  1. Emery beat us playing his football. He didn't adapt. His players were up for it and ours embarrassingly weren't. He hasn't once changed his system. Valencia and Villareal have forever been progressive clubs. Never have they reverted to park the bus and counter, that isn't their culture. Benfica the same. If anything, they will try and press us, which will ultimately give us space to exploit. I remember two chances that could of buried the game. Kante's shot and Pedro's poor decision to pass it instead of shooting it after that run by Hazard.
  2. I can't see Benfica or Napoli/Arsenal sit back and play on the counter the way United have. City in the LC Final was the perfect example of our players being up for it, and the opposition leaving space to exploit. I'm not saying that we will indefinitely win the EL now that our eggs are in the basket, just that inspite of our players flaws, many of them raise their game when the stakes are high.
  3. I have. And I'm still adamant in saying that we will up our game in Europa with the factors I've mentioned. Teams will be more open All eggs in Europa basket Mentality in cup competitions > in the league
  4. Probably because we struggle against teams that sit back. We've been scoring for fun in Europa because we exploit how adventurous teams are against us. Not to mention if we bring that same mentality there like we saw against City, i'll take our chances.
  5. I'd keep him for another year. Not entirely convinced of Tammy
  6. I think the players will be up for it. Especially now given all the eggs are in the basket for Europa league. Inspite the many flaws, this team is well and truly a cup team. This would be the 4th final in 3 years.
  7. Too much baggage. As good as he is, it won't be worth it. Especially seeing his wife's mug in the stands.
  8. Gourlay leaving had a bigger impact. Especially in how we approached the transfer market.
  9. Danny Drinkwater cost the club 30 million, and since his last professional appearance, he's earned almost 5 million quid. Safe to save the board could get the club relegated and their job security would still be as strong as ever. No. A new owner that will clean house is the only way I see them actually getting the sack.
  10. @Special Juan You genuinely unlocked a thread, replied to my comment to get the final word, then locked it again. Grow up.
  11. Like I said, he isn't a top keeper. Far from it. Has a lot of growing to do. However, he is the least of our problems. Wouldn't even call him a problem.
  12. Going to need a top CB in the summer. Just another position to add to the list. We really are a shambles.
  13. Still here and still stating the issues are more than Sarri. From the owner, to the board, to the manager, to the players.
  14. No. I am saying the deeper issue are the players. You can bring any manager here, but if we still have the current crop, the same issues will arise. We used to go deep in the Champions League every season. There is a reason we are doing incredibly poor and that stems from our players. I'd like Sarri to get a chance, but if you can guarantee me that if we sack Sarri, the likes of Alonso, Willian, Pedro, Zappacosta, Drinkwater, etc will all fuck off. I'll press that button right now.
  15. Bielsa is insane. Mourinho 2.0 in how players get sick of him. Give Leeds 1-2 more seasons before they are fed up with him.
  16. No he wouldn't. As Alonso, Willian, Drinkwater, Azpilicueta, Pedro are still starting for us.
  17. Zidane's football is deprived of direct football played from the wing. We have no direct attackers and we have no proper full backs. We also have a team with zero end product. Tell me, how is Zidane supposed to flourish with such a side? And please don't say, by playing youth.
  18. Getting so tedious now with this shite. I've defended him for a while, but not anymore
  19. Chelsea FC. Where we relish incompetence. The job security of the Chelsea board must be lifetime. Truly. Such incompetence and no one has lost their job. The Drinkwater signing alone deserved a sacking.
  20. Zidane will do fuck all with this team. Mad how you can't see the utter dross at our disposal. We are genuinely 5 or 6 signings from competing again. And even then we are full of deadweight.
  21. As if Willian will start banging them in and Alonso will turn into Roberto Carlos. Appointing Zidane will do fuck all if the likes of Alonso, Willian, Pedro, Luiz, Zappacosta, and Drinkwater are still playing at this club.
  22. The board see Willian more valuable than 60 million and see Alonso as an important player.
  23. Let's appoint another manager and have the same hasbeens starting for us.
  24. The frustrating thing is, even if Sarri is sacked, the same players will be here, and there is zero trust in the board to replace them when they are rejecting 60 million bids for Willian! I think there's no harm in saying this club won't compete for top honors for a while.
