Why do we continue to play out the back when we're pressed? Why don't we play long balls?

Anyone else think this guy would be the perfect upgrade for Alonso in the LWB role? With Wolfsburg struggling, I think he's attainable. Quick, pacy, direct and can put in a mean cross. He sometimes struggles defensively but it wouldn't be that big of an issue playing in a 3-4-3 system. I think Cahill and Alonso are two players that need upgrading at the end of the season, potentially even Matic and Pedro as well (I just don't completely trust them).

Sorry, rubbish was a harsh word and I shouldn't have dismissed your opinion like that. I just strongly disagree. It takes something extraordinary for a 'small team' to win the highly sought after trophies and it happens once every blue moon. Clubs well resourced will almost always prevail. They just spend until it eventually works. Also disagree with United only having a sprinkling of superstar players. United were stacked with talent. I also think City will win the league by 7+ points.

I thought he played well. Should've had a brace (or at least one). Instead of replacing Pedro we should replace Willian.

He will be fine. He will get a decent break in before the next game at home. I feel like most of our team were conserving their energy today. We were very lackluster.

This is rubbish. The team with the best players is almost always going to win trophies in their respective leagues. How often do teams outside of Barcelona/Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus, Man City/Chelsea/United/Arsenal, Bayern Munich, etc. win the league? How often do they win the CL? Money brings in the best talent and the best talent wins you trophies. You can put whatever spin you want on it but the reality is 11 world class players are going to defeat 11 hard working players 9 times out of 10. In my opinion you can carry one or two honest battlers, not seven or eight, as you're suggesting. Also, Real Madrid have won two out of the last three CL and are on top of La Liga, if it's not working for them then I'd like to know your definition of 'working'.

A few things: - Verratti is a very physical midfielder. His tackling is exceptional and he is a massive presence in the middle. - Matic's aerial ability is awful. He may as well be 5 ft 10. - Verratti can do everything Matic does + more. Would be a huge upgrade. - Kante and Verratti would be one of the best midfield partnerships in the world.

Am I reading that correctly?

I have a lot of confidence in this guy. He's a beast. At the start of the season he was looking sharper than Costa and always looked very dangerous. He made an impact with limited opportunity. Now I think lack of playing time could have perhaps made him a bit rusty (as evident against West Ham), but I believe if he has to take Costa's spot for a couple of games he will do a great job.

They are starting to form a formidable partnership. They will only get better from here.

We don't often lose our best players when we have wanted to keep them. Costa will return to Atletico one day but aren't they banned for the next transfer window?
