That’s what I’m thinking. It’s why I want Arse to hurry up and sign Noni. If they want Noni & Eze surely they can’t then afford Rodrygo too.
-
I like that things are starting to move now with outgoings. Needs to start getting that money flowing in. Hoping that’s there’s still 1 more statement signing to come, though. Whether that’s another LW, a CB, or a keeper. The latter two I think are highly unlikely. I saw CFCPys tweet last night that we should go all in trying to get Rodrygo and I think I agree. Can jump from Real Madrid’s bench to being a star here and playing every match. I think signing him would elevate us to genuine PL contenders and a UCL dark horse.

If we manage to get them to pay a guaranteed £50m for Madueke that is FANTASTIC business. We’ve seen during this CWC that he’s already been tossed out to the left wing where he’s even worse than he is in natural RW position and that’s before Estevão even arrives. That tells you all you need to know about Maresca’s thinking. Even Nkunku is ahead of him currently. He’ll be a good squad option for Arse just as he would be here if he stays. But for £50m it’s too good to pass up.

Have to agree with everyone else. As insane as it is to utter this sentence, I’d much rather play Madrid in the final. If Caicedo is good to go I think we have the advantage in midfield and as dangerous as their attacking players are we can get at their defense. PSG I can’t see us beating in the form they’re in.
-
Was expecting a much tougher match than that tbh. Especially with the weather. Thought Fluminense would be the toughest of the 3 Brazilian sides we’ve played but both Flamengo and Palmeiras were considerably more dangerous in the midfield and attacking areas.
-
That’s probably no Caicedo for the final then. Fuck…
-
Enzo is dead on his feet out there. How about a sub for Andrey Santos, Maresca!?
-
Nkunku with multiple chances to kill the game dead but was so bloody hesitant.
-
HOLY FUCK
-
We’re definitely a little vulnerable to a quick change of possession which is the worry. And I still don’t like how uninvolved Palmer is sometimes. Feels like we should be spamming the ball to him as much as possible like a lot of top teams do with their star player. But overall we completely controlled that first half. Bossed it, really.
-
Pedro Neto with full confidence like this is an incredible player.
-
Another absurd penalty awarded. Arm completely to his side, ffs.
-
Lovely, we get to watch Nkunku slowly jog about unbothered and offering fuck all in the final third once again despite him clearly being up for sale. Elsewhere, it’s 100% clear now already that João Pedro is instantly ahead of Jackson in Maresca’s mind as our striker. Think he’s absolutely sending Nico a message. Shape up or you’re buried.
-
I think his injury issues started before he even arrived, didn’t they? Anyway, regarding this match I don’t like what I’m hearing when it comes to the weather conditions. Extremely hot and extremely humid. Against a really old opponent who will be happy to sit deep and close shop to conserve their energy and who are used to the heat being a South American side.
-
I don’t see any club coming in for Noni at £50m+. Nobody other than a PL team has that sort of money to spend on him and I highly doubt Noni would agree to go to a club that’s a big step down in terms of profile like a Forest or Villa. So it feels like either he goes to Arse or stays. And I’d personally rather get a slightly compromised price and replace him with an upgrade than risk Arse walking away.
-
Lot of people seem to think Fofana is going to become a top player in the future. So imagine if we instead go ad sign Garnacho 🤢🤢🤢 Which in addition to him not being good enough for us, would have the knock on effect of handing United a bunch of money to upgrade their squad.
-
If we manage to sell Madueke and Nkunku I’d be fine keeping Jackson and giving him one more season to prove himself.
-
Yeah, it’s a massive loss for sure but I figured we’d basically have to give him away for next to nothing or he’d be repeatedly loaned out for years. Getting £25m for him is beyond my wildest expectations. If you would’ve told me 24 hours ago that some team offered us £15m for him I’d have said “eh, that’s not bad.” lol
-
Getting £25m for Disasi would be award worthy.
-
That Elanga price is crazy but I think Newcastle were starting to get a bit desperate after repeatedly missing out on other targets. I think he’s a pace merchant who had one breakout season excelling in a counter attacking style. I don’t really see any special attributes with him at all. As for Noni going for a similar price, yes, that would be ideal. But at this point I just want to sell him before Arse change their mind and go for someone better. If that’s £40-45m with some add ons on top then fine.
-
I just don’t understand. How does someone as young as him have so many fucking injuries? Unless he’s got some sort of degenerative condition that’s always going to recur that we don’t know about. He’s 21 years old and has somehow had an entire career’s worth of injuries. And what’s most ridiculous is that we almost never actually SEE his injuries! He plays a game, gets through it with no visible issues, and then days later we suddenly find out he’s gone for extended periods with no explanation.
-
Sure does feel silent all around so far today. Expected to hear more Madueke stuff when I woke up and generally about a bunch of activity around the league.
-
The more I think about it the more I’m of the mind that another specialist LW must be brought in if Madueke goes. If the idea is to depend on Gittens who is only 20 and coming into a new, much tougher league + Tyrique George who isn’t ready yet either then we could be in trouble in that area if the former struggles to adapt. Not a Kudus type who can play anywhere but isn’t natural in a specific position. But a natural LW who you can swap interchangeably with Gittens. George can go out on loan and play every week.
-
I just can’t see Arse spending £68m on Eze to backup Odegaard, £50m on Madueke to backup Saka, and then £80m+ on Rodrygo. All that after the big money to sign Zubimendi and Gyokeres. If they sign Madueke and Eze there’s surely no way they’re still in for another AM like Rodrygo.
-
I was talking about if they get Eze first. I don’t know why they’d need both.
