  1. Possibly because this era squad have always turned it on against Tottenham regardless of form running up to this game. We beat them comfortably in the midst of the worst part of the Sarri era. When Frank did the double over them we were on terrible form leading up to the game both times. We were pretty bad in December/January last season but despite that still beat them comfortably three times. We outplayed them in the reverse fixture despite performances before and after being bang average. So it would be pretty worrying if Potter can't even get us up for this one.
  2. We were 3 points off top four and "only" 11 points off the top based on the form table of Hiddinks time (and Hollands one game). Not great by any means but a big improvement from the Jose part of that season.
  3. If we stick to a back four permanently and (as we should) promote Colwill there's little room for him unless he goes on loan until Silva retires.
  4. I doubt it. Owners are not known to care about fans protests aslong as their doing it in the stadium (ie while paying them for the privilege). Only way to get their attention is for Stamford Bridge to be half empty.
  5. The ironic thing is with Fofana, James and Chilwell all fit and Enzo being our only productive CM 343 is probably our best formation for this.
  6. I wouldn't say Inter at that point was a middling job, far from it. His stock was at his absolute highest then so no chance he was accepting it if it was. I can accept the wish for Potter to leave I'm getting to that side myself but he absolutely has to be replaced with a manager with a track record with what we need right now.
  7. Then why couldn't he do it with United or get Spurs atleast in top four? (which has been done by them in every season bar the one's he's been there since 2016). His first stint was absolutely incredible but totally irrelevant in this context, the guy back then may aswell be a different person to the one to we see today. Roma he (looking at results) seems to be doing okay but still 18 points off the top and there's a reason he's back at "middling" jobs.
  8. I would rather even take a risk on a lower league manager than bring back Mourinho. He had a chance to prove he can build something sustainable last time and he done the total opposite (and since further proved at United and Spurs he can't do it). And this time he almost certainly won't even get us a short term title to somewhat make up for it. Thanks for the three titles but bringing him back now will absolutely ruin us.
  9. I'll accept I'm not the oracle and I get as much wrong as I do right but I find it genuinely staggering that grown adults think this is a good idea.
  10. He's already given that type of money to Reece. I'm sure if Mount was still performing like he did in 20/21 he'd get the same but the reality is he isn't.
  11. Oh please stop it. Have we learned nothing from not only his last time here but United and Spurs? I can already picture him fighting with Enzo and Mudryk, selling Colwill, overplaying an ageing Kante and an already knackered Mount while shoehorning Gallagher into the lineup as his token "look I play youth" card (like he did with McTominay and Tanganga).
  12. Surely we could put him on gardening leave until he finds a new job like we did with Robbie?
  13. While I do agree it's a different situation that should not be comparable I have to respectively call BS that the signs with Arteta were there from day one. His football in the first 12-18 months couldn't have been so far contrasting from Pep's if it tried to be, Arsenal were Burnley/Stoke level of a defensive shithouse team. Look at the two league games against us that season for example, they were camped in their own box for all bar the first 20-25 minutes of The Emirates game. Bar Saka he was not even playing the youth until Auba, Luiz and Willian breaking Covid protocol forced his hand. He loaned out Saliba (twice) in favour of keeping Rob Holding while Martenelli, Smith Rowe etc were lucky if they made the bench.
  14. Mourinho would genuinely destroy everything we're trying to do. As shit as Potter is being he will leave a good enough squad that plays relatively progressive football for the next coach.
  15. Hes now the only manager with an unbeaten home record after Mourinho and Hiddink returned and lost there's.
  16. Azpi will know him potentially very well so may not be in the frame of mind to play today (not that that's remotely important by comparison).
  17. The f**ked up thing is the way United fans and the media have been gushing over Ten Hag like he's Mou 1.0 I'm not even sure them winning it will be any less unbearable. And City succeeding where we failed in winning three in a row will be pretty sh*t aswell. Why couldn't there have been a Leicester option this season?
  18. Manchester United 1 Stoke 1: Jose Mourinho hails the United players for their best performance of the season so far – even though they only draw to the Potters https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/1896450/manchester-united-1-stoke-1-jose-mourinho-hails-the-united-players-for-their-best-performance-of-the-season-so-far-even-though-they-only-draw-to-the-potters/
  19. I absolutely cringe when I hear pundits say we need a number 9 to finish off all these chances. Almost as if we didn't use that exact logic two years ago for it to go spectacularly wrong.
  20. Got a nasty feeling Lukaku is getting another chance.
  21. Being club captain goes well beyond on the pitch. Even in worse case with injuries it can work.
  22. I think he could have if he/Betts really wanted too. Cavani gave up his number 7 for CR7 after the season has started. He may have to wear a different number in the UCL though crazy as it sounds. I remember when Carroll and Mkhi joined Pool and Arsenal respectively they had to wear a different number in Europe as their one was "cup tied" by the previous occupants.
  23. I was concerned they were going to replace those players pretty well (a concern made bigger when they signed Diaz and Konate) but they've set themselves back quite a bit with Nunez and Gapo.
  24. I'll give up my membership if he returns again. I fell for the "I'm coming back to build something" last time, won't be doing that again.
  25. Fairly certain he said the exact same thing about Bruno Guimaraes shortly before he left.
