Not sure if anyone has considered or mentioned this, but if he's sacked there has to be a worry about the new manager doing an AVB and trying to radically change things too quickly and angering players in the process. There's a chance a new manager turns things around but also a risk of making things even worse.
-
Wow, it hasn't happened yet. If he isn't sacked after that then he won't be unless players start publicly speaking out against him.
-
It is written in the stars. Have bad PL season, proceed to win CL.We'll bring Frank back in January and our new manager Brentan Rodgers will lead us to glory.
-
On the bright side, I suppose, is that we're winning the Champions League this season lads!
-
I will say, one thing he said there must be true. That last season these same players must have just played out of their minds and WAY beyond their actual level. That's the only explanation to this season. Same players, same manager, same formation, same tactics that breezed the league. That can't be down to the manager alone. The majority of the blame is still on the players in my eyes but José has done his damnedest to fuel the flames and cause unneeded friction. When it's clearly not working he just hasn't done anything about it. Think the players are demonstrating on the pitch that they're tried of his abrasive personality and rudimentary tactics.
-
Expecting the infamous "We regretfully..." tweet when I wake up tomorrow morning. He has lost the team. Or at least he's lost every player that is important to winning matches.
-
He has for sure fallen out with Hazard. Or rather, Hazard is sick of the tactics and public derision and no longer wants to try his hardest for Mouinrho. Hard to see him staying...
-
Bring in Ancelotti QUICKLY before United or City get him! Need someone with positive philosophy that can instill confidence in our players again. A manager who actually coaches attacking football. No young, up-and-comers or giving someone their "big break." Get the best available manager who knows the club and knows the league. Fucking get Carlo and let him settle in and get us on the right track going into next season.
-
Won't be. If we had lost to Porto, maybe. No chance now.
-
Fucking nightmare. It just doesn't end. We are an embarrassment of a side. From champions to THIS!
-
Its terrible, mate. No one can hold the ball up and we have only two players in our entire side that are great with the ball in tight spaces (Hazard & Willian).Without an in-form Cesc our midfield is invisible. We really are shit.
-
All these small teams are better with the ball than us. How embarrassing is that? We can't pass the ball to save our lives.
-
"Ruben won't just be getting a minute here and there this season, but rather he'll be a true member of the squad and will play." I haven't been one who's called for him to play like some here, but if Cesc isn't going to why not just throw him into the fire and give him a run? We ain't making top 4 and aren't getting relegated. Nothing to lose, really.
-
As long as we don't concede early or first... If we do we'd probably crumble and wilt like we always have this season when facing adversity.
-
True, unfortunately.
-
Can we see RLC today, please? I'd love to see us sacrifice an attacking mid (Oscar) and play with 3 in the middle in order to dominate the middle of the pitch. My team would be: -----------------------Costa---------------------- Hazard-----------------------------------Willian -------RLC-------Matic--------Ramires------- Baba----------Terry------Cahill-----------Azpi ---------------------Courtois----------------------- If both Ivanovic and Fabregas start we risk getting ripped apart. It's literally INSANE that after last season a massive club like Chelsea is so worried about and desperate for a win against a minnow like Leicester. But the club is plunged straight back into crisis once more if we lose this.
-
Absolutely spot on and much of what I was coming here to post. This is a terrible matchup for us as PSG is strong in all areas we're weak in. I'm especially worried about our midfield being embarrassed. We'll get killed if Fabregas plays. Hopefully by the time the first leg comes around we'll be playing well and Matic is in top form. Would be even better if RLC is given a long run out. We could use a big, athletic body against PSG.
-
I don't even care if we buy cup tied players. I just want top players brought in so I have something to actually look forward to.
-
Can we swap Oscar for Brahimi after the match?
-
So fucking stupid from Diego. Why do that!?
-
Would've had Pedro in place of Oscar. Otherwise good. Normally when Ivanovic absolutely needs a good performance he delivers so I don't mind him starting. Baba would've been shitting himself in such a nervy game.
-
Please, no. Would be a significant downgrade from José. As bad as it is now I'd rather just keep him than appoint Conte. It's either Ancelotti or stick with Mourinho for me.
-
We'll know one way or the other within days. If we go out of the CL and he still isn't sacked then I think he'll go on to honor his whole contract. That'll finally demonstrate that Roman has complete and unwavering support for José.
-
Going to be even more depressing at season's end when City win the title yet again and then appoint Guardiola. All of these journalists and outlets now reporting that Man United are briefing that Pep is basically a lock for City. They've really made us look like mugs when you think about it. They've done all the things we should've done; The fake sponsorships that have been deemed legal, the stadium expansion, the total disregard for FFP with no consequences. We adhered to the imaginary rules and suffer for it whilst they spend literally whatever they choose and will benefit from them. We'll be basically back to square one fighting to get back into the CL while they'll have Pep and unlimited funds. It now looks like City who needs just a piece or two to reach the Bayern/Barca level and we need to replace nearly half of our XI just to get back to the level we were at.
-
Just so unbelievably depressing thinking back on last season. It's incomprehensible how our entire team has gone to absolute shit so quickly. All that talk of building upon a team that could dominate for years and the euphoria of winning the title. Thinking about the possibility of having a superb spine that can grow together and compete for everything. - COSTA was a revelation and we all thought that if he could stay fit he'd be even better this season. He has been terrible. - FABREGAS led the league in assists and we all figured he'd change how we played going forward and be the perfect fit next to Matic. After his traditional second half slump I just thought "hey, after a nice holiday in the summer he'll return to his best." Nope, he looks like a 60 year old man out there now. Just embarrassingly bad. The most shocking of all our players this season. - OSCAR was average last season and after José saying he expected Oscar to have a Hazard-esque evolution this season I was ready to see him explode. He looks like he's regressed considerably instead. He goes hiding almost every match. A #10 who isn't creative and who doesn't score either these days. - MATIC was the best DM in England from the time he rejoined until about midsession last year. He still has a beast of a performance here and there now but he doesn't look like himself any more. Can't be too hard on him because he's left doing so much work and picking up so much slack for the terrible Fabregas. - IVANOVIC, though divisive here last season was still the league's best RB. Over night he has aged 5 years and is terrible. Inexplicable. - CAHILL & ZOUMA for me are both complimentary CB's who require a top class partner to help them. They're a mistake waiting to happen at all times. Cahill in particular is shocking in most things other than "hero defending" in desperate situations. When he has someone running at him he's useless. Zouma can't play the ball to save his life and just hoofs it out of play at any sign of a player coming near him. - HAZARD & WILLIAN are the only two players I can praise this season. No, Hazard isn't playing at nearly the level he was last season but he's dangerous as hell most of the time. It often looks like he's a level or three above his teammates and you can tell it hurts him when they aren't playing at his level. Willian has finally become more dangerous and influential in the final third which we've all wanted for years and it comes when the rest of the team is shit. Other than poor management and tactics how can all of this have happen virtually overnight? All of the same players who just dominated the PL are now near the relegation zone. It just makes no fucking sense. HOW!? The club needs something to reinvigorate it and make the players feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel.
