was more brilliant, imo, is that united had Rafael marking him for a set-piece!
-
Arsenal had a couple of chances in the first half that was very open and even, but in the second half they had absolutely NOTHING. We completely dominated them in the second half and we were in complete control of everything till the 94th minute.
-
To be fair, Didier probably caused some real psychological damage to all Arsenal players of the last decade or so. Cesc probably just gets scary flashbacks every time he sees him!
-
Even my Twitter TL is littered with stuff about the Brazilian elections for some reason! 51%? Pretty close. Was she the one you were rooting for (if you don't mind me asking, of course)?
-
Exactly that. It's about what is most likely to get the points in a certain situation. NOTHING guarantees you a win in any given situation, but Jose's methods have been proven to give his teams the most likely hood. Regarding Oscar and Cesc, I think it was more of a one-game-off kind of thing for them. Even Mikel was pretty bad when he came on. Willian.....was his usual self in the final third decision making.
