Hi All, Got an assignment in soon for my Sports Journo course at uni, and we have to do a feature on an event from 50 years ago; 1961. Chosen to do the 1961 FA Youth Cup final (which chelsea won ) but have struggled to find too much info on it, other than wiki's team line up. Maybe aimed at some of the older members of the forum, but does anyone have an info about the final, maybe in some old Chelsea books or anything. Bit of a wild request maybe but i thought it'd be worth a shot, considering a lot of the older boys on here have a lot of CFC knowledge. I've emailed Rick Glanvill but he just hasnt replied so I'm drawing up new places to search for information haha. ANOTHER request, part of this feature is interviewing someone who had something to do with the final, i.e. someone that played. If anyone has any contact details for any ex-Chelsea players, who played in the final, even an email address, this would be VERY helpful. Again, perhaps a wild request, but definately worth a shot. Anybody that can help, i will be very grateful Tom

I Was Just Wondering If This Would Ever Happen Again
BomTrett replied to Henrique's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Lay off Ferreira, he was ace that season and was our best Right-Back at the club until Ivanovic went into that role. (perhaps that isnt saying much about the right backs we've had at Chelsea over the last few years) But i rate him over bosingwa, and making 200 appearances for Chelsea a great achievement. Paulo Ferreira -
If the Mohawk keeps them both scoring like last night, i'll get one hahah

Any news on the away kit anyone? Apologies for the impromtu question haha, just curious haha

My whole family (on my dads side) have always been Chelsea fans, it was a natural thing for me to support Chelsea and have been wearing Chelsea kits since i was born. Still have nothing but love for the club, and i'll support them forever.

Some good valid points being made here. I hate the idea that he should be sacked because of this season, and the lack of silverware. I hate that thought with any manager brought into this club theres that sort of target on their head should they not win silverware. Far enough if its a couple of seasons without success and the team is playing poorly, but Carlo came to Chelsea last year and won the double, and the community shield to add to that. Amazing feat from a manager who had never managed in england before. Incredible from Carlo, and a manager we finally thought would be at chelsea for years. And yet we come to this point where people doubt him and think he should be out! In all honesty the TEAM have played poor this season, and thats why Chelsea have performed below par. Essien, Drogba, Anelka, Malouda, Lampard.. the list goes on, these key players have under-performed and as a result, we havent been brilliant. The summer will be a perfect time for things to be rethought, who to bring in/ who to play. Also to ask questions, best formation, key roles in the team. It shouldnt be a time for new manager speculation. In Carlo we trust... pains me to see people doubting him.

Gigi Salmon rapes journalist on Chelsea TV
BomTrett replied to Bir_CFC's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
My love for this woman has just increased so much. So much respect for that. She was quite happy to put on him on the spot and he squirmed like a little twat. Gigi, on behalf of everyone here, we salute you! The fact she put in the lil dig about him being a spurs fan as well. Genius HERO. -
Which team do you support after we are knocked out?
BomTrett replied to ack17's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Honestly dont care who wins, as long as it isnt Man U. Wouldnt mind Schalke, as the underdog lol -
Not that i agree with anything else that has been said in this post, but JT is still our best defender, and is not the sort of player that will be thinking of being rested to prolong his career. He'll play until he cant play anymore, and he should stay in our team. True, he's lost his pace, and that seems to be something that is deteriating with age, but he's still our best defender, he reads the game well enough where pace isnt always an issue because he times his tackles right and the opposition dont often go past him. I'm not like a narrow-minded Chelsea fan who believes they should both be automatically starting because they are who they are, but at the end of the day JT has still got a couple more years in the starting XI in him. With David Luiz he creates a good partnership, because luiz has pace and is a fairly, more attacking carvalho-esque player. And i hope this isnt perceived as off-topic, because i'm talking about JT but i feel the point still needed to be made. As well the fact, that if not Lampard, who else you gonna bring in? We float around these big money names and expect to just plonk them in the centre of our midfield and expect them to do wonders, but at the end of the day thats not true. And to say Lampard was our worst player last night?! Wow. I was watching a different game altogether, because from the game i was watching he, and Ramires was the best two players in that first half. And even aside the fact he perhaps didnt make too much impact in the 2nd half he most definately wasnt our worst player. Taking him out of the team would be a mistake, he's struggled this season with injury and its obviously had its effect, but if you want to chuck players out of the team that have underperformed this season, then Roman's gonna have to open up his cheque book because at least 7-8 players have had a pretty bad season. And the debate with young players will always rumble on but throwing McEachran straight into our first team would also be a mistake. I agree wholeheartedly that he needs much more playing time, but as a sub maybe, yeah. Apologies if this is seen as a rant

Will Piazon Stand Out at Stamford Bridge ?
BomTrett replied to Fulham Broadway's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I gave it a read, and i thought it was a decent article. I guess we've taken a gamble and hopefully he'll come good. I just dont wanna see another Di Santo, tall and strong as a youngster looking good, but cant really cut it at Wigan. We keep the faith though -
Adidas are a bit, i suppose quirky, so its expected they'll do something with the kit that raises a few eyebrows at first, i.e. the white shoulder bits. But i do really like this kit, and think it looks good on the players! And the goalkeeper kit, a fucking relief its not flouro, or 'slime' coloured, its normal! White and ....er, maroon? Oh well!

Cech Ivanovic ---Alex---Terry---Cole Ramires---Essien---Lampard Anelka---Torres----Malouda If Alex isn't fit, i'd play Essien at RB, Ivanovic CB and stick Mikel in. Dont think Benayoun is ready for a game of that calibre, unless he plays most of the game against wigan and plays amazing. Definately on the bench though, ready to be creative if he comes on. We've missed him, as we could tell with our non-existant midfield from the other night. Zhirkov seemed to bottle his chance and when malouda and anelka came on we started to look a bit more dangerous. I would love nothing more for us to go to them and beat the bastards, knock them out of the CL and possibly go on to play Schalke
-
The only way i wanna see him at Chelsea is when we play QPR next season, should he still be there.. Dont want him anywhere near our team, he rips up the championship, but in the PL he wouldnt cut it. He's skilful but selfish, and thats the sort of player that doesnt belong in our team. 8 million, no thanks

Hi everyone, just like to make a small announcement.. I just ate two bits of toast, and it was like the craziest thing that has ever happened. It had butter and all that sort of shit, and took like 3 minutes to toast, but it was like, well worth the wait. The first bit of toast i rate a 9, but the second was slightly burnt so i'd say 7. I was wearing my magic toast bracelet so i'm considering buying some more bread... Even if that was true i'm sure no-one would give a fuck WHY the fuck, would you come onto a forum, and discuss something that no-one here honestly gives a shit about. I could guarantee that people will be more interested in toast after reading this forum than your love life. Unbelievable Yours sincerely, Fuck Off.

Would be a great kit, wasnt completely convinced by the horizontal stripe rumour that was floating around but that makes it look decent. That definately looks fake though haha, just the way the bottom stripes look, one even looks like its going off the shirt slightly, like someones drawn the box on a shirt haha

Lampard considers international retirement
BomTrett replied to Wilson's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Even with 'the younger generation' coming through into the England Squad, i dont feel this should be a reason for Lamps to retire. But i think he gets treated like shit for England, never gets the recognition he deserves. So i hope he does retire, and when Capello starts that mug Wilshere in midfield, and he struggles, we'll all be singing 'Super Frank' appreciating one of the best midfielders in the world -
Wouldnt mind pinstripes on the home kit, I think if it was done well it could look good. We DEFINATELY need a yellow away kit, some of our best away kits were yellow and the FA Cup Final shirt (which offensively was a 3rd kit) was a great kit. As for 3rd kit, we all fear Adidas going into their colour palette and drawing out something, shiny, flourescent, or just plain fuck ugly. Would much prefer something very simple. White or Black preferably. Cant think of many other colours which would look good. Middleoftheshed got it spot on with his mock ups Would love to see an inspired shirt, something that resembles/is based on an older kit. 1974/75 3rd kit anyone?

Rio Ferdinand Wayne Rooney Paul Scholes Craig Bellamy El Hadji Diouf Stephen Hunt Steven Gerrard Jamie Carragher Xabi Alonso Javier Mascherano Cesc Fabregas Scott Parker Wayne Bridge AND OF COURSE... Gary Neville.

Nice to have a bit of a flair player and a right winger. Probs wont happen though. Romans giving all his money to Russia probs haha.
-
Would be a decent signing for Chelsea. 6 million i'm not so sure about, but god knows we need a midfielder with a bit of creativity to add to our squad.
-
We need a central defender, bad. If this is true, I would be happy to see him join us. Depends how much he would cost though i guess..
