Be careful what you wish for 19th Apr 2011, In Articles, by Tomo-91 The title says it all. I am in fact stunned by the constant “Carlo out” calls. Be careful what you wish for. Why? Who is there better that is also available? Jose is not coming back – sorry to burst the dream, but he won’t leave Madrid until he has won La Liga and that wont be happening this year. Furthermore, do you honestly think Roman will admit he was wrong and say ‘there you are, Jose: unlimited funds you take control?’ There’s more of chance of Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane getting a civil partnership. Also I think its fair to say we can kiss goodbye to any hope of seeing some of our Youth Cup players breaking through to our first team any time soon. McEachran will be the only one that would even get a sniff if Mourinho came back. You can bet that the rest will be gone for the good of their careers. You can say what you want about Carlo with the youth set-up, but he has at least given them more chances than any other manager weve had since Vialli. Hiddink isn’t the answer either. Yes, he did do well during his brief reign, but remember it was merely four months. That’s the equvilent of a rich vein of form; and if he was Superman then why are Turkey struggling, and why did Russia fail to reach the World Cup? Granted it was all good under Guus because everything was going our way, but if things start to go against us, how do you know he won’t be walking around wondering what to do. I think its pretty fair to say his job was made easier because of the fact he came after Scolari, and most of the players were just happy a new face was in. I would have liked to see how he would have fared if he came in straight after José – I love Guus and he is a great man, but if you think he will come back in and have us ruling English football you are sadly mistaken. You can also add that to the fact he has said he doesn’t want to go back to club football management either. Who else is there around? Rafa Benitez?! We do this we will be out of the top four, playing on Channel 5 at best, and he will leave us with a squad full of expensive flops. People say Jose is about the here and now, but name me one thing Rafa did at Liverpool that was building towards the future? That being said, with Roman’s obsession with the European Cup and Rafa delivering it to Merseyside in 2005, I honestly wouldn’t put it past Roman to make a attempt to get him. Perhaps then all the Carlo bashers will suddenly realize that one average season (where we can still finish second) isn’t actually that bad after all. Who else then? Lippi? He is in his twilight years we will get 3-4 years as manager before he moves on. Rijkaard? Please, he got a dutch club relegated. Van Basten? Well, he got sacked from Ajax for failing to qualify for the CL. Pep Guardiola? He has one of the best ever teams at his disposal, fair play for making the best out of them but if we comes here he will have to build a team and his transfer record leaves a lot to be desired. Zola or di Matteo? Sorry but no, legends as players but that doesn’t qualify them as great managers as well. Villas Boaz seems the only realistic option if the unthinkable happens this summer – but considering his commitment to Porto, wrestling him away will be an expensive option. So basically the only realistic target is Benitez and if Carlo leaves I would not put it past Roman to appoint him (because of his CL record) – and do you really want that? Basic rules with football management… you need… 1st year – to assess the situation (which Carlo did, winning a Double with players that weren’t even ‘his’). 2nd year – to make changes (again, something Carlo has done and in the long run the players he has brought in will have a positive effect on the team). 3rd year – to really stamp your authority. At least give him that year to do that and see where it takes us. As far as I’m concerned this has just been ’2nd season syndrome’ for Carlo and despite all our troubles we could still end the season in 2nd place despite a couple of months ago looking in danger of dropping out of the top four. Yet Carlo has still helped to turn our fortunes around when things were going against us. Could you imagine Rafa doing that? Because if Carlo leaves, his face in the hotseat is a real possibility. So for those who want Carlo out, be very careful what you wish for…

You dont choose your club it choses you. I was about 3 when i realized i was a Chelsea supporter but in reality i think the decision was made for me when i was born.
-
Cant wait to see the hypocritical Mancs and media defend him.

welcome

Maybe bring a RB in but chances are they will be 2nd choice to Ivan's unless they get a lucky break similar to his own at Anfield so spending £18m on one isnt a good idea and imo will be like Yuri all over again.

Seeing Kenny bring Flanagan and Robinson at RB and LB for the game at the Emirates yes-today im thinking we could do a lot worse than give these 2 some game time. I would have added Nathaniel to that list but as he is 16 i can't see him being considered for atleast a couple of years. But IMHO these 2 guys are natural quality, Billy can play a RB and is like Gary Neville with a goal threat (and not a cunt) and he can also play in centre midfield and does excellently there aswell, while Aziz is a good attacking defender but his defending is so good it would be a waste IMO to send him on the wing. If Liverpool can do it would it really hurt for us to do the same?

Which team do you support after we are knocked out?

Remember when Valdes man-handled Jose, imagine if Cech did that to Guardiola 12 months earlier at SW6? -

Do you have any idea how vital the Kalou's of this world are to a squad? He is happy to sit on the bench most time and has done so for 5 years and can make an impact when come on. I dont care what any-one says Kalou's stats are actully quite good. --------------------------------APPS (as sub)------Goals---Assists 2006/2007-----------------------25(33)--------------9-----------5 2007/2008-----------------------33(15)-------------11---------12 2008/2009-----------------------30(13)-------------10----------8 2009/2010-----------------------21(15)-------------12----------4 2010/2011(so far)-------------18(18)-------------10----------5 Stats dont lie, for a squad player they are pretty impressive, not to mention he seems to pop up with vital goals at vital times. 2006/2007 Equalizer at home to Spurs in the cup that gets us a replay, we go on to win the replay then the whole tournament. Last minute winner against Watford that kept us in the title race. 2007/2008 Winner at Bolton which ended a worrying winless and scoring run. The winner at christmas against Newcastle which kept us in touch with the top 2. Although not a goal the pinpoint cross for Riise's OG, an away goal which helped us progress to Moscow. 2008/2009 A leveler against Man.Utd which saved our home run (all be it briefly). 2 goals and 2 assists when we thumped Boro 5-0 away and 2 crucial goals in the return fixture at home. Gave us the lead against Cluj in the CL group game when it looked like we could have been going out. Scored against Southend which spared us an embarrising home FA Cup exit, we won the replay and went on to win the FA Cup. the only goal of the game against West Ham away.Cech saved Noble's penalty and helped us take 3 points. 2009/2010 Scored a priceless away goal in the San Siro. Struggling against Cardiff in the FA Cup, he comes on game changes 4-1, we go on to win it. Early brace against Stoke in the run in which settled unbearable nerves in the title run in (he went on to get a hat-trick). 3rd goal against Wigan which settled lingering doubts about where the title was heading. So all in all he has scored some pretty vital goals for us and he is a valuable member of our squad and if he leaves every-one who bashed him will suddenly realise that, the fact that he has had 5 managers at Chelsea and none have sold him speaks volumes, as far as im concerned were lucky to have him.

Just goes to show that this forum is going places and the only way is up. The staff's work on this site is out-standing and thats why it is the best forum around.

Well said Tried to give you a rep but it claims ive used my quota for the day We have a very good future IMO and watching the youth cup team this season i genuianly believe that in a few years time we could have Chalaboah, B.Clifford, Josh and Deen-Conteh running our team dont know if im alone here but there all quality and i will be gutted if they dont get atleast a chance, not even mentioning Conor aswell. But your right can't wait for next season now and hopefully we can shut every-one up. KTBFFH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWt9JEGkoTA&feature=player_embedded Never been that big fan of Dalglish but full respect for that, any-one who tells that cast iron hypocrite where to go deserves a medal. Im guessing Wenger refused to shake hands AGAIN LOL Have on on me Kenny that was gold

Bale is overhyped and IMO still living off the the 2 games against Inter and the Arsenal and Chelsea games at the back end of last season. As much as i hate to say Cuntarito not Wilshere deserves young player of the year.

People can say what they like about the Bridge but every single Chelsea fan with utmost confidence can call it the home of their team. Can Arsenal do the same with the Emirates? One location, One name, One stadium, One postcode = Chelsea FC and thats the way i want it to stay.

Thanks for all the good comment, given reps to you all

Ive been on a fair few forums down the years but i can safely say that none come close to talk chelsea in terms of quality and good users. I can remember well the cold January night when i typed Chelsea forum on google this one came on top, i signed in and aint looked back since, all users are great and, as any-one who knows me personally will tell you i have a very low boredom threshold and novelty can ware off very quickly but with this site i still feel the original novelty today to when i signed up, which is testament to the staff of this site. Google i owe you Every user on here is a great user and we all might have difference's at times (my Bosingwa thread had mixed responses for example) but there is one thing that will always unite us, our love for Chelsea FC. Talk Chelsea IMO is not just the best Chelsea forum on the net or even football forum but the best forum on the net and i can safely say that as-long as this site is around so will i (if your have me). Also i would like to say thanks to the people that voted me best newcomer (and to those that do if i get any more) i honestly didn't think i would even be considered. All have one on me and may TC be around for many years to come

I honestly dont think we need Van Der Weil even if Bossy and Paulo goes? £18m for a RB who will play 2nd fiddle to Ivan? no thanks, it will be Yuri Zhirkov all over again. Why dont we just bring through Billy Clifford? I don't honestly think we need to splash out on a creative midfielder, we have our very own homegrown and chomping at the bit sensation that cost absolutely nowt, he's good enough and ready who gives a fuck if he is 18 because i fucking do not. Sahin if we can get him for £5m but if not just leave it to Josh. Wingers should be our TOP priority, id have Robben back tommorow and Neymar, those 2 supporting Drogba/Torres and were laughing. Drogba we should keep if he is prepared for a lesser role, am i the only one who thinks he could do the right hand side Anelka job well, left backs are hardly known for their strength this could be a area we exploit by playing Drog there but would his ego let him watch Fernando take center stage up front? but his age shouldn't matter it hardly affected Zola did it? Anelka and Malouda ill always appreciate for what they have done for the club but its time to move on i think. Lampard has been struggling this season, how about lesser his role and when he does play he will be more fresh and ready to bang in the goals, ever heard of less is more? i strongly believe he can do a Giggs if handled right. Sturridge and Kakuta deserve to come back and be given a shot next season, Kakuta maybe via a short term loan. Also am i the only 1 desperate for Conor Clifford to be given a shot? he is a battler and a leader and has got big game player written all over him could be our Darren Fletcher in that respect (say what you like about Fletcher but you cant deny he is a key big game player for Utd). Chalaboah and Aziz IMO need 1 more year before being considered for regualar 1st team action.
