Their seems to be more of a calmness about England now, more of a realistic look at where the country actually is and if England get to Brazil next summer there won't be so much expectancy which could work in the favour (like Chelsea in 2012 CL, Arsenal in 2006). In 2010 there was that stupid Venables song, in 2006 it was the golden generation hype, now their's no hype we don't have a player at the peak of their powers and a manager that nearly relegated Liverpool, so maybe the less pressure might actually help the team and get England a respectable tounament at the very least. Still maintain Terry and the FA need to swallow their pride to have a chance of actually winning tho.

People keep going on about Oscar being moved to the pivot, if any of our six AM's do (not saying they will, but if any of them do) i would put money on it being this guy.

Gerrard is the most over-rated player i have ever seen, and as he gets older it's getting worse, man of the match? really.

What you mean the Torres that walked down the tunnel after being subbed off? The Torres that still had a face like a slapped ass when we scored the goals when we beat Southampton 5-1? The same Torres that sulked to the media a day after we won the CL? The same Torres that came out and said he didn't care about results? The same Torres who often sulks and hides when he doesn't get a pass or slips over? Torres having a good attitude is the biggest myth around.

He's not the first name on the team sheet and club captain at 18. He will never make it.

Its the English United players you have to feel sorry for, 18 months ago they had Ferguson and Capello managing them now they have got Moyes and Hogdson.

Maybe if Tottenham used the loan market on Bale as a teenager he would have accelerated to the top even faster. Just a thought.

Squad rotation isn't really that critical in August, most teams play the same lineup's in August its when the games start coming and coming in September to early December, that's when the strength of the squad will really start coming into play, as we found out to our cost last season and in Carlo's 2nd campaign.

Most of them in the first half of last season when they had hardly no other option's, as soon as Sturridge and Coutinho put pen to paper he was back on the sidelines. So apart from a 6 month spell Liverpool have been just as bad with young players as us in the last decade. I can understand criticism of our youth system because it's left a lot to be desired but Liverpool haven't done much better since the millenium.

Imagine if this happened a couple of years back when we were still stuck with Kaloudanelka?
-
Your right, they had so much faith in Sterling they splashed out on Coutinho, Alberto, Aspas, Sturridge and got Moses in on loan.

Actually i think the only problem that year was Kezman. Drogba was actually pretty good that season despite the urban myth's suggesting otherwise and Gudjohnsen was never a prolific scorer, but made up for it in nearly every other sense.

Speaking of Boro, the Friday night game between Birmingham and Boro last November, the 2 goals Butland conceded that night you wouldn't even expect from Ross Turnbull.
-
Haven't you heard? we took a bullet for them as they always thought Chadli was the superior player

----------------------Cech-------------------------- Ivanovic-------Luiz-------Terry------------Cole -----------------Ramires---MVG----------------- Schurrle------------Mata----------------Hazard ----------------------Eto'O-------------------------- SUBS: Schwarzer, Cahill, Lampard, KDB, Willian, Oscar, Ba. My reason for picking Schurrle is to track Baines.

I have just read your response and i disagree that they didn't have the season people expected them to have, i thought they had a very good season. 83 points is a very good return and 9 times out of 10 that will have you in the title race right up until the last couple of games of the season and sometimes even winning it, they were just unlucky that they came up against the most complete team in Premiership history.

I know some have said Ozil wasn't exactly what was needed, but sometimes when players are available you just have to snap them up, even if they aren't an urgent need, because you won't have another chance. Take Robin Van Persie for example, United's strong position was forward but another world class forward was available and they could not let that chance slide. Chelsea with Oscar too, another number 10 wasn't an urgent concern compared to say the pivot and the strike position, but Oscar at the time was (and still is) a extremely talented young player and us not getting him means Spurs would have, so we got him. It's the same now with Arsenal and Ozil, regardless if it was a position Arsenal needed to strengthen the most, Ozil is a world class player who is going to improve Arsenal massively and Mourinho knows that, which is why he blocked the Demba Ba move when he found out Ozil was going there. This move imo has made the top 4 places ours, Manchester clubs and Arsenal's to lose, despite Tottenham's fantastic window.

@Stats, Im not too sure, i still look at Liverpool compared to the top 5 and think they still have a bit to do. The fact Moses was a squad player for us but is likely to walk into Liverpool's team says a lot in itself and while Suarez is a top, top player Liverpool do actually seem to play better as a team without him, before his suspension they won 1 game in 5, Sturridge is thriving at the moment with being the main man, that is going to quickly change when the Uruguayan gets back. Coutinho has had a very good half season, but that's no guarantee he won't do a Papis Cisse this season, he was a disaster at times at Inter and was loaned to a team that hardly won when he was on loan there. He is the type of player we should judge after a full season, but im still not convinced he is the 2nd coming of Christ the Liverpool fans are trying to suggest. I know they had a good 2nd half to the season last term but it's worth mentioning they did in Kenny's interim spell, they did in 05/06 both times when they couldn't fulfill their season objective anymore, meaning the pressure was off them, both season's after that they were hyped up beyond belief and flattered to deceive, especially under Kenny, a lot of people thought Liverpool were "back" then and the Kenny revolution was on, the result? an 8th place finish. They look better than last season yes, but will that be enough to make up the 12/13 points needed on Arsenal and Spurs? im not convinced in all honesty. Their is a (small) chance one of them might fuck up and Liverpool pounce but both of them? chances are slim. They will probably climb above Everton because they will take time to adapt to Martinez but i think that will be as good as it will get for them this term.

Giroud was never shit, he has always been a pretty good player, he got harshly judged last season because he was directly replacing Van Persie. He had a decent first season and is getting better this time round.
-
If we ever sign Butland i will cringe, he's whole reputation is built on playing in the olympics, i have a mate who supports Birmingham and i saw a fair few of their games last season, some of the goals he conceded was comical.
-
I don't think they are personally, i don't think their team is all that, i explained it more in the we hate Liverpool thread, i personally don't think their team is all that and still behind Tottenham's and Arsenal, i swear they only get talked up because of their history, if Swansea had the same team (for example) they wouldn't even be on the top 4 radar.
-
If our fans lacked patience, Torres would not have got unconditional support for over 8 months, lets be honest.
-
Arsenal correct, but Liverpool are are going to finish 6th at best this season, so it don't matter about the Moses loan.
