  1. Apparently "America's doing a runner" according to my freinds facebook, any one heard anything or is she just trolling us?
  2. Things were not all rosy that season and should have been used as a warning sign. We recovered and romped to the title in the end because we were out of the CL and only playing once a week, infact the time we had to play 2 league games in a week at the end was against Bolton were we limped to a win then against Spurs were we got battered. There were warning signs that season that the team needed to be changed but the end made us and the board believe it was all rosy, looking back it would have been better if our form patterns during 09/10 reversed. EDIT: i completely misread your post
  3. That is true, i just look at that team and most of the players are past their best or football journeyman, the only real "asset" they have is Begovic and to a lesser extent Shawcross. I do think it's only a matter of time before that team horrifically stagnate.
  4. I still find it bemusing that a lot still go on about what a great job Tony Pulis is doing at Stoke. For the first couple of years he was working miracles but since then has had the 3rd highest net spend in the league, the fact he hasn't evolved that team is criminal.
  5. I actually think Fergie is responsible for this. His continued blind faith in Giggs and Scholes is alarming, as is his thinking that is still 2008 where Vidic, Rio and Evra are concerned. He has started to get a bit sentimental in his old age.
  6. Hopefully the club will be aware of that and sort it out at the same time.
  7. Having a world class forward in top form won't solve all our problems, but they will make them seem less. I remember Carlo's first season, i thought for a fair chunk of the season their was clear signs the team was on the way down, what covered up that fact? Didier Drogba's form and goals. United's team are not great, what's covering that fact?
  8. It's good Torres scoring at last, it's only taken £125m to get it to happen.
  9. At half time a fight broke out in my house, i hope it happens more often.
  10. When he signed it was said he can play right back, centre back or defensive midfield. I don't want Paulo at centre back again after what happened last time, would rather risk Azpi there. Tonight the unthinkable has happened, Bosingwa would have come in handy
  11. Push Ivanovic up there (he played DM before us) play Azpi centre half and Paulo right back. I wonder if Azpi can play as good as Bosingwa at centre half. or failing that Lucas Piazon or Saville.
  12. About the same, although i think Danny has a much higher ceiling.
  13. I actually think he is more of a Hasselbaink than a Drogba.
  14. That was his only good game that season, if only we realized the consequences of that match for years to come.
  15. The one i actually found most bewildering was Ranieri (are we only counting Roman era)? We have just replaced a manager who got us CL football for the first time and won us the FA Cup for a manager who relegated Ath.Madrid.
  16. It wasn't so much that as he just won the treble with AVB's Porto at the time, it was more to the fact we still had Drogba on the wage bill and the board were still convinced Torres would come good, ooopsss.
  17. I understand your concerns, but Falcao is not Torres, he won't let an underpar start affect him mentally. A bit like RVP, after his debut at Everton, Torres like jokes were getting prepared for him, he killed them off by netting the following week. Although i would like to spend that money on 3-4 players, i just cannot for the life of me seeing Falcao epic-ally flop.
  18. Or we could have just signed Falcao when he had a mere £24m release clause
  19. I agree with the highlighted part but the situation with Falcao is different to with Sheva and Torres. Sheva has already built a legacy, he was past his best and Milan fleeced us for £30m. Torres was crap for 6 months prior to his arrival, the mistake we made was thinking it was because he was getting bored of life in Liverpool and needing a new challenge (well that and not doing a proper medical on him). I agree that we should look out for the 'next Falcao' ourself's but i really can't see how he will flop, like with RVP he has too much quality and confidence for that to happen.
  20. With our old team we could go to Elland Road, stand up, match and better the physical aspect of the game and come out with a win, now im worried we will lose. For years we were able to cope and lol at rough and tumble tactics set by the likes of Allardyce and Warnock, now we are getting battered by it.
  21. Pique and Rossi aswell, Fergie didn't know what to do with them and since both have turned into world class footballers. For one Ronaldo you can name 6 example's where Fergie has fucked up with young players.
  22. 2006/2007 was the peak of my football watching, i was watching any and every game and i saw a lot of the Portuguese League and those two (along with Moutinho) shined out like a golden star, i was that worried when United got them i was desperate for us to sign Moutinho to even it out a bit
  23. Ferguson is not as good with young players as we are led on to believe, Anderson and Nani while they have turned out decent, had insane potential as a teenager that Fergie never looked like unlocking.
