  1. Andre Villas-Boas will take his flagging Chelsea players on a five-day trip to Majorca next week designed to boost team morale. Villas-Boas has been given permission by his bosses at Stamford Bridge to take the players on a mid-season team-bonding trip to the same destination favoured by legendary Derby, Leeds and Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough, who referred to the Spanish island as his ‘branch office’. The Portuguese is keen to shield his squad ahead of next weekend’s powderkeg FA Cup fourth-round tie against neighbours QPR. Chelsea captain John Terry faces criminal charges and an ongoing FA investigation following an alleged racial insult towards QPR defender Anton Ferdinand last year. Chelsea will head back to London after their Barclays Premier League match against Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday lunchtime and fly to Majorca. Although Villas-Boas is imposing strict training schedules on his players for schedules on his players for the duration of their break, there will be down time. He wants to use the trip to improve relations between his players and members of the management team after yet another turbulent season at Stamford Bridge. It will also give new signing Gary Cahill the opportunity to integrate with the squad. The players will train at least once a day and will be under a strict 11pm lights-out curfew. Chelsea have a midweek break because of the Carling Cup semi-finals and do not play again until their west London derby with Mark Hughes’s side on Saturday week. 2. Am I the only one liking when the camera is filming from above ? It would be cool if they do the same thing in EPL.
  3. After Pepe's stomp on Messi, it's Coentrao who is pulling Messi's hair. lol
  4. Pépé is a shame for Football.
  5. This is like the last time. Real are leading early in the game thanks to the Barça goalkeeper's mistake, and then they are totaly out-played. I will be very surprised if Barça doesn't score at least once.
  6. Two on-side whistled as offside against Barça, in a row.
  7. Bloody hell, I thought that was this week-end Thanks LDN !
  8. Well, first of all, it isn't that he can't play at this position at all, but he wouldn't be as good as some people think he would be. Of course, he could play there once or twice if all our Holding Midfielders are out. The main reason for which some people want Luiz to play as a Midfielder, it is because he does make his well-known runs forward. But the truth is, if he is played as a Midfielder, he won't be able to make these runs. If he is capable of making such runs, this is because he is a defender, and when you are a defender, you never have an opponent to chase you down. Indeed, the other team's players are already busy with your fellows playing in midfield and in attack. Thereby, Luiz is able to reach the opponent's box without facing any resistance, and he has a clear way. So, if he was playing as a defensive midfielder, he couldn't do that, because he would permanently have a player on his back to press him. Furthermore, I don't know if you have noticed, he always starts to run from his own 30 yards, he thus reaches the opposition with a fair amount of speed... If he was playing in midfield, he obviously wouldn't be able to make that. And what is very interesting with him playing in defense, is that he can help out the midfield to break the opposition's defense by outnumbering their midfield/defense. Considering the actual context, i.e. our midfield's inability to create things, this help from our very own SideShow Bob is welcomed. Once again, he wouldn't have this effect if he was playing in midfield. Finally, a Defensive Midfielder has to sit back to help out with the defensive duties. Makelele was doing this, Busquest does this, as Romeu and Mikel. I am not really sure he has the discipline to do this. You could argue if he hasn't the discipline to be a DM, he neither can be a CB. But, when he leaves out his position, there's Ivanovic who slides to the axis, and Mikel/Romeu staying near Terry. Well, I hope to have been understandable, lol.
  9. And the Legend saying Luiz is a Defensive Midfielder comes up again.
  10. This is an opportunity for their kids to play in one of the best and one of the most modern academy of this country. Every parents out there would love this happening for their own kid(s). Wouldn't your parents be happy if the best University of your country would come knock to your to door in order to offer you a place in their ranks ?
  11. The contingency plan is to sell him with Drogba this summer.
  12. If my memory serves my right, I did never play at RB, only at LB. And yes this Benfica fan told that.
  13. If Pelé had shut his big mouth, Neymar would be our player at the moment...
  14. He doesn't have a buy-out clause. Lille want to get €40m from his sale, they've claimed it. That being said, I am agree with your post.
  15. First off, I don't think we have ever - in recent time - signed a player instantly. Plus, We were ready to splash £40m on Modric, and some £30m on a 18 years-old kid, so it may not means that Roman wanted them "urgently", but that proves we truly wanted them.
  16. *cough*Modric*cough*Neymar*cough*
  17. No no, it was in general. Luiz is our best defender at the moment. Over the past six months, he has made less mistakes than Terry, Bosingwa, Cole or Ivanovic. People keep focus on the odd one or two mistake Luiz does in a game because those mistakes are what we can label as "silly". For instance, he loses the ball when trying to dribble. Hence I would say they are more "noticable" than what other defenders could make. While Cole, Terry and co, make what we can call "normal" mistakes, i.e. they are beaten easely by their opponent, and similar stuff. So it doesn't look silly, but somehow normal, and thus we don't mind them. And yes Luiz is prone to make one spectacular mistake in almost every game. But what he brings to our side amply makes up for the mistake(s) he makes. And seriously, you can't lump Luiz and Bosingwa in the same group. While the first man makes one or two spectacular mistakes in a game which seldom (this is for you LDN ) cost us a goal, the last man makes countless mistakes which are often sanctionned by a goal. And as I said above, Luiz brings a lot to the squad, while Bosingwa brings us strictly nothing.
  18. Lord, even Chelsea fans think Luiz is a liability.... Media's propaganda is effective, isn't it ?
  19. I've said I was confident that we will give Kalouda a contract extension because we won't get him.
  20. I am pretty confident about this deal. We'll give Kalouda a three years extension after we fail to land him.
  21. Maybe it's Schweinsteiger's chinese brother
