Enzo apparently may not have his work permit situation handled in time to play tomorrow. That would mean a pretty dire looking midfield in terms of defensive solidity. A Gallagher + RLC or Gallagher + Carney midfield paring doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence.

Enzo is essentially what Jorginho could’ve been if he had the desire to make forward passes. He’s got that same ability to completely run a game from deep in midfield but unlike J5 he can actually create. And as a bonus he’s got a tenacious streak to him.

I’m going to lose my shit if we sign Caicedo for £90m or something in the last hour of the window.

The biggest thing that should still give us encouragement is that UEFA amortization loophole changing in the summer. The club will be desperate to get a 100m player on a super long deal this month or it’ll become highly unlikely that we can afford him in a few months. As some of us have said all month, it’s January or not at all unless we have a contract inked for him to move in the summer with the current amortization rules locked in. There will be way more suitors then and who knows how attractive we may still be to him then depending on how the rest of our season goes.
