  1. Unfortunately, the timing of the Colwill injury is just as bad as the injury itself. This late in the window I don’t know who we can go and get that’s top class. What club is going to sell a cornerstone of their team just as their season is starting? We would probably have to pay Wes Fofana money again to get someone good enough that we wouldn’t miss Levi.
  2. I think it’s pretty clear that while Liverpool are obviously amazing in attack, they’re vulnerable in defense. I don’t think they’re going to run away with the league and finish miles ahead of the rest like last season. They get 1 or 2 key longer term injuries to VVD or Gravenberch and they’re suddenly really beatable by the other top teams. I can already foresee lots of matches like that one we just watched with them this season where they look subpar by their standards, they concede a couple, but then they have so many monsters up front that they’ll grind out wins.
  3. Absolutely shocking defending there. How in the hell did the CB allow Salah to get that ball? He slowed down and just let him have it ffs!
  4. Ekitike looks really dangerous. Gonna be weird if he starts super well and then Isak comes in. I don’t see how you play those two together. Ekitike would be wasted out on the left.
  5. Don’t know if it’s even worth bothering to watch this match. Premier League gave Liverpool a free cupcake of an opening fixture to slaughter. Probably be long over by half time.
  6. I get the club trying to hold out and get as much money as they can as any business would. But the\is late in the window there’s a real danger of being too stubborn/unrealistic and having the interested clubs turn elsewhere. Then we’re winter stuck with unwanted players or forced to panic deal right at the deadline for much worse terms than we could’ve received earlier.
  7. I’m going to assume that there IS a scouting team pouring over the data for CB’s in case there’s a “market opportunity” late in the window. But if it happens my bet is that it’s an inexpensive older player who’s more of a 1 season stop gap. If Xavi and Garnacho come in surely we won’t have the ability to then go out and spend 60m+ on a top CB.
  8. Both Carney and Nkunku are very injury prone. So again, we should not be agreeing to loans with options for these guys. They get injured as usual while on loan and miss large parts of the season and the clubs won’t activate the buy clauses. Then we have more players next summer who are a massive pain in the ass to move on once again. Any loan we do MUST have mandatory buy obligations.
  9. Do not agree loans for players on big wages, please. We’ve seen with Sterling and Chilly how hard they then become to shift if the clubs loaning them decide to not take up the option to buy. Shift Nkunku permanently even if we have to accept a cut price fee in the 30’s.
  10. Has it been made clear whether Nkunku needs to go in order to get Xavi due to the squad being too full or strictly because we need the money? Because if it’s just about making room then I guess a loan with buy obligation wouldn’t be the end of the world. As long as the buy clause is ironclad.
  11. That’s what I mean. Use the £35-40m we’ll be spunking on Garnacho to put towards a CB instead.
  12. A sane recruitment team would immediately drop the Garnacho pursuit and go for a quality CB as quickly as possible.
  13. Forest going crazy in the window again just like last summer. Feels like I’ve seen them bid for about 6 players this week. I’m curious how they’re able to stay PSR compliant unlike so many other “smaller” clubs. How are they able to sign seemingly dozens of players like this?
  14. The link is bullshit but even if it wasn’t, Konate isn’t a left footed, left sided CB anyways. He’s another who plays on the right where we’re stacked. And Liverpool wouldn’t sell to us anyways even with a year left on his contract.
  15. We’ve heard similar for weeks. The player side has never been an issue. The issue is we have been talking to Leipzig for weeks and not put a bid in.
  16. Nkunku is probably on big wages but I don’t think Nico is, right? He’s surely on 100k or less.
  17. How about they get busy ASAP and push these deals through with their fresh new contracts. Did extremely well in moving out some but shit has hit stalled completely for weeks now. I would’ve thought the like of Nkunku and Jackson would be much easier to sell than KDH, Madueke, etc. and yet they’re proving the trickiest.
  18. We’ve heard the Nkunku to Bayern story several times before with nothing materializing. Let’s hope this time it’s finally real.
  19. Gotta be something in the water in North London. Both clubs simply have bottling engrained hard in their DNA.
  20. Can already see that Spuds are going to be a team that gets dominated possession and run of play wise by all the other big PL sides but are setup well enough by Thomas Frank that if you don’t kill them off they’ll always pose a threat on set pieces and counter attacks. Basically, they’ll be a mirror of his Brentford side but with much better players. If they succeed in signing Eze & Savinho they’ll be deadly on the break.
  21. PSG well and truly look like they were just on the beach a few days ago which they were. Incredibly off the pace and making this bang average Spuds team look good. Getting killed on every set piece and extremely sloppy with the ball.
  22. I really expected a big flurry of activity, particularly outgoings, this week as soon as the Milan match was over starting Monday. But it’s the opposite. Things have slowed to glacial speed.
  23. Zero movement or reporting about Jackson at all. Nothing substantive with Nkunku either. Which in turn means more and more time goes by with our incoming business stuck in limbo.
  24. Same. Plus, watching Donnarumma try to play at the edge of his box pinging balls around like Ederson could be pretty comical. Don’t think he’s a guaranteed success at City. Could see Pep getting annoyed if his distribution isn’t sharp enough.
  25. Our big problem with Nkunku & Jackson and why the Xavi deal is dragging on and on is that neither of them are the first choices of any of these clubs who are interested. Which kind of fucks us over and means that we may not be able to sign Xavi until deadline day well after the season starts. Yes, the likes of Newcastle, Bayern, etc may fancy Nkunku or Jackson but only if they can’t land other players. These are fallback options. The confusing part is that we’re apparently pushing through and advancing on Garnacho despite Jackson & Nkunku still being here but can’t finalize Xavi until they’re gone?
