  1. If we had been hearing rumblings for weeks that we were in contact via back channels or something I’d still think there is a chance for Haaland. Like with Havertz last summer we heard simmering for weeks and weeks. Haaland has said himself that he hadn’t even been in contact much with his agent. That combined with multiple people like Romano and Fjortoft saying there’s been zero contact between us and BVB makes me think this is just a no-go. Too late in the window and surely too big of a transaction to just rush through. If we had attacked the situation shortly after the window opened and given BVB the entire summer to identify and sign replacements we perhaps could’ve done a deal. Doesn’t seem realistic to complete a 150m+ deal in a couple of days.
  2. We might have the worst new kit in the league this season. Christ, that’s awful. 🤢🤢🤢
  3. It really is abysmal. Hate it. The yellow along the sides kills it completely.
  4. Obviously most people would prefer a monstrous Koulibaly or VVD sized monster at the back but I don’t think it’ll be a huge issue. In fact, I’d miss Zouma’s height more in attack than in defense if we sell him.
  5. You know a player is highly rated when rival fans of ours are saying “that’s a great signing, tbf.” 😂 Usually everyone calls a rival signing shit no matter who they are.
  6. As I said a little while ago, being great in the air isn’t all about height. Thiago Silva is on the short side for a CB and he has been fantastic in the air his whole career due to his superb positioning, his athleticism, and his great vertical leap. Koundé is shorter than Silva but he’s got all the other tools to overcome that.
  7. Koundé + a midfielder sounds realistic if this rumor from Romano is accurate. Then address the striker issue either in Jan or a year from now. Risky as hell but that seems the most likely outcome now.
  8. Short for a CB for sure, but as mentioned a week or two ago he’s built like a tank and is excellent on the ball. If we do buy him I’m not really sure where he plays this coming season, though. Unless Silva’s game time is much more limited to keep him fresh.
  9. True, but it’s not like Zouma is some small time player. He’s a full fledged France international who has played well in some big games for us. And he’s still relatively young as well. The club really shouldn’t be thinking of selling him for less than like £35m. Some midtable PL club would probably pay that.
  10. I know Ben White is 3 years younger, but if he’s worth £50m how is the price being thrown around for Zouma only €25m? Unless we’re just desperate to get rid of him which I doubt.
  11. Why would a keeper that’s only 29 agree to join us and basically never see the pitch? Strange. Anyways, will be straight up trolling at this point if after a total lack of transfer movement the club announce a 3rd keeper as our first (and possibly only) signing. If I were them I’d wait to announce that one until later 😂
  12. Yeah, lots of people on Twitter are acting as though Varane is VVD or prime John Terry which he isn’t close to.
  13. Don’t think anyone’s worried about Varane on his own. People just wonder why United, who already finished above us somewhat comfortably, are plugging the few holes they had in their team whilst we haven’t yet. Is Varane as amazing as lots of people are hyping up? No. But he’s way better than Lindelof.
  14. We’ll probably sign Danny Ings, Josh King, or Jermaine Defoe minutes before the deadline at this rate. 😄
  15. Or the CL victory has genuinely convinced Roman and the transfer chiefs that Tuchel is a miracle worker and can challenge for the title without a single signing. The fact that there’s been ZERO advanced negotiation or news of bids for anyone with only 17 days until the start of the season kind of tells me this is what’s happening.
  16. Yes. Something has to happen soon…….right?
  17. Feeling good about this coming week. 🙃
  18. What I’m saying is that Lewandowski almost strictly does his damage within the box. He’s not going to really trouble opposing teams anywhere else. Haaland on the other hand has those signature moves where he gets the ball near the halfway line and rampages forward like a train. His pace and power in the transition game is a huge weapon. You have to always account for him on the pitch. Not sure the same can be said about Lewandowski.
  19. If Haaland isn’t world class idk who is. Lewandowski is often considered the best #9 in the world currently and he rarely “creates something out of nothing.” Almost 100% of his 40 goals this past season were inside the box and many of them were poaching on the end of a teammates good play. Haaland is much more dangerous outside of the box than Lewa is. He’s not yet Harry Kane’s level when it comes to creating for others but he’s not just a traditional target man. He’s certainly world class, though.
  20. What’s probably working against us more so than the price or payment package we can offer is time at this point. We can offer them as much as we’d like but if it’s too late in the window for them to replace him they’ll just tell us to fuck off. And Dortmund seem like the kind of club who like to get a replacement lined up and negotiated before they sell a player. Something we’ve heard nothing about. The entirety of Europe will see them with a huge pile of money and crank the price up massively on any target they go after. Being unable to get rid of all these bums in our squad could cost us dearly because evidently we have to sell in order to buy.
  21. Posting random fan page nonsense now? 😑
  22. I just ask myself, would I rather have Tammy up top or Griezmann? That’s easy. Would I rather have faith that Werner will rediscover his Leipzig form as a lone striker or have Griezmann? Also pretty easy answer. But from what everyone is saying his wages are so obscenely high it’s likely not possible anyways. Lewandowski seems as impossible as Kane. I literally don’t even know who their backup striker is and as we well know they can’t exactly dip into the market and find an adequate replacement.
  23. Griezmann is several years younger than Lewa. Old… 😂 he’s only just turned 30!
  24. Griezmann would be an amazing fallback option if Haaland is impossible. Really hope there’s some truth to those rumors. I believe he’d mesh extremely well with our playing style and personnel. Can link midfield and attack by dropping deeper to receive the ball, can score worldies from outside the box or be a poacher within it, can score direct from free kicks, and can also dribble past defenders. He’s also unpredictable in his positioning to keep opposing teams on their toes. A Kovacic style loan with buy option would be perfect. He kills it here and we keep him, he doesn’t and we do what we did with Higuain and send him in his way with little fuss.
  25. Great news, indeed. As long as Olé is there they’ll continue to be a “close but no cigar” sort of team. Good enough to beat anyone if they’re in top form but shit to watch much of the time and won’t win the biggest trophies against top managers who play better football.
