Nice. That's two starts in a row. Only thing is he's been playing as a centre forward. But at least he's playing I guess.
-
Sick. 9 goals and 9 assists in 18 games for City. Someone forgot to tell him English football is supposed to be a lot more strenuous and difficult. I think it's fair to say going to Wolfsburg was a pretty good idea.
-
Ramires and Cahill signing such long term contracts at 28/29. Preparing for the worst? Good squad player.
-
True. Fabregas is far more incisive with his passing, takes a lot of risks. He is better when it comes to delivering the final pass, forgot to mention that. They're different types of players.
-
Gundogan's the better passer imo. Cesc's the superior long passer but when it comes to short passing and one-touch passing, I think Ilkay has him beat. And he's much better than Cesc when it comes to passing under pressure and disguising his passes. Gundogan is easily more skillful as well. Never happening though if you ask me. I wouldn't be surprised to see him holding up a Barca shirt in the summer.

His problem is in his mind, not his body. He serves as a decent example that playing in a high line or with less protection and cover is less about physicality and more about tactical understanding and speed of thought. Pique for example is anything but athletic. He possesses the turning speed of a Russian tank, isn't flexible and it takes him a minute before he reaches top speed but he's completely comfortable high up. Pepe used to be a great athlete but was never the best high up.

Tough to pick an XI for Europe. Today I'll go for this. XI based on best in position. If you ask me to make a real team, it becomes difficult. Europe has killer depth. Neuer Lahm Boateng Chiellini Alba Marchisio Busquets Iniesta Robben Lewandowski Ronaldo Bravo Alves Silva Godin Luis Vidal Mascherano James Messi Suarez Neymar 2-3 SA's front three making the difference. 2-3 because that's more fun than 1-2. Both teams with a fair chance of winning though.
-
The defending is utterly horrific. The goalkeeping is even worse. Yup, I've said the same before. Three seasons at least if you ask me. Let him truly outgrow the Eredivisie at the very least because the level of the league is very low.
-
Two of those shots/goals include the two penalties he converted. Not trying to spoil the fun but it reminded me of how deceptive stats can be. I hope he stays at Vitesse for more than a while. He still has a lot to learn. Talented kid. Preferably with his buddy Baker as I'm sure that helped a lot in settling down, for the both of them.

I need to get me this job.

There's not some switch you can turn on to get out of a mess like this. Improvement will be gradual and it will take a while. Our situation is what it is. Deal with it. Besides, an in form Chelsea could have lost at WHL. At least 11 points from the next 5 games would be a great step forward.
-
Technically, you're correct. But that's today reality, man. This was a very good point. Against one of the in form sides in the PL as well.
-
I will gladly take that point. On the ball... I won't say much. But off the ball this was so much better. Nullified Spurs in the second half. Clean sheet. Third in a row. Win the next three home games and draw away against Leicester and Utd and things will look much better.

Stop lying, Tomo. We know boring. Have enjoyed a good dose of it in the past 10 years.

Academy day!
-
I guess we disagree. I haven't seen good football today.
-
How wrong was I? Thought one team would score between 45-55 min and goals would flow. Two, three goals. Poor game. Sloppy passing and constant mistakes can lead to an entertaining game but this one is quite dull. Three clean sheets in a row?
-
Disagree. The pace and bit of swerve in Kane's cross was exceptional, perfect height. Felt like a big smack. Oscar's cross was fantastic. With his weaker foot as well. But it was a bit too high and not as much pace. Technically Kane's cross was perfect.
-
What about that Kane cross though? Talk about a perfect cross. One in a hundred from him of course but that was amazing. Thankful Son didn't convert.
-
Both teams have been poor imo. Tottenham has been better in possession. Chelsea's passing has been dreadful. Maybe that's why he said that. EDIT: Shots and shots on target also in Spurs' favour.
-
Poor football, good physicality. Midfield wasn't overrun, that alone is a massive improvement. The team looks fit. Willian suprisingly quiet. Fabregas becomes quite useless when it's a physical game. At least the score is level. But there's no doubt in my mind that there will be goals in this game.
-
What the heck? That was unexpected. I wonder who'll be the actual #9. Djilobodji on the bench!!!
-
Prove me wrong, Chels. I'll take the entire squad to McDonald's if they get the W.
-
He started off great imo. After very strong performances at Euro 2012 he joined Barca and his first season was very good. Second season was poor, didn't look very fit but that went for most players. An off year for Barca. 14/15 he was better than ever. He has a great understanding with Neymar.
-
Floyd was very good but Chelsea needs better. He's a bit old-school, great finisher but different demands nowadays. I'm not writing Costa off either. Not at all. Think we're becoming quicker and quicker to write off players as fans. Drogba went through spells like this too. Extremely frustrating. But he came back. Same goes for many, many other players. I've mentioned this a couple of times before but my only issue is his fitness and discipline. And the balance of the team because it's lacking in firepower. Bringing in another striker is crucial not just to provide competition but to increase the goals in this squad.
