But they have next to zero chance of winning regardless of whether they qualify to the knock-out rounds. That's like saying you don't want Westham or Southampton beating City in the league because Westham/Southampton winning the league with such low budgets would eclipse all of our PL titles!
It's not about who plays it's about who you are playing against. They are much more likely to drop points after a mid-week CL game against Real than after a meaningless match against Steaua.
I know what you mean, but I don't think united will go away anytime soon. They have shown that they will spend big and get big names even when they're not playing CL. They aren't Tottenham or even Arsenal. United are top 5 biggest clubs in the world even when they finish 7th in their own league!
The clean sheet wasn't as easy as it looked. Sure he got lucky with the pen (though he probably would have saved it had it been on target), but at 1-0 he made a couple of very good saves and important catches from corners and crosses. He earned the clean sheet.
We are sooooo not a false nine kind of team! That in no way should be our priorities. I'll be wholeheartedly rooting for utd against City to get a bigger lead at the top of the table.
I think he would have come on had Remy not been injured. But at 4-0 up you have to give the two teenagers on the bench the incredible experience of playing in the CL. It is invaluable for them in terms of confidence but also a motivation for all the players in the academy that they can play for Chelsea in the champions league as well if they work hard. Salah will start against Shrewsburry next week. It's no big deal.
Honestly I don't think Maribor were bad at all, we just were incredible. Actually, I think up until the penalty, they had managed to keep up very well. But once Didier scored, they had to abandon their defensive organization and we just picked them apart at will!
Nope. He said in the prematch conference for this match that he is a very good LB and even though he does not have the physical attributes and experience of Matic and Mikel he can play there if needed. It was a point related to both Mikel and Ramires being injured.
I think he will likely go on loan. I think Jose sees him primarily as a defender and not a midfielder and with Iva, Azpi and Luis I don't see him getting much minutes. That said, good performance tonight and a brilliant assist to top it off.
I don't think I have EVER seen JT run the length of the pitch that quickly....or at all really! He's really been amazing tonight. Not just the goal. The ball for Remy's goal was sublime. And he's made a few crucial interceptions and been solid as always at the back.
Hearing that is the XI: Chelsea XI: Čech, Ivanović, Filipe, Zouma, Terry, Fabregas, Oscar, Hazard, Matić, Willian, Rémy subs: Courtois, Drogba, Salah, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Aké, Solanke A bit surprising if true.
I think it's much more complicated than that. Many more factors involved not the least of which are the attitudes of the youth players themselves an issue that is not helped by all the money in youth football in England and the quite ridiculous wages of the youth players.
