Tell them £50m all in one go and he’s there’s. I like Conor and think he’ll be a solid PL midfielder for 10 years but he’s not the top class players we had all hoped he’d become. Would be sensational business if the club can get £45-50m for a player who struggles for minutes and probably doesn’t get any minutes when all our midfielders are fit.

I see. That makes more sense. I thought the 5 installments was like a bunch of chunks spread over years. A huge portion up front with small installments later is more likely.

The conflicting reports about the structure of the deal is what’s giving me doubts still. If we offer to pay a massive chunk of the fee up front I think this gets done. But some reporters suggesting we’re trying to break this deal up into 3-5 installments I don’t think Benfica will go for. They need cover for their angry fan base who will be pissed off that they’re selling their star player in the midst of a tight title race. If Rui Costa can say to them “the player really pushed to go and we got such a massive offer we couldn’t refuse it,” they’ll be more understanding. If they get some small amount payed every summer for 5 years it just doesn’t hit the same.

Failing to get Enzo for a second time this month and then frantically paying WAY over value for Caicedo at the last minute would be such a letdown. Please let Benfica accept our terms, ffs. You’ll get all your damn money, just maybe not all at once. 😡

I just like the idea of Nkunku being our primary striker in the future. Someone who is lightning quick, great in tight areas, awesome dribbler. Bringing in a traditional #9 in my opinion should only be someone inexpensive and as a Plan B. A Giroud type. Perhaps an older veteran like United have just done with Weghorst.

Just offer like €90m up front with easily achievable add-on’s reaching the full €120m. Benfica get their mega money, we get the payment terms in installments to help with FFP.

Every time I open Twitter it’s excitement that there’s some positive Enzo update and nervousness that Rui Costa will pull some bullshit and refuse to negotiate terms even if the installments eventually get him the full €120m. Glad there’s only 2 days left of this window.

As an aside, if we are going so hard trying to get Enzo this month rather than summer, wouldn’t it have made sense for us to try to get even a small fee and sell Jorginho now rather than let him walk for free? Enzo is his direct replacement and if we get him that should make Jorginho’s minutes go to basically nothing. We probably could’ve got a few million for him from someone.

So this could still continue to be an ugly situation if Benfica dig their heels in. 😒 We have to hope face to face negotiations tomorrow can soften their stance.

If we land Enzo this week and Arse fail to get Caicedo I could honestly see us getting him in the summer as well if we sell the likes of RLC, Gallagher and let Jorginho and Zakaria leave. Enzo + Caicedo would be nuts.

Yep. Injury free Kante from a couple of years ago would be the picture perfect partner for Enzo.
