  1. You would hope so but I'm a little worried given how close we came to selling him last summer. I would lose faith in the new manager instantly if it happens (unless they come out and explicitly state it was done over their head). I usually cringe at the Salah/KDB references whenever we're linked with selling an U25 but it would be fully justified here.
  2. Carlo (who many want back) and Emery also did.
  3. I'm slightly paranoid we're going to sell Colwill as he could probably command around £60m now he's 'proven' at this level.
  4. He's not my first choice but I would blame the culture at Spurs more than him.
  5. Almost every even remotely decent source basically say Boehly is at best a second in command to Eghbali these days (I say at best because from what I can gather he's one of those bosses where being a second in command to him may aswell be an employer). Even if this story that "broke" in the sun (ffs) was true he'd have to get it past Eghbali, a bloke who ground Rui Costa down in negotiations would okay something Corden suggested? Sound plausible!
  6. He (hopefully) won't be here long enough. I remember the early stages last time (which conned me into thinking he was a top manager in waiting) his express yourself vibes type of plan actually hit a perfect sweetspot with Sarri's training still fresh in the memory. For all Potter's faults we were looking pretty good building up in the first 2/3rds pretty much since Fulham away so i'm hoping for a similar sweetspot again. But yeah it can't be a full time gig even if we win the UCL as eventually we will end up in the same position as late 2020/early 2021.
  7. There was no possibility at this point. We'd have had to pick up less than 3 points from now till the end while seven teams suddenly found form that's been escaping them all season. It would have taken a totally unprecedented run of results, even with Potter.
  8. We had JT here in 15/16 and Thiago Silva here this season. If the problem we need a character to throw their weight around we wouldn't have got in this mess in the first place.
  9. At the time I tried to convince myself it was signs Lampard had potential as a great coach but given how the football turned to shit post lockdown it was clearly true.
  10. I could see the logic in the short term maybe. Lampard's express yourself ball worked quite well while Sarri's training was still in the muscle memory of the players. For all of Potter's faults he had us defending well on the whole and we were starting to see some really good build up play in the first 2/3rd so hopefully we may see a similar sweetspot now. They'll probably still be some bits of Tuchel's training still there too so even better. The problem is if he does have a succesful interim spell the crowd will pressure the board into making him permanent and I wouldn't be surprised if they do it, so when the inevitable 'muscle memory' from previous coaching wades off and we start playing like Stoke again (like we did post lockdown) we're back to the exact same problems of early 2021, with a toxic split fanbase of one's who can let sentiment go vs one's that can't and probably a section of the fanbase who can't or won't warm to the new boss because he's not Frank.
  11. I thought Pirlo ruining Juve's domination would have stopped this sort of nonsense.
  12. There always seems to be this weird desperation to move technically skilled deeper players further up because they're being "wasted".
  13. I like Badiashille but Colwill is on another level to him, the later with Fofana if all goes well is elite and then some. Fully agree re Sterling, i'd like us to try the system of Nkunku/Felix as a false 9 with him playing on the defenders shoulders.
  14. He also laid down the law to Messi yet despite that the Argentine considers him in top 2 of all his coaches (Pep obviously the other).
  15. Prime Eidur Gudjohnsen would be beyond perfect for us, not sure who if anyone is in a similar mould today.
  16. What's even more crucial is we don't panic and wait if we can't find a suitable one, from what I've seen Nkunku will be more than good enough if need be. Signing another Lukaku or worse giving the guy himself another chance will just be another huge step back.
  17. With Fofana, James, Chilwell, Kante if he resigns, Enzo and assuming we're not stupid enough to sell him Colwill is a genuine elite foundation to build on.
  18. With Enrique we get the best of both worlds, someone who's handled the pressure to win and overachieved having to get the best out of what he's got. Also if the situation with his contract can't get resolved Enrique at the club may give us a genuine chance of poaching Gavi.
  19. For anyone who says Enrique's only good job is Barca, he got a Celta Vigo side who had little to no money and just avoided relegation by a point as a newly promoted side the year before to 9th. Would be the equivalent of someone doing likewise with Bournemouth or Forest next season.
  20. I agree in general but Sporting Lisbon are an absolutely massive club.
  21. Klopp won't come to us even if he leaves, he's by all accounts one of those snobs who want clubs with "history".
  22. Not to mention his woeful record in Europe. We'd effectively be throwing away the UCL pedigree this group have got if we rehire him. I wouldn't have him back anyway out of principal (will never forgive his behaviour in the last months) but that is a huge red flag also.
  23. He was hardly penny pinching, over 200m and two and a half years it took to even match Emery's league finish via two 8th place positions which was lower than Wenger even at his most washed up fell, all while playing eye bleeding football akin to Stoke City and despite such tactics they weren't even solid at the back either, that's how Emi Martinez got so much exposure so quickly to allow for a big money move. Up until this season he was by almost every metric a downgrade on Emery and even the 2011 onwards Wenger we were all laughing at, especially attacking wise.
