I agree to a point. I will be on board with them getting time but they also need to earn it and show positive evidence that patince will be rewarded. If our new manager has a season akin to Klopp's first season at Liverpool then i will happily give them all the time in the world, but if they have similar results and performances to Moyes at United i will be very vocal about wanting him gone before Christmas.

Not dancing around anything, it's just manager's get so much protection from the average fan that they could be narracistic bully's and the players would still get the blame.
-
Because it's the ultimate no lose situation which is about as attractive as it gets. They get a big chance of trophy's for the CV and because of the stigma created about Roman they get next to no blame if things go wrong. Jose left us fighting relegation yet walked into one of the biggest job in football. If he fucks up even half as badly with United his top level career will be over. I wish i could find a similar job were i will be portrayed as a genius if i do well and have no risk of damaging my reputation if i don't.

Player power is such an overhyped cliche. Admitedly Willian shouldn't have done what he did but it appears these days any player who doesn't unconditionally submit to managers are instantly dismissed as pondlife. It's just not how footy or the world in general works.
-
I don't see why that's a bad thing should it go that way, yes in an ideal world we will find our own Fergie but our sharpness in making changes when they aren't working is the next best thing and has probably won us half our trophys, if not more. You only need to look at Arsenal to see what damage clinging onto a manager due to past glory can do or look at United to see what clinging onto to manager's due to a misguided idea of stability can do. It may on the face of it be harsh sacking managers a year after a title win, but like with Carlo and Jose before him, all the evidence points to us getting worse if we keep Conte, not better, so it's best to get some fresh impotous in before things get really stale. We may have got a lot of things wrong down the years but the hire and fire policy isn't one of them.

Today was understandable but your right we need a new direction. Good way to leave on a high now we can remember his good times rather than the last few months.

It would be like picking Oscar over KDB all over again.
-
We attracted the young hungry players , but we never attracted a superstar bang in his prime and we tried (Ronaldinho, Deco, Vieri).
-
The reality is, at clubs players (especially the best one's) are 10× more important than manager's, it's harsh but it's true. Fergie was one of the very few real exceptions to the rule.
-
KDB dropped off last season in a similar way Hazard did this. And to expand on @Belgiannuttcomment re the systems, Hazard being as good as he has been for us is the equivalent of a defender being a rock for a Brendan Rodgers team.
-
Not even close to Costa, he looked like he never even played proffesionally before when he fell. Most games Hazard still gives us a threat even when below par, there's the odd game he was bad (Arsenal at home in the cup) but in general he is usually one of the best on both teams statistically atleast.
-
All season? He produced some of his best displays in a Chelsea shirt in the first half of this season. Even when he had in form Cesc, Costa and Mata before that he was still the main danger in attack.
-
I meant it's impossible to switch effort and attitude on and off and suddenly switch it on and be world class whenever you please. If Hazard had such attitude he would have gone down a Ballotelli esque path at best. Hazard"s only inconsistent if you are judging the consistency line at his very highest level, he's that good that even at 50% he's still most of our attack. Literally every interview i have ever seen from him he comes across as a great with excellent character, he evidently gets on well with his teammates and the few occasions he'a a sub he's always talking to his teammates having a laugh etc... Yet you get even a section of his own fanbase talking about him like we have Ballotelli mark 2.

It's a myth we use to miss out on targets.
-
You could say that with any player. I could probably even cherry pick moments were Kante didn't "look" bothered if i try hard enough, doesn't make it true. The reality is in such a high level of sport, if Eden was turning it off and on as he pleased he wouldn't be a quarter as good as he is, it's impossible to do such a thing while maintaining a world class level. If Hazard had that type of attitude he would have gone down the route of the likes of Taarabt, Nani, Ravel Morrison, Quaresma and be anywhere from Turkey to Mexico by now.
-
That's not true either. People seem to think him not being at his best equals can't be bothered.
-
Out of interest, what has made you (or any one else who thinks it) come to the conclusion Hazard has an uncontrollable ego and bad attitude?
-
England look like they are playing a back 3. In that case Young and Cahill are better picks than Bertrand and Tarkowski.
-
Ill go a step further, i don't think Spurs are great to watch atall. Them playing attacking football is a myth up there with Torres gives 100%.
-
Very much doubt it. We may have screwed up the KDB/Salah situation but no player from the academy has come back to haunt us.
-
We should have sold him while the hype was still going, now any potential buyer will be aware of Charly's true level and bid accordingly.
-
Compared to Levy we still look like our 2004 selves as far as the market is concerned
-
I would be a lot more confident starting the season with Jardim or Allegri than Conte. Given AC's actions this season keeping him is just as big a risk.
-
To put a bit of perspective on that argument. First half of 15/16 Willian was arguably in the form of his career while Hazard was beyond any doubt in his worst, yet they still averaged the same amount of key chances created per game and Willian had set pieces to aid his cause. Also Willian found himself out of favour during the best moments of form we have had since his arrival (first half of both title winning seasons) with Schurrle/Ramires and Pedro respectively preferred to him regularly. When Hazard's our in form player, he drags us over the line single handedly, when Willian is we still struggle despite his form. I like Willian and overall he's been good for us, but rating him higher than Hazard would be the equivalent of rating Cahill above Terry, it's an absolute no contest.

He wants to win the CL before he retires, if we can only offer him a long shot at it he will consider his options regardless of how he feels for the club. He has nothing left to prove loyalty wise, he came here in the first place when he could have wrote his own cheque at any club in Europe AND given us 6 years of service, that is a ridiculously long time in the modern day, especially for someone who had no prior connection to us.
