Even if City eclipse our PL title count and have been more successful in recent years they’re still nowhere near as “big” as Chelsea. They don’t have that huge global fan base and nobody cares much about them outside of Manchester.
-
West Brom are embarrassing. Spuds look like they could score every time they attack. They’re totally wide open and basically inviting them through their defense.
-
I mean, Southampton are a small club. But yeah, no chance he jumps ship midseason. Though if we were to sack Frank, offer him the job, and he declines he may not get another chance at a truly massive club again any time soon. As well as Southampton are doing the chance to manage Chelsea with the crazy talent we have to work with has to be tempting. He would probably turn into a villain instantly if he left now.
-
No more sentimental appointments, please. Highly competent, highly experienced, respects coach only.
-
Think Brendan Rodgers would be a shrewd appointment but I also can't see him jumping ship midseason.
-
I actually wouldn't put it past our board to actually consider Rafa Benitez again. Almost the same situation as last time and it would be beneficial to both sides. Chelsea gets a "safe," boring, experienced and pragmatic manager to steady the ship. Maybe luck out and go on a run in Europe like last time. Benitez gets to put himself in the shop window again and gets himself another PL gig. And with no fans in the Bridge there won't be huge backlash this time. Of course that's not what I want by any means but I wonder if they're considering it...

Unless Tuchel has already been told to prepare, it may just be a matter of timing. Sack him now and the replacement may not be ready. With the FA Cup match in between the club have a bit of time to sort things out.
-
The only reason I can see Frank surviving a bit longer now is Roman/the board will be looking at what has happened with Arteta and Olé. Both were seemingly on the brink and looking like dead men walking. Now both are flying just weeks later. We were the ones flying when they were both struggling and now it's reversed. They'll probably be telling themselves that things can change quickly and that maybe they can wait it out. I think he's got 1 more PL match. Lose against Fulham and he's done.

One little thing Frank mentioned in his post match interview is something that's 100% true and nobody is really mentioning it in the media. He quickly explained how comfortable all of City's players are at recieveing the ball in tight areas and dealing with the press. It's something you really notice immedietly when watching the likes of City and Liverpool compared to us. It even really stood out in both legs against Sevilla this year. Just about every player on those sides are excellent technically and have great first touch. There's a smooth, crisp look to their passing. Meanwhile, we have FAR too many players in our team who are just poor technically. Kante, Zouma, Tammy, Werner, Azpi. And then we have others who do have qualities technically but have next to ZERO offensive output like Kova, Jorginho, Mount. All of these problems are made worse when we have a novice manager who is clearly not able to fix these issues in training. We need a manager who is maniacal at working on intricate technical training. You can tell the likes of Pep and Klopp have worked endlessly with their players to get them so calm and smooth in their play.

Other than Tuchel, who is even possible? I don't think Allegri is a good choice at all for us. Away from the game for too long now and the combination of new league, language barrier, and us being in crisis is too much. Plus, he's not the manager to bring in for exciting, free flowing football. Its either Tuchel or experienced interim until we can get our top choice in the summer. No highly rated manager is going to abandon their current club midseason.
-
Game over already in the first 15 minutes. Ripped to shreds repeatedly by City's B team. Why bother watching us the rest of the season? Just why? Fuck this.
-
The thought of Sterling sprinting at Azpi and De Bruyne playing easy diagonals between Zouma and Azpi is comforting before bed tonight. 😬😬😬 Really, the only positives I can think of are that City have been super inconsistent this season as well. And they may be missing some key players due to COVID. But who am I kidding, whenever opponents are missing key players they've still battered us in recent weeks.
-
The worst Arse side in living memory are within spitting distance of us now. 😑 Feels like just yesterday that we were flying high and dreaming about a genuine title challenge and deep CL run. Now if things continue as they have been we could conceivably finish midtable despite having arguably the best squad in the league. What a shit season.
-
Embarrassing and unacceptable that with the money we spent in the summer and the talent we have to be so far behind this Man United team. A side who really did nothing in the summer but buy a couple of squad players and a striker in his twighlight. We've brought in a staggering amount of top talent and have totally failed to get the best out of any of them yet bar Chilwell who was the safest bet. United aren't even anything special, either. Just one ridiculously influential player in Bruno and some ultra-dodgy VAR/penalty luck. From their manager having his head called for to top of the league. With a few top players but mostly just slightly above average players. 🙄 If results continue to go against us in the next couple of matches we need a change. Sadly, the safest bet is now about to be PSG manager. I don't know where on earth we'd go since the very best candidates are busy doing well at their current clubs (Hessenhutl, Naglesman, etc). We may be forced to stick with a 'in over his head' manager for the rest of the season.
-
I'm done watching this team until something changes. Later.
-
Same pattern every time. HOW does it happen over and over again? Come up against an objectively SHIT opponent who are decimated by injury and in relegation form, yet we come into each of these games with zero intensity or energy. For it to happen once is almost excusable. But it happen EVERY time! Something big needs to change.
-
This is 10x more embarrassing and humiliating than Wolves or Everton. They cheated for the penalty but even aside from that we're letting a bunch of teenagers and bums totally destroy us. Unreal. Just fuck off. I'm done.
-
NBC have fucked up their coverage and aren't showing the game here in America. Fuck me.
-
That Arse XI is fucking shocking. Like, 2-3 players apart that's a horrendous team. You know what that means...
-
Villa are absolutely battering Palace playing with 10 men. Like seriously destroying them. Terrible team to have to play with just 2 days between the Arse match. They are great in the counter and love to run.
-
Holy shit, both fullbacks are fit. Now there's a very pleasant surprise. And no Willian or Luiz to score against us is nice. For the love of god can I have a nice birthday gift today with a win against a side I despise. And for Werner to score and break his drought.
-
Two really idiotic yellows as well. Should make our already dangerous setpieces and corners even more so in a couple of days. Now all we need is for Grealish to pick up a small knock here and miss our match as well. 😆
-
Haaland has Manchester bidding war written all over him for me. Both will be extremely desperate for a talismanic #9 and both will be willing to offer astronomical wages that I doubt we would touch like £350-400k a week. City need a long term Aguero replacement and United have only 34 year old Cavani who they won't want to depend on as their main man for next year. After last summer I think our next 2-3 transfer windows will be extremely subdued. Only making moderately priced buys to replenish our squad depth once the likes of Alonso etc are sold. Definitely don't expect any incomings next month. Can see this being a Liverpool sort of situation where after they splashed out on mega expensive players they then went to smaller teams and bought young players with lots of promise for much cheaper and started developing them. Or we'll just promote our own youngsters instead.
-
I kinda like the idea of starting our fastest possible attack with Timo up top flanked by CHO and CP but I doubt Frank will suddenly change the system so drastically all of a sudden sadly. Arse's CB's are calamitous so Werner playing through the middle could do some real damage. Plus, with the likes of Luiz and Mustafi or whoever they play Werner's pace could also draw a penalty. But I think Frank loves the idea of a traditional #9 too much to do it. I would definitely have thought Giroud would start this since he'll be really up for it against Arse but then Tammy went and scored a couple so likely won't be dropped.
-
As horrendous as Arse have been this will be an absolute slog just like much of the WH game was on Monday with all these key injuries. That's 3 of our most dangerous players out again with their replacements several levels worse than them. This feels like it'll be one of those games where it's dreadfully poor for 85 minutes and 1 goal will win it. If ever there was a time for Werner and Havertz to come out of their shells it's during the next week or two.
