Still dont want to see him in the pivot. Theres a difference from what he does in the #10 role defensively than what we'd expect from him in the pivot.

    Oscar not creative???
    Y'all can suck my balls.
He was terrific yesterday vs Hull and it's because he played a similar role to the one he plays for Brazil. He was everywhere, inter-linking and exchanging 1-2's quick and decisively. There's one thing you can say about Oscar when he plays without the shackles is he always scores.
I love this little fella he's an absolute Beast!!!!!

Because of his positioning, leadership, reading of the game, and most importantly because of his quality and composure on the ball under pressure. Sure you can bring up the pass to Marcelo that resulted in Uruguay's goal, but apart from that he had a perfect tournament. Every player makes mistakes against the world's best, it's just that when you are in defense they are there for all of the world to see. Look at Hummels, Pique, Ramos, and Kompany in major tournaments and league games, who make them much more often, and are still considered the best in the world. Thiago is head and shoulders above them.
And Dante was world class before his one season at Bayern (the reason they bought him), as anyone who follows German football can tell you.

Point taken but that doesn't change how teams set up against us. They will deny him the space he thrives on whether or not Lampard holds his position or Ramires has a decent first touch. He is very easy to negate. Hazard plays better with his back to goal, is quicker and a much better dribbler. It's time he was given a proper chance in that position behind the forward.
You don't have to defend Mata like I'm on a wind-up. Were just having a civilised debate fella, no need to get heated.

He didn't. But if you think simply scoring a goal = playing well then I'm not going to argue with you. But I also remember you saying Lampard was poor against Everton this season despite scoring two goals. I'm not saying anything different to what you were saying then. Mata is a luxury player and when we're on top of games and have 60% possesion then he's a great player to have. But when we're playing good teams who compete well physically he disappears. When Hazard and Mata switched positions today Hazard was able to affect the game from central areas by going past people and carrying the ball. Mata cannot do that because he doesn't have the legs. He is also extremely weak and small. He offers nothing defensively and did practically nothing going forward, talented but in games like this he's a luxury we can't afford. He would have been good option to come off the bench today when the game opened up in the second half. Oscar and Moses would have competed better from the start.

His goal against Wigan a few weeks ago in the 4-1 win technically brilliant as well. The composure he showed to finish off that goal was excellent.

I see no reason why oscar and mata can't play in turns in the same position after all mata can't play all the time and we need 2 good players for every position its just that oscar is also versatile that's why he is being used in other positions too.

Brilliant performance last night from Oscar. This kid is special.
Neymar was a disappointment. Lucas looked very bright. Brazil are going to struggle if they can't find any midfielders better than Ramires and Paulinho. They may be good athletes but they just aren't good midfielders. I hope Chelsea don't go anywhere near Paulinho.
I think he's going to be even better than Fabregas. Let's not forget there's nearly a five year age gap between them.

I think 2006 was more fatigue than anything else. The amount of football he played caught up to him, and it showed. I will agree it was a terrible tournament though.
The idea that Ronaldinho would be a part of even a safe lineup has to bode well for his chances as long as he keeps his nose clean. I do think Hernanes will get a midfield spot due to his utility. Who gets the playmaking role will be a toss, but I feel it is simply Ronaldinho's to lose if Kaka is out the picture.

I'd hardly call Ronaldinho a flop for Brazil. He wasnt the same as he was for club, but that isnt the same as a flop.
Also it is insanity to say Ronaldinho wasnt as good as people thought. He was, and still is, the real deal when he isnt partying.
The simple fact is felipao hasnt called him up to be played out of position, and if keeps his head on straight(and Kaka stays on the fringe) he will be the central man, and Oscar isnt good enough on the wings to play there for them.
Oscar was/is Mano's man, and the new call ups(and line-up) will prove that next month.

    2. Do you know what adapt means? And do you realize that doesnt happen over one night?
    3. Oscar has had his moments of brilliance. You see it every now and then. Just look at the Juventus game. He was massive. You can also see that he has HUGE potential by the way he moves with the ball, his technique and whatnot.
What people like you need to realize is that he is still YOUNG and will develop even more. He's not a finished product. Nor is Hazard for instance. Get that.

Has been poor of late because the FSW is bad managing him.
Brazils current number 10, one of the stars of the Olympics and a player who scored 5 goals in the CL group stages is played out of position and either gets benched or hauled off first routinely.

Just going to add my 2 cents. The lad is a sublime talent, his overall game is hugely impressive for someone so young. However he's come to England and it's pretty difficult with the physical nature of the game and trying to adapt to that and a different culture, it's not been helped by him being played out of position and Rafa rarely starting him either.
Put this lad in Spain or Italy and you have a superstar. He may become a superstar in England if given the time and the opportunity.

He's not a winger. The one thing I loved about him before he joined us is that he plays with his head up - when he's on the wing he's always looking down at the ball because it's not his natural position.
He should've been moved to Ramires position because we had so much possession and territory but nothing coming from there. If we carry on as we are we might as well sell him because we're ruining him.

As I said earlier,Benitez is an idiot because he puts the players in a static and predictable position. It was ridiculous how wide Hazard and Oscar played today.Rafa could just play Oscar as AM and make him keep changing positions with Mata like under RDM

You see a lot of people forget that he played nearly every game for Brazil in their Olympic Games run and it is starting to show in his performances. He is a young and exhuberant player who is in need of rest. His start to his Chelsea career was fantastic and we should expect to see a lot more of the same and better next season when he is fully intergrated with life at Chelsea. Soo many moaners expecting him to produce magic in every performance in his first season after such a busy schedule are just spoiled fans who should take this into consideration.

Oscar is best playing closer to goal. He is a no 10, pure and simple, and needs to be played as such. At Inter he played right wing and left wing, and in the hole as an attacking midfielder. I don't know where some members got this idea that he will be best as a natural pivot, or that he will be moved deeper, or is some great pivot player. As an admirer of his football and for the sake of our national team I hope no idiot moves him to the pivot position and completely ruins him (more or less what happened to Anderson, although Oscar is a different, much better player).

He will be much better next season when he gets a chance to rest, he has been playing nonstop because of the Brazilian calender before he went to Chelsea, and all of the summer friendlies, olympic games, and packed fixture schedule at Chelsea (boxing day, CWC, etc.). Once he settles in more with his team mates, and plays in his preferred position, and has security behind him in the midfield he'll improve drastically.
