bababoom got a reaction from Nero in Nabil Fekir
At this moment in time only Alfredo Pedulla is reporting it, probably milking Chelsea fans for a few final clicks before the transfer window closes. He's reliable when it comes to Italian football but doubt he knows much about this deal.

bababoom got a reaction from Fernando in 🇭🇷 Mateo Kovacic
If he does well for us this season no way will Madrid sell now, the lack of a buy out clause is big indication that Perez wants him to stay. Reports in Spain have suggested that Madrid think he is the natural successor to Modric so basically its a win-win for them. Kovacic gets to play highly competitive football and by the time he returns next year Modric will be almost 34, perfect from a Madrid point of view.
It's positive for Chelsea as well, we are getting a quality player that probably makes our midfield trio the best in the league alongside City's. Also if he is a success and returns to Madrid next season at least the board know we have to replace him with a similar type of player, it's not ideal but definitely an upgrade on the likes of Baka, Drinkwater and Cesc.

bababoom reacted to Superblue in The Sarri Thread
Today has clearly showed the bar which Chelsea must work towards reaching. At this moment we are pretty far away but the overreaction today on this forum is incredible.
Sarri has been at the club for less than 3 weeks in a summer where not even all of our players are back for pre season yet. To add to this we've travelled to Australia in this timeframe and also played games in France and Ireland.
The change we are making is massive. It's not just "hey, we're going to play a more expansive, attacking style which all the players are going to enjoy and everything will be good!". Not only does Sarri want the team to play in a certain way with our passing and movement, but we are also being coached to press all over the pitch, in particular the final third which we haven't been doing previously under Conte and obviously the shift to a back 4 with a high line in comparison to a back 3/5 with a deep line.
You could see today a player as tactically solid and dependable as Azpilicueta was even struggling tucking in way too much and leaving a lot of room out wide. These changes won't be learnt in a couple of weeks. Remember that Conte didn't implement his 3-4-3 until the end of September. He largely kept Mourinho's tactics which the team were used to and drilled towards playing until this point to give the best chance of getting some early results, but even that left us struggling. This is a work in progress and a lot of patience will be required.
I understand some of the reservations regarding our squad and there are some players who clearly don't cut it, but this is still a good group of players, a large group of which have won 2 of the last 4 premier leagues. People say that Chelsea don't have the players that can play the way Napoli did but we're comparing to his finished article after 3 years work with them. Look at some of those Napoli players the year that Sarri took over and they would have been saying similar things. Jorginho was a backup player that Sarri ended up moulding the team around. Mertens and Insigne were nothing more than squad players too. The Napoli fans thought Koulibaly was useless and looked terrible trying to play the ball out from the back. They have all been coached and trusted in time to perform how they did for Napoli.
The biggest issue is clearly up front for us. Morata hasn't played well at all and doesn't appear to be the answer, but Sarri hasn't had Bats or Giroud yet so has had no alternative. Let's also note that at Napoli, having lost Higuain he converted Mertens who was nothing more than a squad player winger previously. If there is a coach that is creative and willing to coach what he has to make it work then we have that man.
We are not likely, or expected, to be challenging Man City for the title this season. But I do think we've got a good chance of making the top 4 this season. But it will take some time and patience for this to get to where we all want it to reach.

bababoom got a reaction from Superblue in 🇧🇷 Willian
Look, obviously £60 million is big money for a largely inconsistent winger, but i'm not going to moan if we keep him. Sarri's a big fan and It'll be interesting to see how he fairs in an attacking team. I mean the large majority of his time playing for Chelsea and Brazil have been under pragmatic coaches, the likes of Scoalri, Dunga, Tite, Mourinho and Conte. Who would have Mertens and Insigne would be world beaters under Rafa? all i'm saying is i'm relaxed either way.

bababoom reacted to Belgiannutt in 🇧🇪 Eden Hazard
I think he'll stay and sign a new deal. Like you say it's worth the risk. Right now it would put us in such a poor position should we sell him now.
The style we're currently looking to play fits him perfectly and most of Hazard's frustrations we've seen or heard have been because of our negative hoofball tactics (especially in big games)

bababoom reacted to Shakez in 🇧🇪 Eden Hazard
To be fair, the reason Hazard is being so vague about the future is because Real hasn't really made a real offer for him yet (only Barca did). If they came he would probably push for a move, but by openly courting Real "saying that he's available" he hopes the offer does come.
Meanwhile he doesn't wanna burn his bridges with Chelsea, and leave the door open for a stay if the offer doesn't come. Wich im honestly not sure if it will even come. We know that Real are interested more in Mbappé and Neymar, not only because they're a bit younger. But because they easier to market and are both more prolific than Hazard. Real already has some players with the same profile as Hazard. Namely Isco, and Asensio. There are also big rumours that James is getting a second chance next season (Lopetegui rates him), so Hazard doesn't make any sense imo. Real are far more in need of a proper striker (and a prolofic goal-scorer).
Also there's the fact that we aren't linked with any winger atm. Unlike with Courtois, where we are preparing a replacement already (Allison). I don't think Chelsea are willing to sell him now, and there will obviously be big talks first about next season with management and Sarri before they will even consider allowing him to leave to Real.

Would there not have been some movement already if he was told a while ago he was staying? Surely we would've gotten one or two signings in by now. Otherwise, what in the actual fuck are we waiting for to enter the market?
The reason has to be because we're waiting for a new manager. I cannot fathom our board being dumb enough for it to be for any other reason.

91 points. only 3 times in the history of serie A a team finished with more points. we would have won all the others
3 Napoli records of points in 3 years
higuain best scorer ever in serie a, 37 gols. at juventus, 40 gols in 2 years
please take Sarri , give him the team he deserve and win with him
i feel so bad for losing such a great manager, I feel worst than when we've lost Maradona

Apparently Chelsea have finished the Enrique deal, he wants too much and we are moving on. Leo Jardim is the next potential coach. I would be happy with Jardim, far happier with him than Enrique thats for sure.

Tbh i'd prefer a swap deal between Bale and Hazard rather then going for Isco/James. Bale is PL proven and a leader, just look at how many matches he won for Spurs and Wales. He relishes being the main man which is refreshing tbh.

11 point gap at the 70th minute mark 1-1, bet Mourinho would have been happy with a point away from home and we'd have played a dull game until the end.
Conte took a defender off, changed tactics, kept pushing at all costs and it payed off. Such a change in mentality, totally transforming the club from top to bottom and we're not even the finished article yet.
No more drama, controversy, silly mind games, negative tactics, no more bad press.
He's given this club a new identity and although Chelsea is hated from right to left, I bet there's a lot of neutrals saying "wow they really ditched negative tactics, they really are a fun team to watch."
Give the man a new contract and let him decide on transfers. Club's going into the right direction. Amazing time to be a Chelsea fan.

bababoom reacted to Henrique in The Conte Thread
I'm really impressed with Conte. In the first games he looked really poor, specially with his late game subs. Some people here were talking nonsense about the squad being incredibly bad and even saying Conte wasnt doing good because he did not get he not so world class players like Koulibaly and Naingolan. While I agree those are good players, they lack of them were not the reason why the teams wasnt performing well. Conte was reluctant to use his favorite 3-6-1 formation, and he decided to give it a try after the humiliation defeat against Arsenal.
Even after the first good results I wasnt sure about his qualities, since it seemed he was only using the "formation that won the last game". He was playing the same starting XI over and over, but in recent games I realized he is even better than the first good results with this formation were suggesting.
Against City he realized he needed to change thing really quickly, so he dropped Pedro for Willian. That was a game changer move. The team went to win that game, 3-1, with Willian scoring the 2-1.
Against Sunderland we had no Hazard. Then instead of just replacing him with Willian, he also moved Fabregas into the starting line up replacing Matic. Without Hazard we lose a lot of creativity and attacking power, so bringing Fabregas would help to fix that hole, while Willian is better than Hazard in helping the defensive system, so Matic's absence would not have a great impact in the teams defensive duties. The team went to win that game with Fabregas goal after a Willian assist.
Against Palace, Pedro who was a regular starting player for most part of the season was not even used, instead Fabregas was introduced replacing Willian in the 2nd half, because Conte realized that game was asking for more presence in the midfield, something Fabregas would offer more than Pedro.
What about the last game? Everybody were just expecting Batixuai to replace Costa, instead he went with Pedro, who scored 2 of our 3 goals. Still 20 games on the cards, but at this point Conte is looking a hell of a manager.

I think the fact that we stuck to our principles, pressing them high up the pitch in spurts throughout the game and more importantly, passing out from the back, even with a few mistakes (note - it goes both ways. City made a lot of mistakes trying to pass out from the back as well, even though Pep is supposed to be the master of that art).
Answer me this. How many times under Jose did we ever play away from home and pass out from the back with almost all our goalkicks? How many times did we ever have our fullbacks/wingbacks so high up the pitch? How many times did we have 5 shots on target? Or score 3 goals?
Jose would have gone 6-3-1 in this game. Hazard fullback for 90 mins. Costa feeding off scraps. I'm actually disappointed by the (admittedly very very few) posters here still having a moan about Conte needs to do this and that.
8 wins in a row, including wins against Utd, City, Spurs, Everton and Southampton. We obviously need upgrades in defense in the next transfer window(s), but can you imagine how good we'll be if we're already this formidable with this backline?

bababoom got a reaction from Tautvix in 🇧🇪 Thibaut Courtois
I have to say Courtois has surprised me, big time. His passing out of the back has been sublime, i'm actually shocked how quickly he has adapted to this style of play. Under Mourinho he seemed to have a panic attack every time he was asked to touch the ball with his feet, but now he seems so much calmer and his passing has been on point.
