  1. Even with Andrey & Ugo going out on loan I feel like 1 more midfielder has to go. And unless Gallagher signs a new contract it has to be him. It would be ridiculous for us to keep him, not play him much, and then see him walk for free in a year.
  2. Ideally I would definitely keep him here but it’s probably much more beneficial for him to be playing week in and week out rather than riding our bench. Perhaps it signals that Gallagher is going to stay after all.
  3. It genuinely is pretty shocking that he’s been without a club for so long. He wasn’t awful in his final season at United. In fact he was actually pretty solid. Just that the few howlers he did have were so bad that they got so much attention. Still a really good shot stopper probably but was poor with the ball at his feet.
  4. Seems like we want to once again go the cheap route with any keeper we target. Just like we’ve done with the Calafiori/Veiga stuff and just like we look to be doing with the striker search. It’s a risky strategy that will either make the club scouts look like fools or geniuses. We basically have to pray that we uncover more Palmer’s & Malo Gusto’s who develop fantastically once they come here for relatively low prices and little fanfare. I’m not going to be one of those Chelsea fans that I see a lot of on Twitter and YT comments (and even on this forum) who are depressed that Arse and United are going for “big names” whilst we go for cheaper, “unknown” players. Mostly because I think 4 of our returning injured players who missed most of last season in Reece, Colwill, Lavia, and Nkunku can develop into superstars for us. Well, Reece already is. I also expect Nico Jackson and Caicedo will take big strides, too. So would I like just 1 big, splashy name to come in this window? Yes. But I will be fine if we don’t.
  5. The reports have been that he’s actively pushing to leave for Saudi. So why not push for him ourselves and see if he’d be interested in staying in the best league? He can always go to Saudi when he’s 35+.
  6. Man, Ederson is RIGHT THERE if we want to try for a truly world class keeper. He may turn us down but why not even try? He knows Maresca from his time there and he is THE keeper in all of world football that plays exactly the way our manager wants. Yes, he’d be super pricey, but then we don’t have to think about the position again for at least 5 years. He’s only 30 which is nothing for a keeper. He wants out, City will sell for the right price, and they’ve already got his replacement ready to go. If we signed him we’d be ready to immediately compete with anyone. It’s like the most obvious transfer ever and we ain’t even considering it.
  7. Kinda concerning that the club have now posted 2 nearly 10 minute training videos these past 2 weeks and KDH hasn’t been spotted in either of them. Haven’t seen any training pics with him either other than one where he was on a Peloton. Ffs, don’t tell me the Chelsea curse has struck again and he’s fucking injured already. But what else could it be? The club would normally want to show off the new players a bunch.
  8. The stats are the stats, but from a pure eye test POV he just seemed like a decent, average keeper. Someone I didn’t close my eyes and cringe every time a ball went into our box like with Kepa or panic every time the ball was passed back to him like with Mendy. He was just kind quietly average to my eyes.
  9. Yeah, I’m not talking about the Lunin stuff, I’m talking about Matt Law’s latest report that we’re looking for someone not to replace Sanchez right away but to back him up and perhaps eventually displace him.
  10. The latest reports on the keeper situation are so fucking stupid. Now we’re going to buy a BACKUP to Sanchez when he himself isn’t even good enough? Rather than just going big on a world class keeper and making Sanches the backup? And I guess Petrovic is just discarded like trash after a decent showing last season. A year after buying him. If the keeper position is viewed as super important to the new manager we should go all out for one that will be between the sticks unquestionably for the foreseeable future. Not this stupid experiment where Sanchez gets to audition for a while and then some new backup we buy replaces him if he sucks. But what happens if this new backup sucks too? Just buy someone we know we won’t ever have to worry about like the dude from Valencia, ffs.
  11. Man, I couldn’t bear seeing my beloved Kante playing in another PL shirt. 😔😔😔 Bring him back to be our Modric/Kroos who plays on rolling contracts until he’s 35/36? 🤔🤔🤔
  12. lol these outlets literally just making shit up out of thin air. He’s not even as good as Gallagher or Carney.
  13. Matt Law says the club still want another striker & RW. Personally, I think both would be overkill unless we sell at least a couple of the current bunch.
  14. Feels weird that all transfer links with us and any senior players have gone totally silent. Is our business done until Maresca takes a look at a few preseason matches, I wonder?
  15. Yeah, as rob says below I’d be all for Alvarez because he’s more than just a finisher/poacher. And as much as people often roll their eyes and downplay the importance, him being PL proven would be a big plus. Even if we were really intent on getting Alvarez behind the scenes, Enzo probably killed any chance of that happening. Imagine the optics and the message it would send to our black players if we signed a dude who may have been on that very bus signing along with Enzo…
  16. In this specific case I’m glad we didn’t do it, though. I think a monster fee + huge wages for Osimhen would be a mistake for us. For me, we need a more complete striker and not a more classic #9. With the financial outlay recently I think another mega-money flop would be hugely damaging and Osimhen definitely had bust potential written all over him. If a prime, world class striker who was also a top all around footballer was available I’d want us to pay whatever it took. A Luis Suarez sort of style for example. Club really do appear to be all in on Nico Jackson being the star man and becoming truly elite whilst developing Guiu at the same time as his backup.
  17. Pre-Clearlake we would 100% have done the obvious deal and signed Osimhen whilst sending Lukaku the other way. Really goes to show how determined these owners are to adhere to this new wage structure when the one striker we’ve been linked to for years, who idolizes our legendary striker, when we badly need a lead #9, and we don’t even make an attempt. They must have gone all out behind the scenes convincing him that he’ll be more of a key player right away for United than he would be at Madrid. But it does feel insane to turn down this particular Real Madrid who have several young Frenchman who he will know well and he would grow with at both club level and national team level there. Like, why tf would you say no to playing with Mbappe, Camavinga, Tcho etc to play for a United team that were dreadful and need basically half a new first XI? United must have offered wages that he and his family couldn’t say no to.
  18. You think it’s frustrating for us, try being a Liverpool or Newcastle fan. I don’t think either of them have signed a single player and their fans are going mad about it. Liverpool fans in particular are livid. I don’t think City or Arse have brought anyone in either, though their fans are of course more calm and understanding since they’re in such a good spot with their squads. At least we’ve signed 4 players that will be big contributors. And just the returning injured players make me excited personally. The only really frustrating thing for me about our club is how we have suddenly decided that we won’t even TRY to target someone from the truly top bracket anymore if there’s a special one available. When just in 2024 alone we were fine spending 100m twice. I can understand them wanting to be more responsible with the spending going forward but I’d love to see us supplement all these younger or cheaper signings with just 1 “money is no object for this one special player” signing.
  19. Yeah, I skimmed over the word teen. My bad. But again, perhaps our club think Anselmino can be our Yoro. You have to admit that the £50-60m United are spending on an 18 year old CB is bonkers, right? I feel much safer spending £15m on Anselmino.
  20. I think this season will 100% be a final audition of sorts for Mudryk and Madueke. If they don’t drastically improve I think they’re gone and the new kids replace them. Sterling will surely go as well if he is subpar again. What halogens if they’re all good this season? Oof. Idk how we accommodate everyone then.
  21. If we would’ve signed yet another 18 year old talent when we’ve already bought about 50 of them over the last couple of years I’d be annoyed. I know Yoro is super highly rated but loads of our fans mad or upset that we didn’t go for him is kinda weird. We can’t sign every wonder kid. We’ve already got about 4-5 in the pipeline like Estevão & Paez who are much more exciting to me than Yoro.
  22. He’s an 18 year old kid who hasn’t kicked a ball in the PL yet and he’s already way better than all of our CB’s… 🙄🙄🙄 Feels like we should maybe wait a couple of months at least to see what he looks like with a massive step up from Lille and Ligue 1 to the biggest club in the toughest league.
  23. Don’t know why any of us would be bothered about Yoro going to United other than the usual annoyance at a potentially good player going to a rival. We’ve got a dozen super young talents like him as it is and the last thing we needed was another one for this upcoming season. From the club’s POV they’ll probably be thinking Anselmino will be every bit as good as Yoro next year for a third the price.
  24. How do you play De Ligt, Yoro, and Lisandro in the same team? Ten Hag doesn’t play with a back 3, does he?
  25. You’d like to think the price we paid wouldn’t come into it but let’s not be naive. If he cost £5m he’d be out the door by the end of this week. Taking a massive loss on a £100m player in the financial position we’re in would be catastrophic.
