Lifted this off another forum, but can't help but feel it's applicable here.Their cavalier approach to tearing down and rebuilding the squad (and the club for that matter), is what has led us here. Maybe given more time, it will pay off, but who knows what that means for success on the pitch.
My suspicion is that they are trying to run Chelsea the same way they ran the Dodgers. In the first couple of years under Boehly, the Dodgers invested wildly and unsustainably into their team, were hit with financial penalties, paid them, and won the World Series. Move fast and break things. In baseball, a much more individualistic sport than football, high levels of squad churn doesn't really matter if you're fielding better pitchers and better hitters than you had last year. Team chemistry and tactics are much less important than the raw ability of the players. In football, not so much. -

Ugarte would have meant no Lavia, not us not buying Caicedo
hopefully it is a wash
Lavia is also 3 or so years younger
time will tell

I would give it a 9
Had we sold/loaned cucu and chalobah and extended maatsen then it would be a 10

The highlight for me is the sheer number of high wage older players we've replaced with younger versions on lower wages who are better than those they replaced. But there have been loads of highlights tbh, finding Nicolas Jackson for a bargain price for example.
We did fumble Ugarte (which probably would have led to us not having to panic buy Caicedo for £115m) and I think we pretty clearly ignored the main thing Poch was asking for (experienced players to mix in with the youth, especially in midfield). We are still in a slightly dubious situation up front if NJ gets injured, and we didn't get rid of all of the players on the deals we wanted but of course that relies on other clubs.
Still a solid 8/10 tbh super optimistic about what these directors + Poch will achieve after several years of squad building, finally feels like we might be on a long term path to reach City's level and displace them if they fumble.

Solid 8 for transfer window for me. Highlights are getting rid of the players that didn't want to be here and slashing our current wage bill.

From the ones we bought this summer only angry with Sanchez (mugged by Brighton again) and Disasi, rest look good.

He should have replaced Sangare in PSV and play CL for example.

Kinda did what would normally take 3 or more windows in 1. Not completed all that was needed to do but wasnt ever realistic in one window. Biggest positives Poch, shifting some expensive deadwood, beating scousers twice to najor targets,Keeping Colwill on LTD,Caicedo,Jackson,Palmer,Lavia,Petrovic looks a find, not personally against any of our additions.
Negatives-Some departures that are more talented than some we couldnt move out.mainly Hall,Casadei,Santos.
Looking forward to finding out over the next few months who Poch really likes..not so much cloak and dagger in press cons with the window now closed.

Santos loan to Forest is a disaster from so many levels

Disasi is better than Chalobah. Defensively and WAY better on the ball. He can actually pass through the lines unlike Trev.

If you think this was a 6 then how are you rating the past ~10 years of transfer windows? All under 3 I assume?

Don’t really think it is a big deal tbh. Certainly doesn’t undo the otherwise excellent window. Cucu situation is Tuchel mistake we cannot unwind easily, rest is a matter of selling players at the right time for the right money and we didn’t find the opp yet but it will come, there are always more transfer windows. Also can’t force players to go to places they don’t want to at times they don’t want to.
Think the club has done really well tbh the situation was just immensely hard and they will over time get it into an amazing state but the directors who started to join from December really inherited a disgraceful state of affairs and they’ll need time to fully unwind that

Can't give this window more than 6 despite all the good things we did. The fact we wasted 40m on Disasi who is barely even better than Chalobah and after failed to move Chalobah is a joke.

I’d give that window a very nice 8.5/10.
Did just about all we were asking the club to do after that horror season. Cleared out the vast majority of the deadwood who had no fight, rebuilt the midfield completely and with better players than we were even hoping for, moved past the Kepa era. Signed ourselves a gem of a striker for a bargain price.
If we had managed to move just a few more unwanted players and had moved for an attacking player much earlier rather than at the death it would’ve been a 10/10 window.

Casadei looked really good. Would still say a loan is best and Leicester seems a great option. Let him play 30+ games even if it’s at Championship level and he can come back for 24-25 when we’ll hopefully have League and Europe to contend with

Well, Arsenal are no longer the nation's hoof ballers.
I think this team is better than Wenger's good team.

If we spent so much on Rice, would've been so angry, what a bang average player, English hype is absolutely disgusting.

City won't be matching Arsenal's bid for Rice, they have pulled out

tttysbbsa reacted to Pizy in Chelsea Transfers
£105m for Rice just feels mind blowing. I rate him and would take him at Chelsea but that’s just an insane price for someone whose only elite attribute is his work rate. Not an elite passer, not a great goal scorer, not really a player who can dictate an entire match with the ball at his feet.
Feels like smart scouts could find 15 DM’s around Europe that can do Rice’s job just as well. He’s a very good player but doesn’t seem like a special player like our £100m midfielder does.
Can you imagine what a prime, early 20’s Kante would cost in this market if he were moving from a small PL club to a big one in 2023? 😳😳😳

When the new owners came in part of the employment culling was the scouting set up.
Some of our best scouts ended up at Liverpool and Man City - with Clownlake deciding to rely more on data driven info for players.
