  1. If Torres performed like this tonight, especially in playing a part in 3 goals, they will be floods of comments in his player profile saying he is well and truly back and what great form he is on.
  2. Sounds like every CFC game for Torres bar the last two.
  3. Im guessing this thread is quiet because of the good game he had tonight. If he can start scoring regularly he will be abigger asset this season than general opinion believes.
  4. It took 4 minutes for the co-commentator to have a little dig Tonight shows why he and JT is our best CB pair.
  5. Superb tonight, and even when not scoring, Eto'o offers more than Torres does. Top team performance, same again for Norwich, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
  6. ---------------------Cech----------------------- Azpi---------Cahill------Terry----------Cole --------------Mikel-------Ramires------------ Mata---------------Oscar--------------Willian --------------------Torres---------------------- First time in over 2 years i have put my Torres in "my" lineup on the match thread.
  7. We had stability in every other sense at the club, which is what helped us hugely (even with the assistant's we have only had 3 'club' assistant's in the Roman era, 4 if you count Emenalo's interim spell there). But your right after suffering with the Scolari especially, it baffles me how people are already questioning if Jose is the right man.
  8. 08/09 1 09/10 3 10/11 1 11/12 1 12/13 9 So apart from last season we haven't picked up more than 3 points from Goodison, Old Trafford and White Hart Lane since Jose was here last. When we start dropping silly points then we can start worrying, but there is absolutely nothing to be overally concerned about right now.
  9. Jose has done it again, we have a difficult away trip which has effectively become a must win after the Basle game, normally the spot light would be on that and even more so with the group stage exit last season. Jose has sold the media a dummy story yet again.
  10. Courtois vs Cech will be the saga off the summer next close season, we have exhausted the loan option with this lad, it's decision time.
  11. What you mean like AVB and RDM who started Lukaku every match when fit and played KDB instead of sticking to Malouda (AVB) and signing Marin (RDM)?
  12. Fair enough (regarding Witsel/Eto'o). At the same time how often to we get teams from Bulgaria, Austria or Hungary upsetting the big teams? i can't recall it ever happening, that would be the 'dog shit' league's, those countries have the type of teams we would play in qualifiers and group games and would win comfortably 29 times out of 30. The Swiss league only really has Basle that would give the top teams a game (or St Gallen aswell in our case ) in the Russian league there's the Moscow clubs, Zenit, Anzhi and Rubin who could and have given the big boys tough games on more than one occasion.
  13. So if we signed Witsel would you have the same reservation's? Like i said it may not be the PL but at the same time it's not the Bulgarian League either. If it's as bad as you say why did the likes of Rubin Kazan get 4 points off Barca in the group (and fully deserve too btw)? Why did CSKA Moscow outplay United at Old Trafford? Why did the same team get 4/6 against Arsenal and get to the quarter final? Why did Zenit romp the Europa league smashing Bayern Munich (who were at the time walking the Bundesliga) 5-1 on the way? There is many more example's of Russian teams coming into the CL/EL and matching the "big boys" but im too lazy to check for more examples right now.
  14. How is he semi retired? because he played in the Russian League? it may not be the PL but it is still a strong league with good teams in it, as teams in "strong league's" have found out on more than one occasion.
  15. Don't get me wrong im not trying to say he offer's nothing because that clearly isn't the case but he is in the stage of his career where is game time needs to be managed carefully.
  16. What annoys me is their this constant myth he kept performing minor miracles with a limited budget, which just wasn't true, putting wages into account i think he had the 7th highest budget in the PL, guess what his average finish was for Everton? He did a decent job, but that was it (I use to cringe when people wanted him at Chelsea) compare that to Pellegrini at Villareal who had similar funds to Moyes but delivered consistent CL football (getting them to a couple of quarters and a semi) aswell as being the only manager to break the Real-Barca duopoly in the last nine years. As for Moyes at Man.Utd, am i the only one seeing alarming similarities with Roy Hodgson at Liverpool?
  17. Well by the end he was by far their best player and would be again if he goes back. "Just to tell you that Kevin knows what it's like to put up a fight. So he'll do the same at Chelsea, " Good then he will be forcing his way into Mou's reckoning sooner rather then later then
  18. But at the same time a huge number would have bit our hand off if we offered a Ronaldo-Robben swap. It's probably a similar situation to Benteke-Lukaku now, Benteke is currently better but Lukaku could quite easily overtake him in the near future, in comparison to the United fans situation back then, i doubt their is one CFC fan that would swap the two.
  19. A lot of United fans i know were going mental with him in his first few season's, one trick pony, no end product, why do we have him when Chelsea got Robben, some of the nicer stuff.
  20. The myth Moyes worked miracles at Everton is getting weaker by the minute.
  21. I am 99% sure he will be great for us, he is determined and has the right mentality, which as Frank showed will get you very far. I do personally believe here and now it would have been a big ask for him to carry us in a title race, ofcourse i could be wrong but it's how i see it personally.
  22. Ronaldo got benched at the start of his United career while inferior players were getting fielded in his place, maybe if Fergie sent him on loan programme's like this one, he would have ascended even quicker than he did.
  23. I do understand what your saying but there is more too it than just putting him as our '#1 and pining all our season hopes on him, Chalobah in theory looks a solution to our pivot problems, but in reality he won't be for a few years. It will be different under Jose, if Lukaku shows this season and back at Chelsea next season why he should be playing, he will play whether we have Torres and Ba or Cavani and Falcao. I mean, Jose played Huth a fair bit when we had Terry, Carvalho and Gallas, and Huth was a donkey
  24. Which top club in Europe on par or better than us will guarentee him a number one spot? United won't, City won't, Arsenal won't, Tottenham won't, not even Liverpool will. Taking it abroad Barca, Real, Leti, Dortmund, Munich, Juve, PSG and Monaco won't either. If he goes somewhere were he is guaranteed numero uno permanently, then Everton is probably as good as it will get for him. He looks like he has genuine ambition's to make it at the top and he will keep going and working hard until he does, just like Lampard did, i have no doubt he will be a great striker for us in the future.
  25. I was referring to when you said if we buy a striker in January. If Lukaku see's that as an excuse to hand in a transfer request then quite frankly, he has the wrong mentality. The difference between Lukaku and our other forwards is that the others are on their last legs, they are past their best, while Lukaku needs to be carefully nurtured, their was a choice to loan him to a top 6/7 side were he will play every single game, or stay with us where he will get his fair share of play but is it fair to ask a 20 year old to come from rotating with Shane Long at West Brom to being the main forward at a club looking to win the lot? Being numero uno at Everton will prepare him a lot more for the pressure of being the same here, if he gets loaned out again next season i will jump onto your side off the fence, but Everton was a fantastic loan and i don't believe we were planning on loaning him out until Martinez came along.
