We know Rogers and Yildiz are virtually untouchable this summer so it’s between Garnacho and Simons surely. I pray we make the easy decision.
-
I know there will be. I’m asking whether we’re comfortable right now after the sales we’ve already made or are we still under big pressure to sell more?
-
So if the Veiga deal happens we’ll have raised about £100m between him, Madueke, and Petrović. Players who wouldn’t have played major roles here at all going forward. Very nice. Wonder how many more sizable sales are required for the club to feel completely comfortable with our finances.
-
Unfortunately, Plettenberg is super hit or miss. One of those engagement farmers who throws a million things at the wall. Until Ornstein, Fab, or Matt Law say anything then I’m not moved.
-
I’d be pleasantly surprised if we moved for Simons or any other attacker before selling one of Nkunku or Jackson. But I’m not sure we will.
-
So we got João Pedro & Liam Delap for about the same as Liverpool are paying for Ekitike.
-
The Sesko links with United are strange. Multiple other big PL clubs apparently cooled on him bevause the price was too high. So how would broke ass Man United afford him if the others didn’t want to touch him? Also, if you’re Leipzig who are about to see a fellow Bundesliga club sell their promising young striker to a PL team for €90-95m why would you agree to a single pound less than that for yours? I think the Jackson/Garnacho shit feels inevitable. 🫤

Sarr straight back on loan to Strasbourg. We know that wasn’t the original intention and it comes completely out of the blue. Gave him a squad number and took him on tour. For this to come out of nowhere I wonder if that means a new defender is coming in?
-
Only scenario I can think of is one of the newly promoted sides or one of the smaller clubs looking for a splashy “big name” to excite their supporters. Otherwise I can only see another loan or contract termination. Though, I don’t know how viable paying off someone on Sterling’s wages would be.
-
I’d rather have Rogers if given the choice as well but from what I’ve been watching Simons looks like he has that Hazard-like super low center of gravity. As you say he’s really crafty on the ball and is difficult to bully and disposes. I don’t think he’d struggle in the PL. Looks like someone who could be a foul magnet just like Eden as well which could be very useful.
-
Just the thought that we could buy Garnacho when super technical ballers like Xavi Simons, Rodrygo, or Fofana are there to be had is sickening. Could throw Eze in there too despite him being slightly older than what our club goes for these days. I just don’t see this huge potential that some in our recruitment team clearly do in Garnacho. Doesn’t strike me as a player who will ever be more than okay. And if that’s the case we may as well have kept Madueke.

Think both fullbacks will be serious upgrades. Trent is capable of magical moments when attacking but is terrible defensively and Liverpool fans say he basically quit halfway through last season and had his head in Madrid. So if Frimpong can defend even a little bit I don’t think they miss him. And Kerkez should be a massive upgrade on the left side. Ekitike is the big gamble for them out of all their signings. But with the other crazy good attackers he’s going to be surrounded by the pressure for him to put up big numbers isn’t going to be there.
-
Wonder how Klopp feels watching Liverpool finally spending like this after years and years of him being given a shoestring budget whilst trying to go toe to toe with free spending Pep and City for all those titles. He could’ve won 2-3 more PL titles if he had this sort of backing. Hard to see how they don’t repeat as champions this season unless this is just too much change too fast. Crazy to win the league at a canter and then change half the starting XI like this.
-
Everyone thought Frankfurt were hilarious for demanding €100m for Ekitike when we were linked a month ago. And they were right. That’s an insane asking price for a dude who had 1 good but not even GREAT season. I’m glad we stayed away. But now Liverpool are actually going to almost pay that. Ekitike for €95m! Absolutely outrageous fee for someone who is so far from being the finished product.
-
You guys think we should sell Renato Veiga or bring him back and use him? With the big clubs he’s linked with clearly he’s very highly rated. Has the potential to play a ton of minutes for us as cover for both Cucu and Levi. We will certainly at least double our money if we sell him judging by the reports but if he goes to a Bayern or Atleti and they develop him more he could turn into a £70m+ player who we’d massively regret letting go.
-
How and why would UEFA be able to tell any club what they think a player is worth? Surely zero chance something like that could hold up legally.
-
I would tell United £70m + add ons for Jackson. They payed that for Hojlund and Nico is miles better than him.
-
He was just posing with Madueke at his Arse signing so I’m guessing he’s got a great relationship with them too. In fact, that’s probably why these Simons rumors are heating up today. He’s probably more likely Arse bound than here.
-
If Arse are interested in Xavi Simons I assume that means he’s an alternative to Eze. I wonder if that means whichever club gets Simons the other goes for Eze. Problem is Eze would be considered “too old” for our recruitment team.
-
I was thinking more about the space they occupy. With Quenda coming in next summer as well I don’t see any space whatsoever for Paez if we buy another #10 this summer. It’s already hard to picture how Quenda gets lots of minutes if Neto & Estevão have great seasons on the RW.
-
I’d absolutely take Xavi Simons. But it would probably be a death sentence for Kendry Paez’s chances of ever being a Chelsea first team player even if he kills it at Strasbourg.
-
I feel like Rogers is probably completely unobtainable this summer. Villa are having a piss poor summer window as it stands and if they were to sell their new star talent their supporters would revolt. Especially as a club which has ambitions of breaking into the UCL places, you don’t do so by weakening yourself and strengthening a club that you’re competing with for those places. If he has a real breakout season and develops even further then I suspect Villa will be demanding Grealish money for him this time next year.
-
The Madueke thing is weird. Supposedly everything was signed between the clubs on Monday and still no announcement. Is Arse waiting for Gyokeres to get done so they can soften the blow for their supporters?
-
Xavi Simons is an absolute baller but isn’t he much more of a #10 than a winger?
-
What happened to him at Bayern? I remember they badly wanted him and did a lot to sign him. Anyway, I get the feeling that we won’t be seeing any incomings for a while. Doesn’t seem as though we’re aggressively pursuing anyone at the moment. No hot rumors or links, just kind of a rehashing of names we have been loosely interested in before the window even opened. Seems to be full focus on outgoings for the time being.
