The talk now is that Sterling really could go to Arse. We 100% need his wages off the books but It really doesn’t feel right sending him there. Think he genuinely does very well in that team.
-
If Osimhen and Toney are off the table then DO NOT panic and sign anyone else! We should have more than enough firepower between Palmer, Jackson, Nkunku, Neto, and Felix to get us to January where we can survey the striker market again. Maybe by then someone unexpected will emerge that isn’t available now.
-
I’m pissing myself laughing at this Deivid Washington deal. Everyone on Twitter that’s not a Chelsea fan crying about it 🤣🤣🤣 tbf, it is crazy that it’s allowed…
-
If Sterling goes today along with Lukaku already being gone I would’ve just offered to match his exact current Napoli wage. If he said no to that then fuck it, let him go to Saudi. But to still be proposing a loan move at this stage when he has said no all summer is stupid. Toney I couldn’t care less about. I was indifferent on him in particular but would’ve been happy that we signed a striker.
-
Holy shit. Not only have we waited until the final hours to secure a striker and missed out on both of the main targets, but they’ve gone to the SAME FUCKING CLUB! Unreal. So we get nothing.
-
The club will surely be doing their due diligence I hope. He seemed to clash with Ten Hag really early on so maybe they’ll be thinking it’s just something really personal between them and it won’t be an issue here? 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
-
Yep. It’s puzzling for sure. I’ve seen conflicting reports that his wages are even more insane than Sterling’s. So unless he’s halving his current wages this just seems even dumber. Say what you want about Sterling when he’s on the pitch but he seems like a good professional. Sancho on the other hand has been a bit of a cancer at United.
-
I think Sterling would do very, very well under Arteta at Arse. I don’t think he’d be any better at United than he was for us which was bang average. United’s attacking play and style I just don’t think will suit him as well. So hopefully if he goes tomorrow it’s to United. If he goes to Arse and looks like his City self again we’d never hear the end of it.
-
I guess? What else could explain it? We’re absolutely loaded in that area of the pitch and will be even more so a year from now. If we indeed push for the deal tomorrow the club must think that a change of scenery back to London will unlock his top form again and we’d have an £80m+ caliber player on our hands for cheap.
-
The Sancho thing just feels strange from every side if it happens. Strange from our POV because we don’t need him at all. Strange from the United side because if he does rediscover his best form they’ve just handed him to us for what I assume is a massively discounted price. Also strange if we sell Sterling to Arse and United don’t get anything out of this deal at all other than getting his wages off the books I guess.
-
If we get Osimhen and Sancho and the Colwil + Fofana partnership don’t improve steadily as the season progresses we’re going to be the most lopsided team ever assembled. We may score 5-6 goals per game and concede just about that many ourselves, ffs. Better pray that Lavia makes a big difference when he’s back and that we hold the ball as well as we did second half against Wolves.
-
I genuinely think the club hierarchy feel REALLY good about Fofana & Colwill as a pairing and are banking hard on them developing together over the course of the season. So I’d be stunned if they were thinking about adding another starting caliber CB tomorrow. I bet Trev will end up staying and be reintegrated.
-
Not watching but following along on Twitter. wtf is going on? Even if this was our B team it still has light years more talent than fucking Servette and should be comfortably pissing this tie…
-
What’s his wage currently at Napoli? It’s well under £300k, right? So if Lukaku and hopefully Sterling are both off our books, why could we not just offer to exactly match his current wage and we still come out of this window with a massively reduced wage bill?
-
Ben Jacobs now saying it’s not €30m per season from Saudi but €40m! There’s just no chance anyone can compete with that. This is over.
-
Well yeah, that goes without question. It’s a stupid signing.
-
How does Sancho coming to us make any sense whatsoever if Sterling isn’t going the other way? Why would United do it?
-
We still aren’t even offering a full on permanent buy for this summer? A loan? The reporting just yesterday is that we moved past that, ffs. He and his agent have apparently been adamant for weeks that a loan was disrespectful and not even being considered.
-
The Sterling/Sancho thing has gone awfully quiet. As has all talk about realistic moves for Broja or Chilly. The idea that such “big” players will just rot in the reserves until January sounds utterly disastrous to me. If other clubs aren’t moving for them now when we’re desperate to get rid of them who is going to want them a few months from now when they’ve been sitting around not playing any football?
-
Romeo retweeted 2 complete rando’s yesterday saying his injury isn’t serious and that he’ll be back very, very soon. Probably first game back from the international break. So I guess he’s trying to calm everyone freaking out about him down.
-
I wouldn’t be shocked at all if our “Hollywood” ownership intentionally saved something for the final day to make a splash whilst most other big clubs are quiet. But leaving maybe the final piece to our team (a top class #9) until the last minute seems so unnecessarily dumb.
-
Really hope we settle things one way or another TODAY and aren’t forced to scramble on the final day.
-
Soon as the report came out that Saudi were offering him 30m per year it was most likely over. No club in Europe can come remotely close to that. Even if we were offering £250k per week which is far above any of our recent signings, once he heard €30m per year that will seem like peanuts. Whatever. If we don’t sign him at least no other PL club is getting him. We’ll probably never see or hear from him again after this window when he’s playing in obscurity in the Saudi league. Out of sight, out of mind.
-
At least there’s only 2 more days in the window so we don’t have to watch these boring, dragged out sagas for much longer.
-
Just got through watching some footage myself and see he plays on the right side. Even if we sold Trev AND Disasi I don’t see a place for him when we’ve got Fofana and Tosin. And with Colwill, Badiashile, and Veiga who can fill in on the left what would be the point in another CB this window?
