The point of the academy is not only to create world-class players. The players you have mentioned were certainly not enough good to become the next big thing and be in our starting XI. But some of them would probably become good squad players, like Brown and O'Shea were for United, and like Jonny Evans is. Hence instead of having squad players of the likes of Ferreira, Meireles and Kalou who are on a £60k-a-week wage, we could have had Macienne, Sinclaire and Sotch who would be on a lesser wage and who would make our home-grown and english-player quota better.

As Eldo has mentioned, when Mata has set him a good pass, he has fallen... Secondly, if you don't move around and try to find some space, nobody will give you a good pass.
