Forum turned shit as it usually does before the preseason starts. Quality has improved a lot in the last 2 weeks and it will keep improving. I've been really enjoying in the last couple of days. What I don't get is why does RDM insist on playing through balls to Lukaku like in the 1st game like he is Torres? He's a big lad, bomb some crosses in try to do something. Even against MLS, Lukaku was leaving the box to receive the ball and then failed at some 1-2 pass.

You know mate, here's the thing. Yes, there is some overrating going on, but most of fans in the world do that. We have brought in some young players with bags of potential and most people forget the difficulties these players need to overcome here when they come. New country, city, language, teammates, private life changes, pressure, fitness...it's difficult to start performing right away. Yes, some people do it, but they are rare. You need some time to get it all sorted and for this new life to start feeling as the normal one. Naturally, there is a disappointment when a couple of bad games happen with all these difficulties and lots of times, people overreact. Who knows, perhaps Hazard won't turn out to be as good as the whole world expect him to be. It's a very difficult thing, but you have to be something much better then a mediocre footballer to archive what he has in France with Lille. Marin? Give the lad some time, he doesn't have an impressive season behind him and needs to get a good run of games. De Bruyne? Yes, he is young and he will probably go out on loan. He is a promising player on already high level and for the money we brought him in, it was a great buy. It also helps to have a few Belgians in the squad that can be beneficial both on and off the pitch.

I never said we couldn't find a backup goalie, but it's pointless to do it when we have 2 backups already, 1 youngster and 1 great GK we can call back. And it's not really easy like you say to convince a good GK to come to Chelsea when we have Cech. The question of the topic is DO WE NEED a backup? At the moment no. Are Ross and Hilario good enough to replace Cech if he's injured? No, but if Cech gets injured, we can recall Thibaut back and give him a chance.

Lovely, he's prefers to play in the middle while we already have Hazard, Mata and Oscar eyeing the CAM position. Hasn't impressed me on this pre season so far, though he had a few of his moments. Ability and talent are there.

I'm not a massive fan of him when he plays deep but he is decent. Slow on the ball which is a big minus, but he is also reliable while his work rate is great. His presence on the pitch is also important since he lifts up team mates, takes our FKs, corners and pens...I feel this should be his last season unless he is ready to accept a lesser role and warm the bench more. He certainly has a role to play for the upcoming season. He had a nice game against MLS.
