  1. Why would a product of La Masia who is apparently highly rated want to leave Barca and then likely get farmed out to Strasbourg? Seems really strange from his POV.
  2. Isn’t this kid we’re about to sign from Villa a striker? Why are we then buying another teenaged striker at the exact same time?!
  3. The thing with all of these players you’ve listed is that k don’t see any of them as surefire upgrades on the wingers we already don’t think are quite good enough. I’d rather we give Omari Hutchinson a legit chance to impress on either wing than buy one of these guys.
  4. With this self imposed new wage restriction we’re never going to be able to sign a ready made top class player again. We can still apparently pay really high transfer fees themselves but we won’t pay the massive wages that the top players will demand. So any super high fee we pay will have to be for younger players like Enzo and Caicedo who were on really small wages at their previous clubs and will therefor accept more “modest” (by todays standards) wages like £120-150k per week. Gone are the days where we offer £200-300k per week for any player. Which in the one hand is smart. But on the other hand it really limits us to taking gambles and hoping that the lower tier of player we buy turn into gems.
  5. It’s a crazy amount of money for him but in terms of playing style he would fit them like a glove. So they’ll say it’s worth a big overpay.
  6. A Spanish player who knows Barca wants him and who is happy staying at his current club if he has to doesn’t sound like the kind of guy we’d be able to convince to come here. Think he’d be an interesting signing of it could happen, though. He reminds me a LOT of Jeremy Doku in terms of playing style. Could be an absolute weapon running at defenders and causing havoc.
  7. For the absolute life of me, I cannot make sense of this move for the kid from Villa. It looks exactly like what all the salty opposition fans are moaning about: clubs helping each other out with PSR. Where does this kid even fit in the team?
  8. Things I like most about watching Jonathan David’s footage are his composure in front of goal and the variety in his finishing ability. Doesn’t seem to get rushed and doesn’t panic when an easy chance presents itself. Which so many Chelsea players have done in recent years.
  9. Much as I’d love Fofana to be fit and ready to start from the get-go, I can’t see it. Swap in Tosin for him and I think that is indeed a great looking XI.
  10. After the names we’ve been linked with in recent days for the striker position, Jonathan David gets a big thumbs up for me. Not a “sexy” striker but one who is highly productive, the perfect age, and he’s a decent footballer rather than just a poacher within the box. Could be a shrewd move if the price is reasonable.
  11. What a joke. Feels like we’re setting up for another season where we’re miles off the pace. Buying up MORE teenagers in the attack when we’ve already got so many on the books that most will never see the pitch in a blue shirt.
  12. The briefing from the club that Olise’s transfer is too expensive is hilarious. As if anyone believes that the club who in this calendar year alone has spent £100m on Enzo and £100m on Caicedo plus untold tens of millions on random teenagers can’t now spend £50-60m on a player who they’ve told every reliable reporter is our #1 priority target. A player the club have wanted badly for 2 straight summer windows. We’re about to spend about the same total on 17 year old Estevão. It’s clear that Olise didn’t fancy us. Just like he didn’t last summer. can only hope we don’t go out and spunk huge money on an alternative that’s not very good. I’ve said all along that I wasn’t bothered about Olise. But if we DO still want a winger it has to be someone at his level.
  13. It’s a joke at this point. We’re literally journeying across Europe right now bidding for or inquiring about every clubs teenaged backup striker. I’m honestly speechless. 🤣🤣🤣
  14. If we were supplementing this massive youth movement with established, top class players in the 25-28 range every now and then I’d say “fair play, that’s a smart strategy.” But it seems like what we’re actually doing is targeting only young talents who are perhaps years away from being Chelsea first team quality, if they’re ever ready. I don’t understand how the ownership expects us to get the UCL revenue back flowing every year when we’re going to once again have a squad full of kids over the next few seasons.
  15. This has the potential to be the worst/most underwhelming transfer window we’ve had in recent memory. It is starting to resemble the sort of window a club like Everton or Brentford have.
  16. Fuck off. We’re fucking done out here, man.
  17. Would be really silly of Villa to bid such a large amount and go through the trouble of negotiating with us if they didn’t already have the green light from Maatsen that he’d go there. But it could be possible that Dortmund tells him to wait for them to come up with the money that we’d accept and he ONLY wants to return there.
  18. ‘’Not guaranteed to be Jhon Duran?” Unless it’s Ollie Watkins I’m scared about that statement.
  19. Yeah, I just don’t get us selling him unless we’re desperate for the money. But with Chalobah and others likely going I don’t know if that’s the case. I really like Chilwell but think he should be the prime LB on our books that we should be shopping around simply due to his repeated injury layoffs. Maatsen should be our starter and long term solution at LB and we don’t have to spend a penny. He is nailed on to be the next Guehi type where we watch him doing super well at another PL club and wonder why the hell we sold him.
  20. So which obscure mystery striker will we be linked with today I wonder…
  21. Depends on who we miss out on him to. If he chooses City it’s whatever. That’s the hole we’ve put ourselves in in recent years where we’ve allowed City to surpass us in the eyes of players moving clubs. If he chooses a United team that finished 8th and are a total mess on and off the pitch then even I as someone who isn’t desperate for Olise would be really annoyed.
  22. Wonder if Olise is stalling and waiting for City in particular. City have been super quiet so far so wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just secretly waiting until they see what sort of terms Palace will accept before jumping in late. Don’t think we’d have much chance if they tell him they want him. Thankfully, unlike transfer sagas we’ve been through before for high profile players, I’m not at all invested in the Olise ordeal. If we get him, great. If we don’t I won’t be that bothered so long as we use the money we would’ve used on him on another attacker of a similar quality.
  23. He’s a very nice player who I’m happy to have. He’s just not (yet) a TOP player.
  24. That or playing as a second striker alongside a classic #9. If we had prime Giroud still at the club I think Nico would be brilliant playing with him.
  25. The Guirassy link made perfect sense to me. Cheap release clause, late 20’s so experienced but not “old,” can slot right into the team and allows Nico Jackson to still get plenty of minutes. But if we’re after a young striker then why not go absolutely all out on Alvarez? I’d rather spend £70m on him than £40m on Duran or this kid we’re now linked with.
