I have the feeling he'll go out on loan and we'll never hear from him again until he's sold to a random German or Spanish side in a couple of years. We were never going to be rid of Ivanovic this season. The best we can hope for is that he's benched for the majority of the time. The board and Roman love him and were never going to sell him after extending his contract. There's still time to sign who we need but I'm running out of faith we will.

I'm a tad more relaxed about bringing in a fullback compared to how I'm nervous as hell about a CB. There's just no way we can go a whole season with only Azpi, Aina, and Ivanovic the makeshift RB. Someone is coming in for sure.

Yeah, he's definitely not a DM. He's basically a more athletic Lampard. A dynamic #8. He's got great energy and stamina like Ramires and Kante but also has a great eye for a pass and can score goals from midfield. He'd be a clear upgrade over Matic. He'd also allow us to actually use Fabregas in the first XI since he's great at pressing and can win the ball back. A midfield 3 of Matuidi, Kante, Cesc looks awesome, in fact. The biggest downside would be that his game is completely reliant on his physical tools and at 29, how much longer will he be able to play like he is now? I'd certainly take a punt on him for 2-3 years.

Would be a great short term signing and I think Conte would love him. Have to say I'd prefer someone younger, but he'd be a very good player that would help us reach the top 4.

Remember he suffered that terrible knee injury just before the Euro's? City were after him but then the injury happened so they moved on.

He's the very definition of an average player. Not even better than Remy. We'd be absolute idiots to do this deal.

Forget doubled, he's not even worth half that! He's the type of player that a few years ago you'd have seen moving to Southampton or Stoke or one of those other perennial midtable clubs for about £10m. This TV money is absolutely bananas. One of our best players. As in he's one of our 3-4 best. As for their national team, not that their best team is any good now, but that Olympic side is basically their youth team + Neymar. Can hardly judge them.

Why do so many Chelsea fans (on here and especially on Twitter) lump Willian in with "flops?" So unappreciative. He's one of our best players, ffs. Anyways, if this kid being thought of as an immediate first team player or is he "one for the future" who will be loaned out never to be heard from again? Even if he's a replacement if for Matic if he's sold, what would signing this kid mean for Chalobah and RLC? Just seems kinda weird that if we're after another midfield target it wouldn't be a significant upgrade. This seems like huge gamble rather than just going and signing more of a sure thing.
